DOCTRINE OF POWER AND PRECEDENCE

A. Introduction.

1. The first power option—the filling of the Holy Spirit—is a grace gift from Jesus Christ after His resurrection. The first power option is tantamount to the first spiritual skill—problem solving device number two on the FLOT (forward line of own troops) line of the soul.

a. Acts 1:8, “But You shall receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you;...”

b. Jn 14:26; 16:12-14, “You shall receive power after the Holy Spirit is given to you.”

2. The second power option is metabolized Bible doctrine circulating in the stream of consciousness of the believer. The second power option is tantamount to the second spiritual skill—problem solving device number five on the FLOT line of the soul.

a. Heb 4:12, “The word of God is alive and powerful; sharper than any two-edged sword.”

b. 1 Cor 2:16, “...but we have the mind of Christ.”

3. The humanity of Christ used eight problem solving devices on the FLOT line of His soul during the first advent. These eight problem solving devices are tantamount to the third spiritual skill. Church Age believers have been given ten problem solving devices on the FLOT line of our souls.

4. You can have power and precedence or you can have pride and prejudice. If you accept the teaching of the word of God, you will come to the power and precedence of the Christian life. If you reject the teaching of the word of God, you will come to pride (the function of the three arrogance skill—self-justification, self-deception, and self-absorption) and prejudice (you will be full of mental attitude and verbal sins all your life).

B. Principles.

1. The doctrine of power and precedence is related to the power of the Lord Jesus Christ related to His humanity in the dispensation of the hypostatic union.

2. The doctrine is related to the two power options of the Christian way of life plus precedence established by the humanity of Jesus Christ in hypostatic union.

3. The first power option is the filling of the Spirit, which is a grace gift from Jesus Christ (the first person in the human race to ever have the filling of the Spirit) immediately after His resurrection and ascension, Jn 14:26; 16:12-14; Acts 1:8; Rom 15:13; Eph 3:18-19.

4. The first power option is tantamount to the first spiritual skill— problem solving device number two on the FLOT line of the soul.

5. The second power option is metabolized doctrine circulating in the stream of consciousness. By comparing Heb 4:12 with 1 Cor 2:16, we have the concept of the second power option.

6. The second power option is tantamount to the second spiritual skill and problem solving device number five on the FLOT line of the soul.

7. Precedence refers to the function of the humanity of Christ during the dispensation of the hypostatic union using eight problem solving devices on the FLOT line of His soul to go to the Cross and receive the imputation of all our sins and their judgment.

8. Precedence is tantamount to the third spiritual skill—the ten problem solving devices deployed on the FLOT line of your soul.

9. You can have power and precedence or pride and prejudice (arrogance and legalism). Power and precedence is the divine solution. Pride and prejudice is no solution.

10. The filling of the Holy Spirit plus metabolized doctrine circulating in your stream of consciousness equals the deployment of the problem solving devices on the FLOT line of your soul. This is exactly what our Lord Jesus Christ did as precedence in the dispensation of the hypostatic union.
