Ps.12:1-2 76 The Arrogant and the Inadequate 303_0001
Mutual admiration society; double standard/reversionist
Psalm 12 inscription To the chief musician, on eight [to the one directing the music on the octive]. A Psalm of David.
When you are in the castle, you order God to deliver. This is an order; but you do not order God around unless you are on solid ground. You must be on solid ground in order to say anything like this.
David is called for deliverance because the pivot is too small. Moses, for awhile, was almost the only person in the pivot. God told Moses that He was going to destroy all of the Israelites; and Moses said, “Okay, then, kill me too.” He is standing in their place, and they are worthless and useless. The spin-off is maximum.
To be on the right side of history, the believer must be in the countdown of history.
Psalm 12:1 Help [Deliver], O Jehovah, for the godly [supergrace or doctrinal types] ceases to be [to exist]; for the faithful fail [vanish or disappear] from among the sons of men.
Introductory Points
1. Usually a sentence begins with a wâw consecutive and then a verb; this begins with the word evil.
2. The verb is to speak, to communicate, to tell, to reply. In inadequate has a passive pride; the arrogant has an active pride. The inadequate always needs a leader; he is a follower; the arrogant is the leader. The inadequate responds to the arrogant.
Psalm 12:2 They speak vanity, each man with his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.
The Arrogant and the Inadequate.
1. Two types of pride, arrogant and inadequate.
2. The arrogant is the initiator; the inadequate is the responder.
3. The relationship between the arrogant and the inadequate is based upon thinking evil in the status of reversionism or apostasy. The relationship is based upon thinking evil. Mutual admiration society.
4. They form a mutual antagonism toward a specific person. One arrogant, one inadequate and one person that they do not like. The arrogant is the chief troublemaker; and they often stay in the background. This 3rd person can be any kind of authority; a husband, a boss, a senior authority.
5. The arrogant person is the chief conspirator. He initiates the conspiracy but he may would stay in the background. He is the troublemaker.
6. The arrogant is anti-authority and very self righteous. He sees the authority figure as wrong. They are very sensitive to anyone who seems to push them around. They always see the one in authority as wrong. They need a following in order to discredit the authority.
7. The inadequate one. He sees himself in competition with the one in authority. The arrogant is the backbone for the inadequate. Inadequate people love flattery.
8. Generally, the arrogant is a stronger personality and the inadequate is a weaker personality.
9. Pride makes both of them weak since they use gossip slander, maligning and judging to attack the authority figure.
10. Revolts against authority and conspiracies against those who honor the Lord in grace are always composed of the arrogant and the inadequate. Every conspiracy has both categories.
11. From the combination of arrogant and inadequate begins conspiracy and revolt.
The next Paragraph Is the Mutual Admiration Society
1. This is a combination of the arrogant and the inadequate. The weak attack the strong.
2. The society represents the function of evil in combination of pseudo love. Their function is evil .
3. Evil makes strange bedfellows. They are opposites in personality.
4. Under normal conditions, opposites do not attract; never normal.
5. A 3rd person or a mature believer is the target for vindictiveness and slander.
6. Opposites only attract where evil is involved.
7. Mutual antagonism toward a 3rd party or an entity is what pulls together some people.
8. This mutual dislike allows them to work each other into a lather of hatred, they work each other up, accompanied with self righteous fervor, and they express this with slander, gossip, maligning and judging. Sometimes overt revenge.
9. The next phrase indicates that these mutual admiration societies are held together by the glue of flattery.
10. Flatter from the arrogant to the inadequate on, so the latter becomes the slave or the tool of the arrogant one.
11. The arrogant type uses the inadequate one to destroy the authority.
Psalm 12:2 They speak vanity [evil], each one [the arrogant] with his neighbor [the inadequate one]; with flattering lips [vindicating themselves with a lip of flatteries] and a double heart they speak [they speak with a double-standard].
These two flatter each other each time. Their arrogance blinds him to the fact that he is taking over the prerogatives of God. Slander is more than a weapon; it is a buildup of evil. Slander does not always succeed.
Cheleqah in the plural so these are flatteries, slanderings. Double edged sword; one edge destroys the person in authority and flatters the person he is sucking up to.
The Principle of Vindication
1. 3 areas in the Bible where the believer is said to be vindicated. Vindication is a part of; grace dynamics of the believer. The prophet or the pastor or the communicator of doctrine is vindicated when attacked by sins of the tongue.
2. Only infinite God can be glorified and only He can be vindicated. He is vindicated in the Angelic Conflict. He is vindicates in human history.
3. The supreme court of heaven with Jesus Christ as the presiding judge is designed to vindicate God and not man.
4. The believer can be delivered and blessed, but he cannot be vindicated.
5. Only God is glorified; only God is vindicated. The mutual admiration societies have ignored this principle. The first two are seeking self-justification; self vindication.
6. The rationalization of evil so flatters self and others, that the proud reversionist establish themselves as judges.
7. Such blasphemy is judged from heaven. The wise believer stays out of God’s way. Such self-vindication is like slapping Jesus in the face.
Psalm 12:2 They speak vanity [evil], each one [the arrogant] with his neighbor [the inadequate one]; with flattering lips [vindicating themselves with a lip of flatteries] and a double heart they speak.
The last thing to cover is a double heart. And with a hear and a heart and the Piel imperfect od dabar; second time for it.
The Double Heart.
1. With the first heart, he flatters himself and rationalizes his own behavior.
2. With the second hard, he attacks and slanders his enemy. Called also double-minded or double-souled.
3. This is why mutal admiration societies are unstable. If you are inadequate, you might be sucked in somewhere.
4. Doubled-minded can never accept anyone’s authority but their own. They are motivated to fight authority. They can sit in Bible class for years and not grow. They join the group in order to gain a following. Wash your hands and cleans your hearts from pollution, you double-minded (James 4:8).
They Speak with a Double Heart
1. All mutual admiration societies are evil.
2. The function under a double-standard by which they condemn others and commend themselves. A double-standard.
3. From standards of self-righteousness, their objective is self-vindication.
4. They are disoriented to grace and fulfill Gal. 4:29 the son of the bond woman always persecutes the son of the free woman.
5. History is cluttered with mutual admiration societies and conspiracies. Moses with great authority was the spiritual and temporal ruler of 2 million Jews, the larges mutual admiration society in history. Korah, Dathan and Abiram. The rest of the Jews were inadequate.
6. The pharisees vindicated themselves and slandered Jesus Christ.
7. The judiazers, self righteous legalists, also had a double-standard of a double heart. The slandered and vindicated themselves.
Psalm 12:2 They speak vanity [evil], each one [the arrogant] with his neighbor [the inadequate one]; with flattering lips [vindicating themselves with a lip of flatteries] and a double heart they speak [they speak with a double-standard].
The key is, they have different standards; one for themselves and one for others.

Doctrine of sins of the tongue
Psalm 12:2 They speak vanity [evil], each one [the arrogant] with his neighbor [the inadequate one]; with flattering lips [vindicating themselves with a lip of flatteries] and a double heart they speak [they speak with a double-standard].
Doctrine of the Sins of the Tongue
1. Definition of sins of the tongue
a. A sin is a transgression of law or standards of God.
i. There are 2catebories of sins: a known sin and an unknown sin. You wanted to do it and you knew you wanted to do it.
ii. A knwon sin involves human cognizance.
iii. An unknown sin is where the act is committed without the perception that the sin is a sin. You may excuse yourself for the sin, but what God thinks about it is what is important.
iv. Therefore, there are sins of cognizance and sins of ignorance. Jesus Christ bore our sins of ignorance on the cross.
v. When you have volition involved, then there is no excuse, even if you did not know it was a sin.
vi. Guilt is the same, regardless of the punitive action taken by God.
vii. Sins of cognizance and ignorance were both judged on the cross.
b. Classification of sin:
i. The imputation of Adam’s sin. Adam is the federal head of the human race, and when he made this decision, it was made for all of us.
ii. Mental sins, sins of the tongue and overt sins. All of these sins are sinful. There may be some circumstances where fighting might be sinful; Bob will have to get back to us on that one.
c. More points:
i. All personal sins involve volition and the sin nature.
ii. This means that all verbal sins activated by human volition come from the old sin nature.
iii. Whether sins of cognizance or sins of ignorance, human volition is involved in all categories of sin. If we have an IQ of 50 and volition, then we have free will.
iv. The instrument of committing verbal sins is the tongue.
v. Our of the sins that God despise, 3 are related to verbal sins. Bob goes over the 7 sins that are classified as the worst sins.
2. Evil is related to the sins of the tongue.
a. Self righteous people reject grace standards. They are reversionistic and evil. They have self righteous rather than grace righteousness.
b. Psalm 12:2 They speak vanity [evil], each one [the arrogant] with his neighbor [the inadequate one]; with flattering lips [vindicating themselves with a lip of flatteries] and a double heart they speak [they speak with a double-standard].
c. Self-righteousness sets up a double standard; slandering, maligning and judging on the other hand.
d. A key word is duty or responsibility; they often use these words to justify their acts.
e. The self righteous pharisees thought it was their duty to destroy the Perfect Son of God.
f. The legalistic judaizers thought it was their duty to discredit the Apostle Paul.
g. The quintessence of evil is the self righteous legalistic believer whose arrogance assumes the perogative of replacing Jesus Christ as the presiding Judge of the Supreme Court of Heaven.
h. Such self-vindication and self-righteousness regards it their duty to slander, gossip malign and judge. Rom. 2:1 is the answer: you are without excuse everyone who keeps on judging another; in that you judge another, you condemn yourself. You who are judging practice the same things.
i. Therefore, it is not the duty, responsibility or perogative of the believer to assume the role or function of the believer to assume the role of Jesus Christ as the Supreme Judge.
j. We are to judge our own lives in the light of Bible doctrine.
k. Bible doctrine resident in the soul produces true standards of grace righteousness. Grace righteousness and self-righteousness are mutually exclusive.
l. To the self righteous legalistic believer who judges, maligns, or slanders. Rom. 14:4 who are you to judge the servent of another? To his own Lord, he stands or falls. Rom. 14:10 or you, why do you judge your brother? For we will all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ.
3. Practical application:
a. Therefore, we must conclude that God does not need our help or counsel when it comes to judging. This is often sincerely given, but emphatically
b. It is not our duty or our responsibility to judge others. We can use that time to learn doctrine. Each believer must live his life as unto the Lord.
c. The Lord has not called upon us to act as judges of fellow believers. We would have to know all of the facts, and we don’t. God can handle this without our help. Rom. 11:33–34 Oh rthe depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God. How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways. Who has knwon the mind of Christ?
d. It therefore becomes extreme arrogance to judge, malign or slander other believers.
e. It is blasphemous to assume the prerogatives of Jesus Christ as the Supreme Court Judge. It is substituting our self-righteousness for His perfect grace righteousness. We are disoreineted to His plan.
f. It violates the Scripture and the doctrine of hamartiology to suggest that we are sinless or unblameable; that is the innuendo of verbal sins. Otherwise, why would you judge someone else? 1John 1:8 if we say we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and doctrine is not in us.
g. Verbal sins lead to blasphemy and the sin of presumption.
h. Verbal sins are also a sign of human weakness. This is how the weak attack the strong.
4. Reversionism related to the sins of the tongue.
a. Verbal sins like gossip, maligning judging are motivated by mental sins like pride
b. In Psalm 5:9 the soul of a person is called an open grave where everyone can smell the rotting corpse. Oh Lord, lead me in Your grace righteousness because of my enemies, make You way smooth before me. Their tongue is an open grave. This way, you smell the rotting corpse. Decomposing flesh cannot say, “I am alive.”
c. Slander is a sign of reversionism. James 4:11
d. The Judged Jesus Christ does not permit others ot judge. James 4:9
e. Verbal reversionism is subject to heavy divine discipline. Verbal reversionism brings the believer under strong judgment.
5. The sins of the tongue bring intensified discipline. You measure it out to them, and that is measured back to you.
a. You mention some sins, real or imagined which you assign to another believer. You assign these sins to someone else. They might be real or imagined. You open your mouth and make an issue out of sins. You are confessing your sins when you make an issue out of your own sins. There is a stench that comes out when you name another’s sins. These sins all have penalties under divine justice. The victim will not get any of this discipline; the judgement did not come from heaven, but from you. The sins may or may not have occurred. The victim gets blessing comparable to the discipline if they did not commit them.
b. The victim of your slander does not receive the punishment for these sins, but you do.
c. You assigned these sins to this person in gossip, so you are judged for your mental attitude sins and for the sin of gossip. You have turned your soul into a morgue, and you are judged for that. How you measure it out to your victim, it is measured back to you.
d. You did not commit the sins, but you named them in slander, so the punishment is assigned to you in judgment. The justice of God is phenomenal.
e. This is to remind you to keep your nose out of other people’s business.
f. The royal priesthood demands privacy to live one’s own life as unto the Lord.
g. Therefore, the believer does not have the right to destroy this freedom by intruding on the privacy of others.
h. Otherwise, triple compound discipline awaits.
6. There is great blessing in avoiding sins of the tongue. Psalm 34:12–13
7. The congregation and sins of the tongue.
a. Control of the tongue is a sign of spiritual maturity. James 3:2
b. Verbal sins can destroy an entire congregation. The tongue is a tiny organ that can burn down an entire forest; it can contaminate an entire body.
c. The sins of the tongue can destroy an entire congregation, the pastor should warn against and guard against these sins. 2Tim.16–17
d. Troublemakers are identified by their sins of the tongue. You love evil more than good, a person who sins with the tongue. Therefore, God will break you down forever. He will uproot you from the land of the living.
8. Separation from sins of the tongue. Identify and scram. Rom. 16:17–18 turn away from them. They are not slaves of Jesus Christ, but they are slaves of their own emotion.
9. God protects the believer from the sins of the tongue. In 6 troubles, He will deliver you. Job from famine, war, the power of the sword.
10. Isa. 54:17 no weapon that is formed against you will prosper.

Judgments from the Supreme Court of Heaven; divine justice to individuals
We spend 3 days on v. 2, and this is lesson #3?
We are best to get along without arrogance. The sins that make you most miserable while doing then. Mental sins and verbal sins are the worst. Boy crazy period of women, from 0 to 80. Often such women flatter, which means, to tell some untruths. God obviously does not run these women down and cut off their lips.
The arrogant and the inadequate are both manifestations of arrogance. They develop a mutual admiration society; they flatter one another. Flattering lips describe two categories. The self righteous type
karath is the verb used here, in the Hiphil stem. We move from the human side to the divine side. There is a supreme court in heaven. It is made up of 3 judges, the Trinity. Jesus Christ is the presiding Judge, John 5:22.
The Supreme Court of Heaven
1. Our lives are in the hands of the supreme court.
2. The Judge is perfect and His judgements are just.
3. This supreme court is presided over by the Lord Jesus Christ. John 5;22, 27
4. From the supreme court of heaven, Jesus Christ punishes for transgressions and He controls history; groups and nations.
5. The supreme court of heaven has the highest jurisdiction, overruling all humnan power and nations. National reversionism and tyranny and the wide influence of evil are overruled and reversed fro the supreme court of heaven.
6. Human history continues even though Satan rules the world.
7. Jesus Christ controls history and there is no prejudice or unfairness with any supreme court decisions.
The Supreme Court of Heaven Part ii
1. Supreme court of heaven deals with national
2. Flattering lips refers to self-vindication and to flattery within the mutual admiration society.
3. God judges the evil collective and personal.
4. The most awesome and frightening judgment is that administered by God to those doing evil. The arrogant, the inadequate and a 3rd person who has some amount of authority (and this person might be mature and he might be in reversionism).
5. The arrogant believer who judges, maligns others, blasphemes and seeks to stop divine justice from the supreme court and he thinks he can do a better job. Such a person never has the facts.
6. Gossip, maligning, slander all under the phrase of flattering lips or the tongue which speaks arrogant things.
7.
8. It is always better when in a conflict, to leave the entire matter in the hands with one who has all of the facts. You can never go wrong with putting it in the hands of the Lord. The application; stay out of the Lord’s way.
Lashown is the word for the tongue. The tongue is one that speaks arrogant things. Using one standard of heart. Double standard justifies self and uses the other to discredit others.
None of us is flawless; none of us is sinless. If you want to stick your nose into the business of others, then you have a predisposition to a subtle and monstrous form of busy-bodiness.
Psalm 12 inscription To the chief musician, on eight [to the one directing the music on the octive]. A Psalm of David.
Psalm 12:2 They speak vanity [evil], each one [the arrogant] with his neighbor [the inadequate one]; with flattering lips [vindicating themselves with a lip of flatteries] and a double heart they speak [they speak with a double-standard].
Psalm 12:3 Jehovah shall cut off all with flattering lips and the tongue that speaks great things;
Now we go to the words of the reversionist. If they are arrogant or inadequate; but they all have in common that they resent authority. The arrogant suffers from a superiority complex. The inadequate is proud from an inferiority complex. They both feel they have problems with a person in authority. They have the problems from different perspectives, but they do not like that authority. They have mutual authority problems.
These have to become strong in relationship to each other. Flattery stimulates self-righteousness. This is what holds them together. In their self-righteousness, they look for other victims.
Pastors need to be tough, otherwise, people try to run roughshod all over them. So Berachah is a protected congregation.
You build up the inadequate by giving them a job. Every mutual admiration society has an organization like this. Their objective is, “We will overcome.” They will also use overt retaliation.
They have to vindicate their attack against the authority figure; so they say it is our right or our duty to make such an attack. “Our lips [are] with us” means that they have a right to say whatever they want, they are justifying themselves. They are helping in some way. They use their speech to attack authority. The worst attackers against authority are not communists, but sweet self righteous types. They operate from an island of self-righteousness and self-vindication.
“Who is lord over us?” who thinks that they can tell us what to say? They recognize no authority but their own. Standardizing education destroyed it. That is why our standard is way down; one of the reasons. The same is said to be true pastors of a local church.
The double-standard types attack by maligning, but judging; they do not recognize the authority of anyone else.
Psalm 12:4 who say, We shall be strong [we will prevail] by our tongue; our lips are our own [are with us]; who is lord over us?
Another area of retaliation. It can be verbal or overt. Min + shob, which does not refer to the poor. This refers to the violent. Verbal attacks are followed up by attacks of violence. It takes a lot of humility to be in a place of authority. The 2nd lieutenant has all kinds of authority to deal with; he is authority over a number of soldiers; but he is on the bottom of the ladder of authority with all kinds of people over him. He has a responsibility for those beneath him. It is easy to criticize authority. The greatest leaders in this field have always had great humility. When anyone is in a place of authority, he has to be responsive to those above and below him; and he must function in justice and fairness and responsibility toward all.
Min + anachah, = because of the groaning of...
All of the great believers in the Old Testament had slaves; same is true for some in the New Testament. The Bible teaches 14 things a master must do; and 14 things a slave must do. This is the next series coming up. The Bible never says that slavery is wrong. When you make an issue out of slavery... When Lincoln published the emancipation proclamation, he put more people under slavery. If someone canny handle freedom, then it is not free. He said that the federal government had the right to self-determination. Robert E. Lee was a slave owner and he manumitted his slaves; others did not agree with him and they did not do the same. Thomas Jefferson was one of the largest slave owners in our history. Tom didn’t run that place all by himself. He abused his slaves as well. But manumition was a matter of volition and not government mandate. Once the government was allowed to make a decision for what should be a personal matter, that opened the door to all kinds of evil. The government has determined that, if we think something is for the greater good, then we can insert ourselves and tell you what to do. Hagar was a slave woman; she was not a bond-woman. She had her son as a slave, so that he was a slave as well. The son of the slave woman always persecutes the son of the free woman.
Slaves had old sin natures as well; and they use their natures as well. The free are the grace types. The slave are the arrogant and the inadequate. In a mutual admiration society, there is slavery as well. That is the tyranny of the mutual admiration society.
Violence and groaning rich the supreme court of heaven. So Jesus Christ rises up to pronouncement judgment.
Psalm 12:5 For the pain of the poor [because of the violence of the grace oriented], for the sighing of the needy [because the groaning of the ], I will now rise up, says Jehovah; I will set in safety; he pants for it.
Ps.12:5b-8 76 The Arrogant and the Inadequate 303_0004
Pure words of JEHOVAH
We are in the middle of v. 5.
As long as the group stays out of it, the Lord does the judging. Attah God permits this as a test; but at exactly the right time, God stands up and cuts it off completely. God first warns with discipline and then He cuts us off.
The Principle
1. The most awesome function to observe in history is divine discipline from the perfect Judge of history. Nothing can keep us more aligned with tthe Lord than something like this. We are vulnerable as a nation and vulnerable as individuals from judgment.
2. Every effort should be made not to interfere with God’s justice. When we do, we are judged. No one gets away with contempt of court. It is contempt of the Supreme Court of heaven to gossip or malign or judge other believers.
3. Spiritual growth helps to keep us from doing this.
Not only does God judge, but the result of this common attack of the arrogant and the inadequate, their victim is delivered and the other two are judged.
Psalm 12:5 For the pain of the poor [Because of the violence against the afflicted ones], for the sighing of the needy, I will now rise up [I will rise up to judge], says Jehovah; I will set in safety [I will place into deliverance]; he pants for it.
Both men are judged, but their victim is delivered. Puffing means the judging, maliengin, gossiping; useless and meaningless talk. God puts a wall of fire around their victim.
Summary Points
1. This is divine justice emphasized as the basis of all human adjustment to God. We are so taken with the love of God that we do not realize that our point of contact with God is His justice. It operates toward us in one way or another.
2. Justice is the issue of the cross.
3. Justice is the issue of the Christian life.
4. In the most horrible judgment for the unbeliever in eternity and for believers in time (the sin unto death), are both based upon God’s justice.
5. This verse is pertinent to the communicator of doctrine; to the prophet of old and to the communicator of doctrine. It is because someone taught us the Word that we can avoid these things. Every believer has a right pastor. No weapon formed against you will prosper.
Jesus Christ is the One Who is glorified; He is the One recognized as great. The words of the Lord in judgment here; in putting discipline on believers. No matter how horrible your discipline may be, your discipline comes from heaven and your discpline is pure.
Jesus Christ standing up and pronouncing judgment in the supreme court of heaven. These are the pure words. This does not refer to the doctrines in Scripture but the verbal pronouncements from heaven.
Jesus Christ is the Presiding Judge from the Supreme Court of Heaven. There is no court beyond the supreme court of heaven.
“Pure” refers to pure, clean, not mixed with the false; unmixed with falsehood. The judgments of Jesus Christ reflect His perfect character and His perfect attributes. The Judge is perfect; His judgments are perfect. They can be accepted with Thanksigivng. The first time they are given, they are absolutely perfect. If there is anything that we can afford to do without, it is a confrontation with the Supreme Court Judge. When we malign or judge, we are in a confrontation that we cannot win.
Psalm 12:6 The Words of Jehovah are pure Words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.
Jesus Christ and Judgment
1. As God, Jesus Christ is infinite perfection.
2. All judgments from infinite perfection are absolute perfection.
3. Since the essence of Christ., His judgements and His decisions are perfect. It is not a matter of accepting them; you cannot reject them. There is no appeal. It is not a place where we want to be at any time. Nothing more ghastly than the sins of the tongue.
4. It is the prerogative of Jesus Christ to judge individuals, groups or nations. Jesus Christ can judge any group. Local churches which thrive on judging someone else; some local churches judge without all of the facts; and they have no basis for doing so. Illustrate with Billy Graham; and you many have enough doctrine to recognize that he does not line up exactly with the Scripture; but you do not have to have anything to do with him; but if you run him down, you certainly cannot spend your time running him down. Organizations who run him down or people who run him down face God’s judgment. The objective in the pulpit is to teach the truth. We all get it from the Scripture; this is our standard.
5. He has not assigned this prerogative to others or delegated this to others. From the pulpit, it is impersonal, where principles are discussed. Bob does not teach about us personally.
6. It is the judgment of doctrine rather than the one communicating doctrine. It is not the man, it is the message. The teaching of the word is the judgment of doctrine. You’re not being judged by the communicator but by the communication, which is impersonal. Doctrine is simply warning communication. When you get it this way, you have been warned.
7. When the warning of doctrinal teaching goes unheeded; when you ignore, reject or resist doctrinal teaching, then Jesus Christ Himself must judge you from heaven. This is not a new doctrine. Negative volition toward doctrine leads to discipline. When a church rejects doctrine, then the church must be judged.
8. So the pure words of Jehovah, in this context, are twofold:
a. Warning judgements communicated in Bible doctrine. Doctrine is pure. All communicators have old sin natures.
b. Executing judgments communicated from heaven by Jesus Christ, presiding judge from the Supreme Court of Heaven.
9. All judgment comes from absolute truth. From all eternity past Jesus Christ as God is truth; man says, “I speak the truth;” Christ says, “I am the truth.” Jesus Christ does not take the turht as something which He had to learn or acquire. The judge practiced law; and he had to learn it. But Jesus Christ did not have to learn this law; He is the absolute judge.
10.
11. This is why adjustment to God after salvation must be based upon His justice. God does not adjust to us. He does not pat us on the head because we witnessed this week. Self-righteousness is never sponsored by God. Therefore, we must adjust to Him. God is vindicated in proving spiritual blessings. God never compromises His justice in blessing you. The love of God is not the issue; it is the justice of God.
12. This adjustment requires that we take doctrine and evaluate ourselves in the light of the Word of God.
Self-evaluation
1. There is no place for any intrusion into divine justice; divine justice excludes intrusion. Since Jesus Christ is Supreme Court Judge, there is no way that we can intrude into his judgment. Judgement by people, like the arrogant and the inadequate for groups where they judge and malign.
2. We judge ourselves via rebound. The judge when he pronounces judgment, he does not emote. And when we judge ourselves, we do not need to emote. People feel sorry for their sins and they hope that God might let up on the discipline. You cannot make it up to God. If you do not know doctrine, then you are unable to judge yourselves. If you fail to do this, then Jesus Christ will do this for you. What you cannot afford is the kind of discipline that Jesus Christ brings to you.
3. Failure to learn doctrine from one’s right pastor or rejecting the authority of one’s right pastor means direct judgment from heaven. When we ignore this grace system of self-judgment and self-evaluation, there is nothing left but judgment from heaven.
4. The phrase, pure words is where we choose to be judged by ourselves. Positive volition toward Bible doctrine is the only answer to self-evaluation.
The Intruder is the person who practices gossip, maligning, judging, etc. Bible doctrine is the standard by which we should judge our own lives. We use the written word. The second system is by the Living Word, Jesus Christ. When He evaluates, it is all over. The individual or mutual admiration society intrudes on both of these legitimate systems of judgment. The Lord destroys flattering lips. That is the mutual admiration society. They flatter each other in pseudo rapport. The tongue that speaks arrogant things.
The mutual admiration society believe that it is their duty to slander, malign and judge. Evil is distorted and rationalized. But you have no duty to live anyone else’s life except than your own.
Bob grew up under a system where tattle tailing was the worst thing. Nature overcomes this, and you do not hate girls, eventually, despite this. And they do this in self-righteousness, and they flip their little pony tails around, and you knew you were in for it.
Peer ratings are evil. This is just another form of peer ratings. All of the service academies use peer ratings. What your peers think is of no consequences whatsoever. Ulysses Grant had the lowest peer rating anywhere. This is just public opinion. This is the worst thing in the world. Quarterbacks are up one week and then down the next.
The greatest baseball player, Ted Williams, could care less what the crowd thought. A professional all the way. He got into trouble showing the public that he did not care what they thought.
Somewhere along the line, you must worry about what God thinks. You do not worry about what people think. Actors are out to get approbation from people. If there is anything that God cannot stand is self-righteousness. This is where we deceive ourselves to think that we are better than anyone else.
The words or judgements of Jehovah are pure words.
Now the illustration. Silver and the Qal active participle of karath, which means to refine, to purify. The ancient process is involved. The extraction of the silver from the ore. Generally there are other things mixed with the silver, like copper or lead. Heat could extract it. Silver and slag is produced. Prepositional phrase bealil the heat melts the silver, a slanted pot, and it would move by gravity onto the ground. The slag stayed wherever.
Paul Revere is one of the most famous silversmiths in American history. Two men went out and Revere was caught, the other was not. Homework, find out who was with him. A number of ways that the silver is purified. Pulverized and leeched. The ancients did all of this by heat. It was necessary to separate the silver. The slag is called dross in the Bible. The heat melted down the silver. And it came out on the ground.
The heat is the discipline, judgment. The One who teaches or the One judging us is perfect and His judgments are pure. All discipline is designed to purify us. No purification comes from the mutual admiration society. Two kinds of judgement. The written word and the Living Word. The preferable system of purification is to listen to the Word of God and to grow by that. You cannot take the prerogative of Jesus Christ. All purity is related to doctrine and to the Person of Jesus Christ. The removal of the slag is comparable to the sin unto death. You stay under the furnace until the day that you die.
God’s Words separate sinner from sinner; the purification. Purification done 7 times. 7 is an uneven number of repetitions. You get something over and over again. The repetition is the purification. This means to be filtered. Dross is never acceptable.
Psalm 12:6 The Words of Jehovah are pure Words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.
Proleptic pronoun means you and only you. Jesus Christ is exclusive to judge. The people guarded by God are those who are maligned and run down by the arrogant and the inadequate. The puffer is the slanderer. It could be the arrogant or the inadequate. He takes the victim and puts a wall of fire around them, so that all of the gossip, maligning and slander does not bother the object, but it only bothers those who do all of the verbal sins.
Jesus Christ can promote or demote. He personally protects those who are the victims. Public opinion is useless. They must be protected from peer ratings. That is preserving them from this generation forever.
Psalm 12:7 You shall keep [guard] them, O Jehovah; You shall preserve [or, to snatch from danger; to deliver] them from this generation forever.
The mature believer is protected from evil; protected in time by the Lord Jesus Christ. Recognized for promotion and eternal reward.
Vileness is the verbal expression of evil. When people are in a place in life when there is open season on anyone; to judge without restraint.
Men of arrogance and men of evil use their power to destroy the mature believer. The Supreme Court of Heaven overrules their slander and judging and maligning.
Psalm 12:8 The wicked [evil ones] walk around [to walk to and fro; to strut around (in arrogance)] on every side, when vileness is exalted by the sons of men
Proverbs 11:8–13 is related to this.
Proverbs 11:8–13 The righteous is delivered from distress, and the wicked goes in instead of him. The ungodly is corrupting his neighbor with his mouth, but the just is delivered by knowledge. When the righteous prospers, the city rejoices; and at the wicked's perishing is singing. A city is lifted up by the blessing of the upright, but by the wicked's mouth it is overthrown. One despising his friend lacks heart, but an understanding man remains silent. One going with slander is a revealer of secrets, but the faithful of spirit keeps a matter hidden.
Proverbs 11:17 A merciful man does good to his own soul, but the cruel troubles his own flesh. The wicked makes a deceitful wage, but one sowing righteousness has a reward of truth. So righteousness leads to life, but one pursuing evil, to his death. Hateful to Jehovah are the perverse hearted, but His delight is the upright in way. Though hand join to hand, the evil shall not be innocent [he will not go unpunished], but the righteous seed escapes.
The corrected translation:
A psalm of David. Deliver me O Jehovah because the supergrace types have ceased to exist because the doctrinal types have ceased to exist. They speak each one to the other with lips of flatteries with a double heart or a double standard. Jehovah will destroy all flattering lips. The tongue that speaks arrogant things. Reversionists under the influence of evil say, “With our tongues, we will prevail; our lips are with us. We have the duty and the authority to gossip [as long as we can speak, it is our duty to malign and gossip]. Who is our authority; who is lord over us? Because of the groaning of the miserable ones, I will rise up and deliver. The words the judgments of Jehovah are pure words, like silver refined in a crucible and poured out on the ground 7 times. You will defend him forever. Evil ones strut proudly around on every side while vileness is exalted in the human race.
