The chapters listed below are exegeted word-by-word, verse-by-verse.
This document has been updated May 25, 2024. So far, there are 8803 pages in the chapter-by-chapter commentary.
So far, Luke 1–9 are essentially complete (3 original translations, full word-by-word Greek exegesis, translations are sampled from over 100 available, graphics have been added, along with a full commentary).
Luke 10–24 are mostly complete (3 original translations, full word-by-word Greek exegesis, translations taken from over 100 available, and a fuller commentary). This is 2nd draft status.
The Introduction to Luke has been started, with four very important sections completed; but much more needs to be done.
The mostly unfinished introduction of Luke is also now online.
These files can also be accessed individually via the links below or from within the Luke folder: http://kukis.org/Luke/
I also send out a weekly study in Luke, which files may be found here (HTML) (PDF) (WPD) (folder). If you download the *.wpd document (s), they will download with the *.htm extension (don’t ask me why); you must change this extension and they will become normal WP documents in every respect. At some point in time, everything found in these weekly studies will be transferred over to the chapter-by-chapter studies. The weekly studies are designed for the average Bible student. The chapter-by-chapter studies (like those listed below) are designed for research (pastor teachers, commentators, missionaries, Sunday School teachers).
To help you distinguish between the two tracks of study which I have done in the book of Luke. The abbreviated commentary includes only chapters 3–6 (so far). |

Abbreviated Commentary |
These are sent out by email once a week to those who request them. |
These lessons are organized by chapter and posted on my website only. |
The entire book of Luke is posted as a single document. |
The weekly lessons are 4–5 pages each and designed to be read at one sitting. |
In its finished form a single chapter may be anywhere from 100–600 pages long. |
When I complete a chapter in the weekly lessons, I also write an additional commentary on that chapter which is 8–15 pages in length. |
Designed for the growing believer, evangelists, and Sunday school teachers. |
Designed for research for pastors, other commentators, seminary students, evangelists, and Sunday school teachers. The document is designed to make it easy to find specific verses and sections. |
This is designed for the person who wants a short examination of each chapter of the book of Luke. |
Even though these are less extensive than the chapter studies, these lessons are by no means dumbed down. |
Once a chapter has been completed in the weekly lessons, all of those notes are transferred into the chapter-by-chapter studies. |
As I complete a chapter in the weekly lessons, I write a summary of that chapter, and add it to this abbreviated commentary. |
Every 25 lessons or so are bundled up and posted on my website into groups of 100 lessons each. |
A completed chapter study has each verse exegeted word-by-word; with 3 original translations, original commentary, and well-organized groups of other translations (culled out from about 100 translations). I have begun to include some commentary from a handful of commentators. |
There will be one translation given, no Greek will be referenced, and only rarely will an outside commentatory be included. |
Luke 1 in these weekly lessons is 186 pages long, broken down into 38 lessons. |
Luke 1 in the chapter study is 566 pages long and designed to be easily navigated. |
The final product will be about a 600 page commentary on the book of Luke. Luke 1 will be around 15 pages long. |

These lessons are sent out weekly by email to anyone who requests them. |
Most of the links in this document (Luke Links) are the chapter links. |
These summaries are found in the weekly lessons and in the chapter documents. |
Everything found in the weekly lessons is eventually transferred into the chapter studies (whenever I complete a chapter). |
I have begun to summarize every chapter of Luke (so far, I have done Luke 3–6), and am putting together a brief commentary (400–600 pages) of the entire book of Luke. Sometimes when doing a study, one wants to see a reasonable translation, some basic commentary, and little else. This brief commentary will be taken from the brief concluding commentary at the end of every complete chapter of Luke. |

I have included 2 Completion Charts, and these are very much for my own benefit so that I can see what I have completed and what I still need to work on. The asterisk (*) indicates that some additional commentary has been added in. |

It is not unusual for a chapter in Luke to run 400+ pages. Therefore, it may take longer for them to load in your computer’s memory. If memory is a problem, go to the HTML documents, which are much smaller by comparison. And in any case, you are always welcome to download the material for study.
Downloading the WP files: Although the Word Perfect documents load up and show as *.wpd documents; when downloaded, the extension changes to *.htm (don’t ask me why). Just change the extension using Windows Explorer or some other file management program from *.htm to *.wpd, and it will become a WP document. If the WP document is saved as a zip file, then you would just download it and unzip it. If you see both a WPD and a zipped file of the same document online, choose the newer document to download.

Although I would love to consult other commentators sometime in the future, Luke 1 & 2 may represent just how far I am able to go in those chapters of Luke (I may not have time to round it out by referencing other commentators).
For the few of you who use WordPerfect (which is the original format of my work), if you download one of my chapters as a *.wpd file, the extension will change into *.htm. On your computer, manually change it back to a *.wpd file (using whatever file manager you use), and it will behave exactly like a WordPerfect document. I cannot explain why this happens.
