A. The literal use of light is for the purpose of reminding man that his
existence depends on light, Gen 1:3; Eccl 11:7; Jer 31:35.
B. Light also illustrates the essence of God, 1 Jn 1:5; 1 Tim 6:16.
C. Jesus Christ, as the manifest person of the Godhead, is called light.
Jn 8:12; 1 Tim 6:16.
D. The Gospel is called light because it deals with Christ, 2 Cor 4:3-4;
2 Tim 1:10.
E. Being saved brings the believer out of darkness into light, Lk 1:79;
1 Pet 2:9.
F. Light is used to portray Bible doctrine in the soul, Ps 119:105, 130.
G. The edification complex of the soul is said to be constructed of Bible
doctrine and/or light, Ps 43:3, 119:130; Rom 13:12; Eph 5:8; 1 Jn 2:8.
H. Light depicts the believer’s entrance into the supergrace life, 2 Cor
4:6; Eph 5:14.
I. Light is used for the divine guidance of Israel by night, Ex 14:20.
