A. The Example of Moses, Num 16:41.
1. After one year of the vilification of Moses in the desert and the falsehoods that were perpetuated by mental attitude sins, the public lie was accepted by almost all the believers of the Exodus generation.
2. The public lie was the hate propaganda fomented by arrogant and ambitious believers who lusted for the power of Moses and the approbation that goes with the function of the High Priest, Aaron.
3. The public lie against Moses included the following irrational and evil propaganda:
a. That Moses brought the Jews out of Egypt to kill them off in the desert, Ex 16:3, 17:3; Num 16:13.
b. That Moses will gouge out the eyes of anyone who opposes him, Num 16:14.
4. The public lie was motivated by the following:
a. Negative volition toward doctrine.
b. Scar tissue in the stream of consciousness.
c. Garbage in the subconscious of the soul.
d. The lust pattern of the old sin nature.
e. The sins of the arrogance and emotional complexes
5. Negative volition and scar tissue of the soul created a vacuum into which flowed the public lie. Even though they were believers, their volition had created so great a vacuum that they could say anything evil about Moses and someone would believe it.
6. They considered the truth of Bible doctrine a lie, and the evil propaganda of the conspiracy of Dathan and Abiram as truth. To the believers of the Exodus generation, Moses and Aaron were wrong; Korah, Dathan, Abiram, and the 250 princes of Israel were right. Hence, in their thinking, they called evil “good” and they called good “evil."
7. The dead, evil leaders of the revolution left a greater impression on the soul’s of the Exodus generation, so that they continued to believe the public lie even after God’s demonstration of justice from the supreme court of heaven. But the teaching of Moses and Aaron left no impression on their souls.
8. The Jews decided that all they had to do was kill Moses and Aaron and their problems were solved. This is the evil that comes from the public lie.
9. The fact that they might be wrong never occurred to them. Therefore, they misinterpreted the function of the justice from the supreme court of heaven when God opened the earth and swallowed the leaders of the revolution and then burned the 250 princes with fire.
B. The Pattern of the Public Lie.
1. Ps 119:69, “The arrogant ones have smeared me with lies; But with all my heart I will observe Your doctrines.”
a. The source of the public lie is arrogant people. Those who propagandize through the public lie are the most flawed people you will ever find.
b. The public lie is motivated by power and approbation lust. There is a strong lust to control others and enter into revenge.
c. Vindictive and implacable people are always ready to believe anything about someone they hate, despise, or someone they think is keeping them from controlling others.
d. The only protection you have against the public lie is not to defend yourself but to observe doctrine.
2. Isa 44:20, “He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has turned him aside. And he cannot deliver himself, nor say, `Is there not a lie in my right hand?’”
a. Ashes represent the results of the fire of jealousy. The person who uses the public lie mixes a little true doctrine with distortions. People who manufacture the public lie almost never recover; they usually die the sin unto death.
b. He has a deceived heart from negative volition. He has so much scar tissue of the soul, emotional revolt of the soul, and blackout of the soul that he cannot learn and use the problem solving devises.
c. “Is there not a lie in my right hand?” means that he cannot admit that he is a liar.
3. Jer 27:10, “For they preach a lie to you, in order to remove you far from your land; and I will drive you out, and you will perish.” Jer 27:14-15, “So do not listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you, saying, `You shall not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they prophesy a lie to you; for I have not sent them,” declares the Lord,” but they prophesy falsely in My name, in order that I may drive you out, and that you may perish, you and the prophets who prophesy to you.”
a. The public lie was a part of the administration of the fifth cycle of discipline to the southern kingdom of Judah. Whenever the public lie is operational, it always has an evil purpose. The public lie is an evil devise, used to eliminate rivals or enemies or those who stand in the way of fulfilling the power and approbation lust of some person or persons. Those who communicate the public lie preach a lie to you to destroy you.
b. Zedekiah was told by Jeremiah not to listen to those preaching the public lie and submit to the authority of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon. Zedekiah believed the public lie and rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar. Therefore, Judah was destroyed in 586 B.C.
c. Zedekiah could not keep his own oath to Nebuchadnezzar since he had no spiritual strength. Zedekiah revolted, was betrayed, captured by Nebuchadnezzar, watched his sons die before his eyes, and then had his eyes gouged out by Nebuchadnezzar.
4. Jer 29:21-23, “Thus says the Lord of the armies, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying to you falsely in My name, `Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall slay them before your eyes.’ And because of them a curse shall be used by all the exiles from Judah who are in Babylon, saying, `May the Lord make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted by fire.’” Jer 29:31-32, “Send to all the exiles, saying, `Thus says the Lord concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite,’ “Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, although I did not send him, and he has made you trust in a lie,” therefore thus says the Lord, “Behold, I am about to punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his descendants; he shall not have anyone living among this people, and he shall not see the prosperity that I am about to do to My people,” declares the Lord, “because he has preached rebellion against the \Lord\."’”
a. Terrible things happen to those who proclaim the public lie.
b. Terrible things happen to those who believe the public lie.
C. The New Testament Description of the Public Lie, Rom 1:25. “For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”
D. The source of the public lie is Satan.
1. Jn 8:43-44, “Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word. You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.”
a. They could not understand the teaching of Jesus because they had believed the public lie of Satan and their minds were blinded.
b. Because they believed the lie of Satan, they could not accept the truth. It is easy to proclaim the public lie when there is no truth in you.
c. If you believe the public lie, you have not truth in you.
2. 2 Thes 2:9ff, “The one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and miracles and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they do not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. And for this reason God sends upon them a deluding influence [or an activity of error] so that they might believe the lie, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.” a. The man of sin will be used by Satan to proclaim the public lie.
b. God will send on those who accept the public lie a deluding influence so that they might believe the lie.
c. The man of sin will achieve and maintain his power through the use of the public lie.
d. If you do not have the love of truth as a believer, you will be very easily deceived and pulled into the public lie.
e. The discrediting of truth in the minds of believers is a continuing trend of history.
E. Two categories of the public lie exist.
1. The public lie to discredit establishment doctrine in politics and temporal leadership. For example, socialism is the public lie, free enterprize is the establishment truth.
2. The public lie to discredit the teaching of Bible doctrine and those who communicate it.
F. If you believe the lie, you live by the lie.
1. If you believe the lie, you have previously rejected Bible doctrine by wrong priorities, or by refusing to consistently listen to Bible teaching from one’s right pastor, or by hearing the Word but refusing to metabolize it, or rejection by metabolizing doctrine but becoming distracted.
2. Without Bible doctrine circulating in the stream of consciousness, the believer is vulnerable to believing the public lie. You have no capacity for believing truth. Whatever truth you have in your stream of consciousness is suppressed by scar tissue of the soul.
3. When believers believe the public lie, certain things blind them spiritually. They are blinded by scar tissue of the soul, blackout of the soul, emotional revolt of the soul, and garbage in the subconscious.
4. If you live by the public lie, you die by the public lie. Scar tissue of the soul has no capacity for truth.
G. Principles Related to the Public Lie.
1. Anyone can say anything about anyone else and someone will always believe it, especially if they have mental attitude sins toward that person. Those who believe the lie are those with no truth in their soul or whose truth is suppressed from accumulated garbage in the subconscious.
2. The originator or manufacturer of the public lie is either irrational from the emotional complex of sins, evil from the arrogance complex of sins, or mentally ill.
3. Regardless of the type of person who originates the public lie, the volition of that person is involved. Therefore, the law of volitional responsibility applies, even in the case of the mentally ill believer whose illusions, delusions, hallucinations, or any persistent false mental conception which is resistant to reason and divorced from reality exists. This means that anyone who manufactures the public lie is under liability for divine discipline.
4. Liability does not terminate with the originator of the public lie but extends to those who believe it.
5. The reason for believing the public lie is often found in the sins of the arrogance complex such as jealousy, bitterness, hatred, vindictiveness, implacability, or revenge.
6. Therefore, there is sinful and evil motivation in the origin of the public lie, and there is sinful and evil motivation in believing the public lie.
7. The public lie is the place of compatibility for evil people and every form of evil: blackout of the soul, emotional revolt of the soul, scar tissue of the soul, and garbage in the subconscious. This is how conspiracy begins.
8. If you originate the public lie, power, approbation, and revenge lust motivate your inordinate ambition to destroy someone else or to control your environment and the people in it. Many people want to control and manipulate all the people in their environment. They do this through the public lie. They often do this through the use of compliments which they do not really mean.
9. The public lie is designed to create an environment for the control and manipulation of others at the expense of character assassination.
10. There are many categories of the public lie.
a. In the spiritual realm, a jealous believer slandering another believer.
b. In the social realm, the implacable believer taking revenge on another believer.
c. In the political realm, inordinate ambition plus inordinate competition destroying an enemy through vilification.
d. In the realm of ideas, the public lie that communism is good, that socialism works, that ruining the environment will destroy the earth, that crime can be stopped without capital punishment, that freedom can exist without military victory, or that the Jews (or any race) are the cause of the world’s problems (anti-semitism).
11. If you believe the lie, you live by the lie, and your life becomes a lie.
12. If you live by the lie, you die by the lie.
13. Believing the lie and living by the lie is an environmental handicap for the believer. Most people who live by the lie are immature and childish people.
14. Only consistent cognition and inculcation of Bible doctrine will break the power of this evil environmental handicap.
