I attempt to post a new issue each Sunday by 2 or 3 pm central standard time (I sometimes fail at this attempt).
I try to include factual material only, along with my opinions (it should be clear which is which). I make an attempt to include as much of this week’s news as I possibly can. The first set of columns are intentionally designed for a quick read.
I do not accept any advertising nor do I charge for this publication. I write this principally to blow off steam in a nation where its people seemed have collectively lost their minds.
And if you are a believer in Jesus Christ, always remember: We do not struggle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Eph. 6:12).
I missed his article, directly from CNN:
Washington (CNN) - After the signing of the Freedom of Press Act on Monday, President Obama declined to take any questions from the press.
During a pooled press event in the Oval Office, President Obama was asked if he would take a couple questions.
"You're certainly free to ask the question," Obama told the reporters in the room. "I won't be answering, I'm not doing a press conference today, but we'll be seeing you in the course of the week."
James Cameron, film director (Avatar, Titanic) and deep-sea explorer, said on Wednesday that BP Plc turned down his offer to help combat the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. His offer of help is less ridiculous than it appears on the surface, as Cameron was instrumental in developing deep sea equipment for making documentaries on ships as far as 2 miles below the surface of the ocean.
The new oil cap is diverting about 10,000 barrels of oil per day, which is about half of the oil spurting out of the damaged well.
President Obama sends Attorney General Eric Holder down to Louisiana to determine who to arrest or sue over the oil spill. Critics say that, while BP is fighting the oil spill, distracting them with legal action is not the best approach.
Another Democrat, U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff, has confirmed that the White House offered him a job to get him to drop out of a primary.
New bill will give emergency cyber powers to the Department of Homeland Security.
George Bush is blamed for the separation of Al and Tipper Gore; and Bush and Cheney are blamed this week for the gulf oil disaster.
Umpire Jim Joyce's muffed call cost Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga a perfect game this week.
Some whistle blowing census workers are saying they are being laid off on Friday and rehired on Monday, which apparently pads the job numbers. It is unclear how often this is occurring.
This is a bill up to ban plastic grocery bags in California. Probably weed will still be sold in plastic bags. Glad to see my old home state has its priorities straight.
Mohamed Hamoud Alessa, 20, of North Bergen, and Carlos Eduardo "Omar" Almonte, 24, of Elmwood Park were apprehended at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens before they could board separate flights to Egypt, where they were to start journeys to Somalia.
A newly-produced document from the Clinton archives is the second to show Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan defending ex-President Bill Clinton's veto of a bill to ban partial-birth abortions. One of the selling points to conservatives has been, maybe Kagan is against abortion. Here, she argues in favor of the most obscene form of abortion.
Federal regulators (NHTSA) has announced they are launching an investigation into Ford for sudden acceleration after verifying three complaints. This is why we do not want the government-run car company. It will use its power against the competition.
HP to cut 9000 jobs.
David Axelrod, in an interview, said "Nobody can look at the response [to the oil crisis] and say we were slow in doing what we were doing. We didn't communicate it well."
Maureen Dowd, Obama supported, wrote this week: “It's not a good narrative arc: The man who walked on water is now ensnared by a crisis under water...With as much as 34 million gallons of oil inking the Gulf of Mexico, ‘Yes we can’ has been downgraded to ‘Will we ever?’ ”
Frank Rich (also an Obama supporter) wrote: “His most conspicuous flaw is his unshakeable confidence in the collective management brilliance of the best and the brightest he selected for his White House team - ‘his abiding faith in the judgment of experts,’ as Joshua Green of The Atlantic has put it. ”
Washington Post's Anne Kornblut recently wrote: "It has been years since President Obama attended a rally like the one that took place here [at Andrews Air Force base] Monday night: sparsely attended, thrown together at the last minute, involving people who were not expecting to be there. We're partying like it's Obama circa 2005."
Movie director Spike Jones gives advice to President Obama: “One time, go off! If there's any one time to go off, this is it, because this is a disaster.”
Paul McCartney on Obama: “I'm a big fan, he's a great guy. So lay off him, he's doing great.”
Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA) said, "There's a concerted effort behind promoting these kinds of laws on a state-by-state basis by people who have ties to white supremacy groups. It's been documented. It's not mainstream politics."
Not one to lay off President Bush, however, McCartney later commented, after receiving the Gershwin award from the library of Congress, “After the last eight years, it's great to have a President who knows what a library is." McCartney is certainly unaware that the President’s wife is a former librarian and that the president was known to be one of the most avid readers in the White House of all the presidents.
Vice President Biden: “I'm very proud to say, that's there's been virtually no - knock on wood - virtually no fraud associated with the $787 billion program [the Stimulus Bill] overall." And "We have new ideas about how to spend government money wisely." And "That's what we're attempting to turn around, as well as turn the economy we inherited around. And I think we're on our way to doing both of those." And "The truth of the matter is that the Recovery Act is working."
Israel’s Prime Minster Netanyahu said, “The State of Israel faces an attack of international hypocrisy.it is our right and obligation to prevent arms from reaching Gaza. This was not a "Love Boat" it was a hate boat.' ”
Helen Thomas (posing a question to Robert Gibbs): The -- our initial reaction to this flotilla massacre, deliberate massacre, an international crime, was pitiful. What do you mean you regret when something should be so strongly condemned? And if any other nation in the world had done it, we would have been up in arms. What is the sacrosanct, iron-clad relationship where a country that deliberately kills people and boycotts -- and we aid and abet the boycott?
Ari Fleischer: “She should lose her job over this," Fleischer said in an email. "As someone who is Jewish, and as someone who worked with her and used to like her, I find this appalling.”
Michele Bachman: “Fire Helen Thomas.”
Helen Thomas has since written: “"I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heartfelt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon.”
This will make sense, if you know Glenn Beck:
O'REILLY: All right. Now I have to -- I have to read another email as I did last week to you. This e-mail comes from Lisa Seklecki (ph) from Deptford, New Jersey.
"I recently surprised by dad with the best Father's Day gift ever. Two gold package tickets to the Bold Fresh tour in Atlantic City, New Jersey. My dad was so excited, he cried."
Now, I'm not -- and Atlantic City is sold out, by the way. I don't know whether he cried because he was excited. I think he might have cried...
BECK: There's nothing wrong with a man crying.
O'REILLY: And I think you've demonstrated that time and time again.
Governor Haley Barbour: “Don’t think that a 6-month moratorium [on wells in the gulf] means 6 months. It means much more than that.” The gist of his remark is, these companies will take their equipment and investments and go elsewhere, probably outside of the states.
Daryl Issa in a letter to Bob Bauer counsel to the White House, asking for a "full and complete list of all elections in which the White House engaged in efforts to persuade specific candidates to drop election bids and if a job or any other thing of value meant to entice a candidate to withdraw from or not to enter the race was offered, [to] specify to whom it was offered, and by whom it was offered" and a "written commitment to preserve all records and communications related to any attempts by the White House to clear the field in Democratic primary elections."
“Uncommon Knowledge's latest guest John Podhoretz argues is a fundamental misunderstanding of the beauty of American democracy. Simply put, Obama believes that since he won the election that he is entitled to remake the world in his image, with no frustrating arguments with people who disagree.”
Charles Krauthammer said, of Obama sending Eric Holder down to Louisiana: “I think what the attorney general did today is somewhat over the line. When the attorney general announces the beginning of a criminal inquiry, you would expect he would announce or at least give some evidence that would lead them to think a crime had been committed or there was some intentionality. I might have missed it but I didn't hear a syllable about what evidence he has of criminal activity here. It's obvious that the administration wants to give the appearance of activity. And that's what it's doing, running around giving the appearance of working on the criminal element.”
Dick Morris: “If the Arabs laid down their arms, there would be no more war [in the Middle East]; if Israel laid down their arms, there would be no more Israel.”
"Yeah, we water-boarded Khalid Sheikh Mohammed," President George Bush said of the terrorist behind 9/11. "I'd do it again to save lives."
Greg Gutfeld: “Now, whether you agree with him or not, and whether you hate his guts or not - you gotta like that. No heavy lifting in that vocab: simple, straightforward, and honest. I miss that.”
Republican Party head Michael Steele: "President Barack Obama promised that he `won't stop fighting to open up government,' and that he would have `the most transparent administration in history.' Really? Of course, it's one thing to keep that promise when you think it'll help you politically. The real test of a man's word is if he keeps it when it's inconvenient, embarrassing or potentially damaging. On this test, the president and his people have failed."
Kim Jong-il is now more popular after the naval attack against South Korea.
Fidel Castro advises Obama to make an nuclear strike against Iran and to attack North Korea, in order to get reelected.
Glenn Beck did an outstanding show on Israel and the flotilla. This was the very best show that I have seen on this topic. This was an excellent show. Glenn does not cry even a little. Also, incase you have been led to believe that Beck is just a blindly partisan guy, note what he says about Truman in the 2nd clip. Jodi Miller: “Mexican President Felipe Calderon continues to criticize Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law. Of course he does; his relatives who send him money every month live in Phoenix.”
Jodi Miller: “72% of Americans say that they are not confident that Congress knows what it is doing when it comes to the economy. And the other 28% have never watched the news, read a history book or balanced a checkbook.”
1) What about these jobs that the White House is offering people in order to drop out of primaries; what is the deal with that? In one case, this was probably fulfilling a promise made to Aspect or, Republican turned Democrat, which temporarily gave Obama the 60th vote that he needed in the Senate. However, the big reason is money. Sestak and Spector spent a total of $14 million in their primary, which money could have been used later in the main race in order to elect a Democrat. Eliminate the primary saves millions of dollars, which money could change the overall election this November (as who controls the Congress could come down to a few seats). So, it is all about money and power, and this is why enforcing the pertinent law is so important.
2) In the reading I have done, it is unclear whether deep water wells are the result of environmentalists pushing them further and further offshore, or if that is where the oil is.
3) Kevin Evans is suing the SEC on the basis of FOIA (the Freedom of Information Act). He wants the names of all 33 employees who were caught watching porn, as well as an explanation for the various ways these employees were disciplined (some lost their jobs and some were, apparently, given a stern warning). Some of these taxpayer-paid employees spent their workday going to porn sites. 17 of the alleged offenders were senior SEC officers whose salaries ranged from $100,000 to $222,000 per year. Private sector employees, as we know, would have been fired, and all lawyers referred to the bar for further discipline (it appears that most of these men are lawyers). Bear in mind, even though this is a small percentage of SEC workers, these are simply the ones who were caught, who we know about. More importantly, which of you working for the private sector could get away with spending most of your day watching porn on at $100,000+/year job without being fired?
4) President George Bush recently gave a speech, so I decided to look for it on YouTube. The first 4 or 5 offerings, just posted, were all about throwing shoes at President Bush (mockery). There is page after page of simply hateful stuff about Bush.
5) Obama’s attacks on BP don’t impress me much. Obviously they are at fault; I don’t think that many people disagree with that. Maybe it was an accident and maybe it was human error and maybe it was BP policy. In any case, continually making them out to be the villain, slamming them and sending Eric Holder to decide how to proceed legally strikes me as completely the wrong approach. Until the oil has been capped and cleanup has begun, with an end in sight, cooperation seems to me to be the simplest and best approach.
6) Along these same lines, I could care less about Obama showing emotion about the gulf oil crisis. This means nothing to me. Various people have various styles and personalities. Nor am I looking for Obama to get the right message out there. I am looking for him to put together a plan, to deal with the oil which has spilled. A part of this plan would, of course, being communicating what he has done and what he will do. Saying that he has been on this since day one means nothing. Having a few meetings about the oil spill means nothing, unless there is some plan of action to deal with the actual problem of oil spreading throughout the gulf.
7) There needs to be an innovative leader in charge at the gulf, coordinating various clean up approaches, using an all-hands-on-deck and all-of-the-above approach. If one thing appears to work well, that process, ideally speaking, can be duplicated. If one process does not seem to do diddly-squat, that process is abandoned. Before the oil hit shore, Bobby Jindal wanted to built barrier sand islands to catch the oil before it got to the marshlands. The EPA apparently blocked this, desiring a study be done first. It seems like an idiot can figure out that sand being piled up off shore is going to be less of an environmental impact than oil soaking the marshland and the shores themselves.
8) File this under, who cares about this but me; last week, in thinking about how to plug the oil gusher, I figured out what ought to be done, and I was going to detail it in this issue. Turns out, that is exactly what BP is doing right now. Quite obviously, this was on the drawing books days, if not weeks before I came up with the idea.
9) Recently, John Farmer, among others, has said, “Now the GOP wants the government to act,” implying that Republicans and Conservatives are simply anti-big government no matter what. How silly! And another straw man argument. There are things which the government does well—and is mandated to do by the constitution: to maintain a standing army to defend us from enemies at home and abroad. When we are dealing with something as big as an oil gusher which could affect a half dozen states or more, yes, the government needs to be involved big time. Now we mobilize the troops. However, recognizing a need for government to act, does not mean that government should try to do everything. We do not believe that it is government’s place to, for instance, over-regulate health care. Where government has gotten involved with healthcare, costs have gone up; where government has been hands off (like with lasik surgery), prices have gone down. Another big mistake was the stimulus bill, which spent a huge amount of money, supposedly to stimulate the economy, but really, it just propped up out of control state and city governments temporarily, and provided a slush fund for the Democratic party. No matter what the Obama administration says, the economy would have bounced back had the government become more austere rather than more gargantuan (compare the economy under Truman and Ike to that under FDR; compare the economy under Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush to that under Carter and Obama. You do not have to be an economic genius to see, government ought to cut back during hard times, not spend money wildly.
The United State produces approximately 5.5 million barrels of oil each day, 2 million of which are produced by offshore wells (mostly from the Gulf of Mexico, and off the coast of California and Alaska).
80% of Mexico’s oil production also takes place in the Gulf of Mexico, to the tune of 2.6 million barrels of oil/day.
There are nearly 4000 active U.S. platforms in the gulf. Each platform may operate as many as 20 wells (I have heard 30,000 wells are in the gulf; 35,000 by another account).
30% of U.S. oil production comes from the gulf.
7 of the 10 worst oil spills came from ships.
One of the deepest wells is operated by Shell Oil, which extends down into 4,000 feet of ocean and then more than 22,000 feet of shale and sediment. Chevron is operating another which involves 30,000 feet of water, shale and sediment. At 30,000 feet, the oil reaches a temperature of 400°F.
In 2004, a monster oil patch in the gulf was discovered, containing an estimated 3 billion to 15 billion barrels of crude
19 out of 20 jobs created this past month were census workers.
Canada’s healthcare now gobbles up 40% of its national budget.
According to government numbers, 560,000 people work for the census bureau, which is almost as many people in the United States residential construction business.
Over the past forty years, public school employment has risen 10 times faster than enrollment. There are only 9 percent more students today, but nearly twice as many public school employees.

It appears as though the President knew, from the very beginning, just how bad the gulf oil crisis was. Up until now, it has been reported that BP had been fudging the numbers to minimize the event. Most of us have this take on the sequence of events. Will you hear the real news in the coming week?
It is easy to take Obama’s oil crisis rhetoric and superimpose this with his actual activities over the past 40 or so days.
It seems that Obama did not begin cleanup efforts in the gulf for a very long time; and that, the things which Governor Bobby Jindal has requested were put on the back burner for a couple of weeks. It is hard to determine if this should be placed in the incompetence column for Obama, or whether an all-out disaster was allowed so that he could push harder on his cap and trade objectives.
You will note that President Obama began making public speeches and taking the credit or blame for what happened in the gulf the day that BP was expected to cap the well with operation top kill, which failed. I think the expectation was, BP would be successful, and that would rub off on him. Again, it is unclear whether this reveals incompetence or intention on the part of the President.
Despite all the Biden said this week, he did say that Israel had the right to defend itself. That is a plus in his column.
From Karen Tumulty of the Washington Post
1. In explaining and defending your decision in March to open up additional offshore areas to drilling, you argued that improvements in technology have made drilling significantly less risky. Just 18 days before the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig, you said: "It turns out, by the way, that oil rigs today generally don't cause spills. They are technologically very advanced." What kind of assurances were you given that this was the case and by whom? What do you think of those assumptions now?
2. BP is now in the position of making many of the key decisions on how to deal with it -- a situation that is drawing growing criticism. White House officials note the administration is following a process established under the 1990 Oil Spill Act, which was passed in response to the Exxon Valdez incident; they also concede that the government, effectively, has no choice but to let BP take the lead because it lacks the equipment and expertise to do the job. In at least one instance in which the federal government has attempted to overrule BP, which was over its use of dispersant chemicals that the Environmental Protection Agency says are too toxic, the company has not complied. What do you say to those who say too much control has been ceded to BP? And what kind of changes, if any, should be made in the process for dealing with future oil spills?
3. Salazar has pledged reform of the Minerals Management Service, the agency responsible for offshore drilling, which is now recognized as having been too compliant with the wishes of the oil industry. But his proposals -- for instance, splitting the agency into separate leasing, revenue collection and oversight -- have dealt largely with the organization of the MMS. If the problem is, as you have said, a cozy culture in the agency, is it enough simply to redraw the organization chart? How can you quickly change a culture that has taken decades to develop?
4. On May 6, Salazar announced a moratorium on the issuance of final permits for "new offshore drilling activity." Critics such as the Center for Biological Diversity note, however, that this policy has never been put into writing, and that its definition "has become steadily narrower as the Interior Department changes it to exclude whatever drilling permits MMS issues on any given day." And the New York Times has reported that since the April 20 explosion on the rig, waivers have continued to be granted for drilling projects. What, exactly, does this moratorium cover?
5. Should anyone in the government be fired as the result of this disaster?
More Proof Obama is an Amateur
President Obama sends Attorney General Eric Holder down to Louisiana to figure out who to sue or arrest in the BP spill. This can be done at any time. There is no need to concern ourselves with this. BP has a vested interest in solving this problem. Diverting their attention or driving them out of business will make things worse, not better.
You Know You’re Being Brainwashed if...
You think that Obama has a clue as to what to do about this oil crisis, except to try to pass some anti-energy, cap and tax bill.
I suggested that impeachment could be on the table in 2011; Dick Morris said the same thing the other day.
If oil makes landfall on 2 or more east coast states, expect Obama’s approval rating to fall into the high 30's.
Around the time that President Obama was elected, I suggested that the government is going to pay back the news industry for their unwavering support. These are a few things gleaned from the Federal Trade Commission staff discussion draft of potential policy recommendations to support the Reinvention of Journalism. Here are some of the proposals (which, right now, are simply up for discussion):
Licensing the news: some suggest that some sort of industry-wide licensing arrangement be adopted, perhaps with the government’s help and support.
Potential government direct and indirect support or government subsidies (recall that I suggested one approach government would take is to become involved on the sub-news level, to partner with and/or support AP and other news services).
Another suggestion is to establish a “journalism” division of AmeriCorps.
Another suggesting is developing a hybrid organization, which mixes government and the private sector in some fashion or form (think FNMA and FHLMC).
Here’s the entire report:
http://www.ftc.gov/opp/workshops/news/jun15/docs/new-staff-discussion.pdf
I have continually said, we are not recovering from this recession. Dow is below 10,000, and May was the worst month since Feb. 2009, and the worst May for the Dow and the S&P since 1940 and 1962.
Obama knew from the beginning the potential impact of the BP oil gusher.
Obama chooses an adversarial relationship with BP
Come, let us reason together....
Laura Ingraham’s Advice to the President
[Laura Ingraham’s advice to Barack Obama with respect to the oil mess in the gulf]
Number 1, suspend your perpetual campaign. Quit worrying so much about winning daily news cycles and take active control of this cleanup.
Number 2, stop using every crisis to advance unpopular parts of your agenda like cap-and-trade.
Number 3, if members of your cabinet and top staff are incompetent - Ken Salazar, Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder come to mind - they should be fired.
And finally, perhaps it's time to let Sir Paul and the Jonas Brothers find a performance venue other than the East Room. Rather than singing 'Hey Jude' with your elite entertainment supporters, why not give backup to the people who really need it - those suffering along the Gulf Coast."
By Bill O'Reilly
Point No. 1: The United Nations is telling the United States to end the drone missile attacks on Al Qaeda in Pakistan.
A senior U.N. official said: "The international community does not know when and where the CIA is authorized to kill, the criteria for individuals who may be killed, [and] how it ensures the killings are legal."
The international community does not know? Good. It's none of their business. Al Qaeda attacked the USA killing nearly 3,000 people here. What did the international community do about that?
This is so outrageous. The U.N. continues to be grossly anti-American. They give quarter and sympathy to the worst terrorists on Earth.
President Obama is absolutely correct in dropping missiles on Al Qaeda strongholds. Period.
Point No. 2, and this is not good news for the president. Apparently another Democratic Senate candidate, Andrew Romanoff in Colorado, was approached about a job by the White House to get out of the race.
On the heels of Congressman Sestak, that makes two apparent violations of U.S. Code 600, which says it is illegal to entice any office seeker out of a race with the prospect of a government job.
In the case of Sestak, it was allegedly Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel involved. In the case of Romanoff, who is running against the incumbent Senator Michael Bennet, it was allegedly White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina who made the overture.
Apologists for the White House say it's business as usual. But the law is the law. We need a federal investigation. Are you hearing me, Attorney General Holder?
Point No. 3: The Los Angeles Unified School District will apparently instruct public school students that the new Arizona anti-illegal alien law is morally wrong.
Can you believe it? The nation's second largest school district is now bringing ideology and propaganda into the classroom using civics and history classes to tell children that law, supported by most of the nation, is morally repugnant.
No spin: The fact that the L.A. educators are ramming one-sided ideology down the throats of kids is the real moral outrage here.
Listen to this quote from board president Monica Garcia: "America must stand for tolerance, inclusiveness and equality. In our civics classes and in our hallways, we must give life to these values by teaching our students to value themselves, to respect others and to demand fairness and justice for all who live within our borders. Any law which violates civil rights is un-American."
So this is great. Monica Garcia is now the decider when it comes to what's un-American. Monica Garcia is the new un-American czar. Are you kidding me?
This is the worst example I have ever seen of indoctrination by a school board. The students in Los Angeles do not deserve this.
And that's "The Memo."
Promises of savings already history

Americans consistently said controlling health costs was their top priority for health reform. But Washington didn't listen, and independent experts now say the new health law actually will drive up the cost of health care and insurance premiums. Federal and state governments, as well as businesses, consumers and taxpayers, are finding they cannot afford this massive and unpopular health overhaul law.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) recently issued a revised estimate showing the law will cost $115 billion more than it projected the week before it was enacted. That puts the CBO's initial price tag at $1 trillion, still a conservative estimate that is based upon unrealistically high assumptions about cuts in Medicare spending and unrealistically low assumptions about the cost of the new law. Further, the CBO says preventive care and pilot projects designed to modernize care delivery, while important, are unlikely to reduce costs and actually may increase health spending.
A report by the Obama administration's own actuary, issued a month after Congress passed Obamacare, showed it will increase federal health spending by $311 billion over the next decade and likely much more.
The chief actuary for the administration's Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Richard S. Foster, also predicts higher health insurance premiums for individuals and businesses. One reason is the billions of dollars in new fees and excise taxes the law imposes, which Mr. Foster says will "generally be passed through to health consumers in the form of higher drug and devices prices and higher premiums." These include more than $20 billion in taxes on medical devices, $60 billion in taxes on health plans and $27 billion in taxes on prescription drug companies.
Mr. Foster's report also highlights the shaky financial footing of the new long-term-care insurance program - the CLASS (Community Living Assistance Services and Support) Act, which Sen. Kent Conrad, North Dakota Democrat, has described as "a Ponzi scheme of the first order." Mr. Foster says the program faces "a significant risk of failure" and finds the program will result "in a net federal cost in the long-term."
The CBO estimates that individuals and businesses also will face at least $120 billion in fines and penalties for failing to comply with the law's new health insurance mandates. It also says families purchasing health insurance in the individual market will pay $2,100 a year more for coverage by 2016 than they would had Obamacare not passed.
States also fear a flood of red ink. Indiana has released a study showing that the health overhaul law could cost the state an additional $3.6 billion over 10 years - money Hoosiers don't want to spend for a law that polls show they strongly oppose.
Major companies also face tax hits, fines and huge risks. Large, publicly traded companies have issued reports showing reduced earnings as a result of tax changes in Obamacare. Experts with the consulting firm Towers Watson calculate it will mean a $14 billion hit to the company's earnings because the law takes away part of a subsidy that encourages the company to provide drug coverage to retirees.
Those companies also are beginning to recognize the extraordinary risk of continuing to provide health benefits for their workers under Obamacare. "Many companies are examining a course that was heretofore unthinkable, dumping the healthcare coverage they provide to their workers in exchange for paying penalty fees to the government," according to Fortune magazine, which reviewed internal company documents.
If employers drop health insurance, taxpayers will wind up picking up the costs of coverage for millions more Americans. An analysis conducted by officials of the White Castle restaurant chain said just one provision will effectively cut the chain's net income in half and reduce future jobs creation.
These company reports are the canary in the coal mine, warning politicians, businesses and consumers of the dangers ahead. They are sounding alarm bells that Obamacare is unpopular for a reason: It will break the bank for taxpayers, consumers and American businesses.

The danger of a government with unlimited power
By George F. Will
Today, as it has been for a century, American politics is an argument between two Princetonians -- James Madison, Class of 1771, and Woodrow Wilson, Class of 1879. Madison was the most profound thinker among the Founders. Wilson, avatar of "progressivism," was the first president critical of the nation's founding. Barack Obama's Wilsonian agenda reflects its namesake's rejection of limited government.
Lack of "a limiting principle" is the essence of progressivism, according to William Voegeli, contributing editor of the Claremont Review of Books, in his new book "Never Enough: America's Limitless Welfare State." The Founders, he writes, believed that free government's purpose, and the threats to it, are found in nature. The threats are desires for untrammeled power, desires which, Madison said, are "sown in the nature of man." Government's limited purpose is to protect the exercise of natural rights that pre-exist government, rights that human reason can ascertain in unchanging principles of conduct and that are essential to the pursuit of happiness.
Wilsonian progressives believe that History is a proper noun, an autonomous thing. It, rather than nature, defines government's ever-evolving and unlimited purposes. Government exists to dispense an ever-expanding menu of rights -- entitlements that serve an open-ended understanding of material and even spiritual well-being.
The name "progressivism" implies criticism of the Founding, which we leave behind as we make progress. And the name is tautological: History is progressive because progress is defined as whatever History produces. History guarantees what the Supreme Court has called "evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society."
The cheerful assumption is that "evolving" must mean "improving." Progressivism's promise is a program for every problem, and progressivism's premise is that every unfulfilled desire is a problem.
Franklin Roosevelt, an alumnus of Wilson's administration, resolved to "resume" Wilson's "march along the path of real progress" by giving government "the vibrant personal character that is the very embodiment of human charity." He repudiated the Founders' idea that government is instituted to protect pre-existing and timeless natural rights, promising "the re-definition of these rights in terms of a changing and growing social order."
He promised "a right to make a comfortable living." Presumably, the judiciary would define and enforce the delivery of comfort. Specifically, there could be no right to "do anything which deprives others" of whatever "elemental rights" the government decides to dispense.
Today, government finds the limitless power of dispensing not in Madison's Constitution of limited government but in Wilson's theory that the Constitution actually frees government from limitations. The liberating -- for government -- idea is that the Constitution is a "living," evolving document. Wilson's Constitution is an emancipation proclamation for government, empowering it to regulate all human activities in order to treat all human desires as needs and hence as rights. Unlimited power is entailed by what Voegeli calls government's "right to discover new rights."
"Liberalism's protean understanding of rights," he says, "complicates and ultimately dooms the idea of a principled refusal to elevate any benefit that we would like people to enjoy to the status of an inviolable right." Needs breed rights to have the needs addressed, to the point that Lyndon Johnson, an FDR protege, promised that government would provide Americans with "purpose" and "meaning."
Although progressivism's ever-lengthening list of rights is as limitless as human needs/desires, one right that never makes the list is the right to keep some inviolable portion of one's private wealth or income, "regardless," Voegeli says, "of the lofty purposes social reformers wish to make of it."
Lacking a limiting principle, progressivism cannot say how big the welfare state should be but must always say that it should be bigger than it currently is. Furthermore, by making a welfare state a fountain of rights requisite for democracy, progressives in effect declare that democratic deliberation about the legitimacy of the welfare state is illegitimate.
"By blackening the skies with crisscrossing dollars," Voegeli says, the welfare state encourages people "to believe an impossibility: that every household can be a net importer of the wealth redistributed by the government." But the welfare state's problem, today becoming vivid, is socialism's problem, as Margaret Thatcher defined it: Socialist governments "always run out of other people's money."
Wilsonian government, meaning (in Wilson's words) government with "unstinted power," is hostile to Madison's Constitution, which, Madison said, obliges government "to control itself." Thus our choice is between government restraint rooted in respect for nature, or government free to follow History wherever government says History marches.

There is a black lie being foisted off on the American People, and I am compelled to set the record straight. This is a lengthy article, but I strongly advise y'all to read it, because it is about you and our future.
Politicians are claiming that free enterprise has not worked. They are blaming the greedy bankers for our economic catastrophe and high unemployment. Their claims are based in part on a truth, there is rampant greed and corruption on Wall Street, but the problem is not free enterprise. It is extremely important that we all have a clear understanding of the facts at play here, because if we accept this claim we expose our wealth generating system to more government regulation and higher taxes. We lose our prosperity because of a lie.
Free enterprise is like a magnificent racing machine, say a Ferrari. It is designed to do one thing well...careen around a track at breathtaking speed, and in that mechanical equation is the requisite durability to finish the race, and a nimble steering and suspension to respond to the driver's masterful touch.
But if you pile bales of hay across the track at several points, build barriers and sandtraps, a maze of pitfalls, the speed and agility of the machine are neutralized. The purpose for which it is so wondrously engineered is hampered by obstacles placed in its path. Keep this comparison in mind, because you are hearing spectators say that the race is lost because of the Ferrari, with no mention of the barriers.
The avarice and unseemly corruption in our high offices and corporate boardrooms is a distortion of the free market, not the result of same. The drama in Congress, with Senatorial buffoons chastising big business, is smoke and mirrors, theater designed to placate the public, redirect our ire, while they pretend to "reform" the system.
If the system was truly "reformed", and the ridicule flowing from Congressional Committees were genuine, then why are the fat cats still getting multi-million dollar bonuses? In 2008, before the melt down, bonuses totalled a jaw dropping 70 billion. Guess what is was this last year?....70 billion.
If the relationship between big business and government is so viral, why do the majority of the biggest firms and corporations donate heavily to the Democratic Party? Why would these financial gurus and CEO's fund the very people who are on their case? Wouldn't a 12 year old naturally side with the guys who are on his side, fighting for his autonomy?
Here's the REAL TRUTH!!! The truth that the people in charge don't want us to talk about. It is a myth that we all operate in a free market. In fact we have a nation split by two ideologies; the upper and lower classes are socialist, and only the vast middle class is free enterprise. This explains why we, the tax payers, carry the load for both the rich and the poor. Socialism is a parasite that feeds on a productive host. Free enterprise hasn't failed! To the contrary, it is carrying the entitled millions and the greedy rich on its back! It is a Ferrari dodging between the obstacles, and yet it generates sufficient wealth to make us productive, even while this gargantuan leech is sucking us dry.
The facts don't lie. All the outrage our elected officials have vented in the Congressional dog and pony shows is bullcrap! As soon as the hearing closes the principles arrange a golf date later that week, and accept party invitations. The theater in Congress is pabulum for us suckers, and nothing more. The rich get richer (without paying taxes), the politicians gain more power, the entitled receive more handouts, and WE PAY THE TAB. Very cozy!
Evidence of collusion is rife. Big shots from the financial sector (mostly Goldman Sachs) riddle the Obama machine. Lobbyists have tripled since Obama was elected, and a dozen hold key positions in his regime, even after he promised, with persuasive passion, that "no lobbyists would be included in his administration". At first it was only lobbyists with a "waver", and finally we stopped counting. A broken promise is forgotten, par for the course, just another political shenanigan. Line us to be sheered by the next lie.
Now we see a dynamic taking shape in which the two socialist sectors of our society are at odds, labor and the banks, but once again this is for appearances. The recent intimidation of the Bank of America V.P. by 40 busloads of the AEIU union goons is a clinical example of misdirection, deceit aimed at us, the rank and file. Union minions take marching orders from union bosses, and the bosses take orders from Command Central...the White House. In order to raise taxes, and impose Draconian regulations without a whimper from us, the Great Unwashed Masses must be convinced that the environment is explosive, labor is agitating, and the greedballs are under siege.
I want to point out that not all union members are part of this scheme. Most unions people are honest hard working Americans. For the most part they have nothing to do with what their bosses, and the paid goons who turn out to demonstrate, are doing.
But who really comes out the losers in this paradigm? WE DO! Big money caves in to union demands, but they don't lose a dime. The costs are passed along to us, the consumer. The enormous bonuses continue to flow, and union wages and benefits become more bloated. When business goes bust, because they can't meet the outrageous demands of labor, the government bails them out. Now Treasury has an open check to bail any business out if they pose a "systemic risk". There are no parameters to this unchecked power. There is no specified business that is targeted. Even small banks can be, in essence, taken over by the government, if they are a segment of a "larger picture", a system so complex that us dummies don't have the gray matter to figure it out. Geitner says they get our money, and bingo! Another domino falls to a socialist takeover.
We may not know the morass of entangled details of this arrangement, but the facts that we CAN examine give us a clear idea how this works. The trouble with a shark is that you can see his dorsal fin for a mile. A little head work, some contemplation of what is really going on, and the strategy and players come into sharp focus. The drama takes on the characteristics of a scripted production. This elaborate ruse is simple to dissect when we use our beans for something besides just sporting a ballcap.
We are being conned on an incredible scale. The scene behind the curtain is in stark contrast to what we are allowed to see, what we are told. Behind closed doors the magnates of business, the labor bosses, and the political power brokers are one inseparable blob, each party playing their role to perfection. Of course the rich blokes agree to play the fall guys and suffer public humiliation. Then they weep all the way to their enormous bank accounts, to deposit more multi-million dollar profits and bonuses. Oh yes, and let's not overlook billions of our tax dollars in bailout loot.
Now another important segment has been added to their legions...the racial minority. They fall into the socialist lower class, and they are slaves to the puppet masters in Washington, who are offering them the promised land on a platter. This explains why the politicians refuse to control our border. They want as many illegals here as possible before the next election, and before November expect an amnesty bill to be passed just in time for voting day. If not, in time for 2012.
Some recent history gives us a true perspective on our dilemma, and it also points the way to a solution. The regime of Woodrow Wilson also bankrupted America. It is not commonly known that there was a depression in the early twenties that was an even WORSE disaster than the depression of the 30's. The two conservatives that followed Wilson REJECTED A BAIL OUT, and a STIMULUS BILL. Instead they cut government spending by half, and lowered the tax rate on business from 73% to 24%.
In just ONE YEAR unemployment dropped from 12% to 2%. The GNP tripled, and the result was the "roaring twenties", one of the most prosperous periods in American history! Then (the American People never seeming to get it right once and for all) we elected another Democratic Spendocrat, FDR, and once again bigger and more invasive government plunged us into a terrible crisis.
The men who followed Wilson; Harding and Cooledge, trusted free enterprise. They loosed the free market tiger from its shackles, removed the barriers so the Ferrari was once again free to race with the peddle to the metal, and America came roaring back from the brink with an even greater explosion of wealth than we had previously enjoyed to that time. FREEDOM WORKS! It was the catalyst that made us who and what we are, and unfettered, it will weed out the malpractors and restore prosperity. The greedy guys won't get their bailouts, and they lose their enormous bonuses. They PAY FOR THEIR GREED, AND LOSE THEIR ASSES! (I meant "assets". Excuse my Freud).
The socialist predator is always stalking us from the shadows. They are driven underground when one of their front men, like Wilson and FDR, gain power, and the electorate clobber them once we figure out what they are up to. They lie in wait until another generation of gullible Americans come to voting age, and their past evils are forgotten. They cloak their message in deceit, and rehearse their script to perfection. They shout about issues of the day that gain support, mostly from the socialist-leaning upper and entitled classes. Some of us free marketeers also get snagged by their lies, but we catch on quickly. We defect to join with others who wise up, and rise up to squelch the agenda of these charlatans.
Socialism always has the same outline, regardless of the message that is crafted to disguise it...Expand government power and control, curtail the free market, take over private business, use the minions who receive freebies (or bloated union pay checks) as the muscle on the street, and silence the critics. This scheme is augmented by the propaganda machine, and the elite press unwittingly act as the state organs. In some cases they, too, are on board, but as irony would have it the professional people who gather and report information are, themselves, the most vulnerable among us. They have been party to demonizing the opponents of socialism, and they are eager to embrace the eloquent words of The Pied Piper, in this case Barack Obama. In the past it was the Roosevelts and Wilson. In their desire to hasten Utopia they are blind to their own contribution to our demise.
In spite of the tsunami rising from the middle class right now, I personally believe it is too late, that is it's too late for us humans to control this disease. This is the third time in a century that the progressives have gained power, and this is their moment in history from their perspective. Either they get all their agenda in the works, or it's over for this generation of tyrants. They have learned the lessons of two failed attempts, Wilson and FDR, and they plan to steam roll their way into total unchallenged power. This is why they are oblivious to public opinion, or any other criticism. It's do or die for them, and they are even willing to "eat their own children", force other Democrats to walk the plank, to accomplish their nefarious ends.
Bye the way, not to worry. The Dems who have fallen to the Tea Party, and disenchanted voters from all ranks, have been promised compensation. Once the progressives lock the power in place, they will nominate the losers in their elections to high positions, and sweet high paying jobs with the golden parachute.
The other tactics in the progressive playbook, other than the free enterprise scam, are also in full view. They are engaged in a full court press to fix the coming elections. They may not have all the pieces in place to take the election in November, but beyond that they have arrayed the weapons that they plan to use to win total control in 2012 and beyond.
They must marshal the enormous power of numbers, and to accomplish this they are using several tactics.
1. Use the census to redistrict voting precincts. This is why the census is now controlled by the White House. The way this works is that they first determine where the entitled are concentrated, then they redefine precinct boundaries so as to add another representative from that district, a liberal representative, more power for them. Look for this redistricting. This scheme will not necessarily garner votes, but more liberal Congressmen and Senators in their camp.
2. Win the Latino vote by sympathizing with the illegals, passing an amnesty bill, and allowing Mexicans to continue flowing across our borders (24 million votes, perhaps more).
3. Impose statehood on Puerto Rico, even though the people of that territory have turned statehood down twice. This is now underway. A delegation has been dispatched to P.R. to "investigate" this measure.( 4-5 million votes).
4. Seat representatives from D.C., a measure strictly prohibited by the Constitution because D.C. is heavily populated by the political class. Only the states can legitimately seat reps. (4 million votes).
5. Drastically expand entitlements to lure more voters into bondage and placate those already getting food stamps, welfare, medicare, medicade, huge union salaries and benefits, reparations, grants, federal contracts, and now industries that are "too big to fail", and the unemployed on jobless benefits. The government now has exclusive control of college grants and state sponsored scholarships, so students and strapped parents will also be beholden to them.
The question looms....can we vanquish this juggernaut? If the strategy outlined, above, can net them 50 million votes they can win re-election in 2012, and from that point...who knows? My guess is they would create a national crisis and declare martial law. Obama is declared president in perpetuity, and we're sunk!
And bye the way....another imperative is now in the works; DISARM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. Obama already tried this early on, but had to settle for severely restricting ammunition and hand loading materials. The NRA is powerful in this country. BUT Hillary Clinton is now in negotiations with members of the United Nations to craft a GLOBAL GUN BAN. The House has also passed a Draconian gun bill, and the legislation is awaiting action by the Senate. They will keep at this until they are successful.
THE PEOPLE MUST BE DISARMED! When the axe falls, martial law is declared, and the progressives make their move to take total control, they cannot have an armed population! This is The Big Trump Card, something they may not be able to control. If they cannot take our guns away, and they win re-election by their chicanery, the way to revolution, armed rebellion, will be thrown wide open. A disenfranchised middle class will not be subjected to totalitarian government, and all hell will break loose.
In my view only God can pull our sorry butts from this stew! We have been hornswaggled into electing the most radical socialist since Wilson, and they have had 50 years to formulate their plan of action. The events we see taking place at light speed are elements of a well organized, well funded, and well implemented strategy, and they are leading us to be sheered for generations to come. God can deliver us, but as I see it the only path we will have in the future is an armed uprising (if we can't stop them at the voting booth), and that my friends will be a very, very messy scenario, one we all dread to see. I've seen a nation embroiled in war, and trust me, we don't want this to happen in America!
Pray to our Benevolent Father to once again prevail against the forces of darkness, and redeem us from our foolishness. The Bible relates the history of His People, The Jews, when they had strayed and began worshipping the idols we are now allowing to rule. One man, a prophet, went to God, prayed to Him to forgive them. God said on that occasion that he would restore them to the land, and re-establish them as His People, and He would be their God, because one humble man confessed their transgressions. God is anxious to save us, but we must turn to Him and ask His mercy.
In human terms our enemies hold all the cards. They are at the controls, and it appears that even our votes will be rendered meaningless if they succeed. These people are dead serious! They are rabid anti-capitalist, anti-freedom, anti-American. They don't give a damn what you or I want, or what the Constitution says. They intend to force their will upon us by whatever means it takes. The steam roller we have seen in operation with the stimulus and healthcare bills are child's play compared to what is coming if they gain unbridled power.
by Richard O’Leary
There are two general groups of people...independent thinkers and "the herd". Both of these groups cut across all political and social boundaries, which is to say that there are liberals and conservatives, a pantheon of races, rich and poor who fall into one or the other of these groups.
The independent thinker accepts nothing verbatim, unless they have already examined the facts of a matter beforehand, and are well informed. Knowledge is the basis of their determinations.
Those of the herd mentality identify someone who CLAIMS to agree with them, and then they believe anything this source tells them. This is why you meet someone from the herd and they despise guys like Beck because they've been told they're evil. They have never even seen or heard one of their programs.
You notice I have emphasized the word "claims" in the above statements. This is the Achilles heel of the herd, and the reason should be clear... anyone can say they hold any belief or value, and if the hearer is predisposed to accept what they say without looking at the facts, to determine the credentials of the source, they become gullible in the extreme, and easily manipulated.
We have a bloated and corrupt government because millions of Americans have fallen into the herd mentality. Those who would manipulate us are cunning, and savvy on the subject of human nature. Like a predator is lured to the scent of blood, the manipulator is drawn to the herd. They know these people are prime for their propaganda, and they exploit them brilliantly.
Look around, check out the news, not only are most of the press of the herd ilk, but half of the American People are as well. Take the Arizona law for example. I've seen liberals who favor amnesty, but are nonetheless independent thinkers. They do not agree with the law, but then they do not agree with federal immigration law either. They fairly conclude that the Arizona law is not racist or bigoted. In fact it is almost the federal law, word for word. Independent thinkers do not necessarily make up one voting bloc of similar mind, but the facts weight heavily in their views, no matter what their political persuasion.
On the other hand we have the herd. Like drones they spew forth the talking points of the manipulators. They have not read the law, and they immediately dismiss any reasonable explanation of the law, because they are joined at the hip to their manipulators. They remain subservient puppets and shout slanders and falsehoods that their manipulators have programmed into their minds.
This dynamic of the human condition puzzles me. The herd possess a brain. They have the same "input devices" that we all have, the 5 senses. Yet even when the facts are emblazoned in bold letters, with warning lights flashing, they slavishly ignore the truth. You can imagine that the master manipulators in power today are absolutely delighted by this terrible flaw in us. They utterly depend on the programmed response of their herd, because without the strength of numbers they are powerless.
How do we tell the difference between these two groups? Simple...the herd do not debate the issues. They assault any opponent with the same invective; vile slanders and maligning. They do not address the issues, and this is understandable, because they have no facts. They cannot win an argument on the merit of reason, because reason is based upon sound facts. They have not investigated, nor moved so much as a finger to discover the truth. Their puppet masters have taught them to react with mindless anger. They toss in nasty sarcasm on their own. The herd bound are mean spirited, unreasonable fonts of condemnation, and no attempt at reconciliation moves them.
People of an independent mind can also issue forth an accusation, and they may resort to sarcasm, but at some point they are inclined to be more civil, and more forgiving of dissent. They recognize the futility of childish bickering, because among the truths they grasp is the danger of blind hatred, and their objectives are upright. They want solutions, not confrontation. They give in to anger occasionally, in their frustration, but they recover. No worthwhile end can come of negative emotions.
To further complicate this matter, manipulators have evolved. they have designed more tools for their campaign, besides just their palatable bullcrap. Once elected they have formidable assets to add to their arsenal of deception. They can pass entitlements, and hook even more of the electorate. When ideology isn't the effective narcotic to addict their victims they appeal to greed. They employ our fear of public ridicule, and play the racism card. They use the "doomsday scenario" as the leverage to enact their evil climate legislation.
I am very encouraged to see a migration taking place, an awakening. The saving grace of a herdster is that they can snap out of their trance when they finally see the light! This usually occurs when something their manipulators do that hurts them personally; rifles their wallet, or takes away a treasured privilege, and they are driven to another source for their information. The obvious choice of their defection is the opposing point of view.
Thus, millions of herdsters are giving Glenn Beck, or Hannity, or Laura Ingram, or one of the many conservative commentators a hearing. And guess what??? They suddenly discover, much to their amazement, that if they open their minds just a cranny, and some truth filters in, their former slumbering mentality is quickened! Their interest is piqued, and they start paying attention. What they are hearing makes perfect sense, and even if they disagree with some, or even much of what they hear, they recognize that they have been conned!
The flip side of "The Herd Syndrome" is the innate human attribute of curiosity, and suspicion animates curiosity. On the mere suspicion that someone has played them for a fool, they actually examine the facts for once. In our day we have incredible information resources, and they are able to watch their former manipulators condemn themselves by their own words! Even if they still cling to their biases, and can't listen to Beck et al, they can go to Youtube and watch the video for themselves. Thus millions of reluctant herdsters are joining the ranks of the informed disenchanted.
The ironic thing is that former herdsters are the most vigorous Obama opponents! Once they come to their senses, by whatever stimulus, they are driven by their resentment initially. This flawed motive is gradually replaced by a growing concern for their nation, and our future. Becoming educated on the truth of the matter, they realize that our dilemma is far more expansive then their personal distain. They come to understand that our nation is in jeopardy, and like all of those who have the facts, they are being galvanized to action.
They also realize that the manipulators they once served are foul liars, and they do not really believe in the values they espouse. It is a sham. They do not care about the needy. They use the needy to their advantage. Even the indigent cast a vote, so they give them freebies to buy that vote.
They don't give a hoot about the families who are here unlawfully, torn apart by their illegal status. Sentimentality is not one of their attributes. Their motive is not to spare poor families the pain of separation. Illegals will vote when they pass amnesty, or whatever. They may have a "path to citizenship", but it will cede former fugitives the right to the vote, and the manipulators want every one.
Manipulators do not respect the blacks or the Mexicans. They do not care about their equal rights. This principle is just another tool in their repertoire of control tactics. If nothing else works, scream "Racism!!!" They use minorities by massaging their emotions, inciting their anger. Millions of them are willing herdsters. They are kept in bondage by their addiction to either freebies or emotion, or both.
How demeaning is that? To play the role of a hapless dupe? A posturing fool? I can imagine that herdsters who recover from this malaise suffer a period of shame. They come face to face with the reality that they were brutally exploited to serve a nefarious end. And if I were a black person, or a Mexican with all the perks they receive, I would be ashamed that I surrendered my fierce pride, my freedom, my very identity for so cheap a price.
When you live by a lie the consequences are terrible. You contribute to social unrest. You erode the fabric of our society. You lose self-respect, for unfounded indignation, excited by cries of "racism!" is not self-esteem. It is founded on a lie, and will eat away your soul like an acid. It will leave a foul residue of hatred, and eventually it will consume you. This is the vile work of the carpetbaggers among us, those who intentionally destroy lives and incite mayhem to achieve their devices. they care only for themselves, and naked power is their obsession. Their victims are those whom share an ulterior motive, not patriotism, or sacrifice for a virtuous cause, but their own enrichment, or to express their loathing of those they have been taught to hate.
Some of the most egregious manipulators are the charlatans of the black race who exploit their own people, such as Farakkan and Wright. Their message is one of bigotry and distain. But what basis in fact is there to these claims? Is this their true motive? To address injustice? I suggest that one merely look at their personal lives to answer this question. Jeremiah Wright has an 8 million line of credit from Bank of America, and he has built a million dollar palatial estate in the WHITE UPPERCLASS neighborhood, populated with those he demonizes every Sunday. Louis Farakkan lives a couple doors away. It would seem that brandishing their phony shield to allegedly protect their poor persecuted followers pays very well!
I also note that a man who was, truly, a man of the people, and who DID believe in equal rights, and the welfare of his people, was not lavishing Cadillacs and baronial mansions upon himself. Martin King was not a multi-millionaire, and he did not enrich himself at his people's expense. No man has ever been in a more ideal position to amass millions on the backs of those who loved and trusted him, but to his credit he did not sink so low.
Manipulators secretly loathe homosexuals, unless they are one. They are repulsed by their private habits, but gays are voters, so give them whatever they want. Enough said.
The burning question of our day is; will enough of the herd be persuaded to study the facts in time to take back our country? For this reason I, personally, am glad that Obama has two more years to wreck havoc on our nation. As more of his drachonian policies emerge the number of defectors from the herd continues to grow, and his poll ratings continue to decline. His departure from the center has been so complete that no vestige of his cleverly devised campaign platform has survived. He has come out of "the ideological closet", and the shape of his vision is becoming increasingly clear. It is obvious that his years in Wright's church was yet another dimension of the strategy that catapulted him into power. He had to be expunged of the stigma of Islam, yet by his actions we can see that he is a Muslim at heart. I see no particular reason to condemn a man for being a Muslim, but I am suspicious of a man who would conceal his faith by trickery, merely for the sake of imagery. This is not an expression of faith that the One True God would receive. I'm not a believer in Allah, but I suspect that the faithful who do worship him are not impressed by Obama's disguise.
The manipulator is a user who exploits everything and everyone to his perceived advantage, even his religion. Please note that Wright has come out with an Obama bashing book that claims the president threw him under the bus, once Obama had what he wanted. So what did you expect Jerry? You of all people, a master at manipulation yourself? This is another characteristic of the puppeteer...they are loyal to no one. Any person who obstructs their path to conquest is expendable.
This aspect of manipulatorship is very troubling, the "Judas Syndrome", because a user is loyal to no man, nor does he serve a value system. His decisions are based entirely upon the ends he strives to achieve. All principles of conduct and honor are trumped by the drive to achieve victory. In this quest he will employ any device, no matter how despicable, so long as it serves his purpose.
So what can we expect further of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, or Barack Obama, and nearly all of his administration? This is the most formidable group of manipulators ever assembled, and betrayal is in their DNA. The sovereignty of the United States is fodder to them, meaningless. Their objective is globalism, bringing all nations under one central government. They are not content with the power they already have, not when there is more power to be harnessed. They want to govern the world, not merely one nation.
This global vision is why they attack Arizona so vigorously, and refuse to solve the immigration problem. They want open borders, a universal citizenship scenario. Immigration laws are an obstacle to this grandiose illusion, and we can surely expect Congress to pass a bill that allows the illegals to remain here.
Yet another tentacle of this monster, globalism, is the understanding among participating nations that the wealth must be taken from the haves, and distributed to the have-nots. In our world today a yearly income of $30,000.00 is in the upper 7% of the world's population. Very few Americans are "poor" by international standards. This means that the citizens of wealthy nations will be forced to subsidize developing nations. Our substance will be taxed and distributed to the poverty stricken. Among the many weapons the puppet masters deploy, the environmental juggernaut is their most destructive bomb. With a seriously flawed rationale, much of which has already been exposed as utter nonsense, they forge ahead with plans to pass a carbon tax, further regulate industry, and keep us under the thumb of foreign energy suppliers. Eco issues are the only issues that apply to all countries, all societies.
The coming conflagration is looming on our near horizon; the independent thinkers who value our liberty vs. the puppet masters and their impetuous herd. I for one hope that this battle can be confined to the voting booth, but I suspect it will not. Before this is over the minions in our midst will be issued marching orders, as they were recently when they sent 14 busloads of agitators to camp out on a bank executive's front yard, and terrify him and his family. The manipulators will not be vanquished easily, and their form of combat is true to their creed....whatever it takes, no holds barred. If the independent crowd threaten them, then resort to tactics of intimidation. They send SEIU and Black Panthers out with ball bats, and terrorize everyone in their periphery, scare voters away from the polls. This is what we can expect.
With DoJ threatening prosecution, Obama slams BP for `lawyering up'
By: Byron York
On his trip to the Gulf today, President Obama criticized BP for spending millions of dollars on a new public relations campaign addressing the Gulf oil crisis, and also for planning to pay $10 billion in dividends to investors. "They've got a moral and legal obligation to the Gulf," Obama said, according to a White House pool report. The president added he doesn't want BP "nickel and diming the folks down here."
Then Obama addressed the question of damages and other financial claims against BP. According to the pool report, BP and Coast Guard officials whose job it is to handle claims "are stationed with each parish president in Louisiana, and [Obama] wants the same arrangement for county governments in all the affected states."
At that point, the pool report says Obama "lit into BP" because he wants to - Obama's words - "make sure that BP is not lawyering up essentially."
Just two days ago, Attorney General Eric Holder traveled to Louisiana to announce that the Justice Department has begun criminal and civil investigations into the oil spill. As a result of that investigation, BP and other companies could be charged with violating a variety of environmental laws, as well as other crimes. Holder pledged to prosecute any offenders "to the fullest extent of the law." The prosecution could result in enormous penalties and losses for BP beyond what has already occurred because of the spill. And now the president himself goes after BP for "lawyering up." The company certainly has huge obligations as a result of its actions in this matter. But surely the constitutional-law-professor-in-chief would concede their right to a legal defense. If you were facing a full-scale federal investigation in which the attorney general personally pledged to punish you "to the fullest extent of the law," you might well consider lawyering up.

After first stonewalling, the White House yester day confirmed that it tried to lure Andrew Romanoff out of the Colorado Senate primary with an administration job, to help its preferred candidate, incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet.
Sound familiar?
The Denver Post ran a story on the rumored job offer last September -- but White House spokesman Adam Abrams said then, "Romanoff was never offered a position within the administration."
Under the Bill Clinton standard, that's true: There was no formal "offer." But Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina's e-mail outlined in great specificity three government jobs that happened to be open, should Romanoff (who'd previously been denied an administration job) decide not to run.
The White House's reasoning is migraine-inducing: It insists it didn't offer a job -- but also that the president has an interest in influencing party primaries. But if the president wasn't offering a job, then what was he doing to prevent a primary contest?
He was offering a job. Stop insulting our intelligence.
But that's not the worst. To justify the presidential interest in influencing party primaries, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs yesterday noted, "We went through a contested primary, and they aren't fun things." Huh?
By that logic, Obama should have been pushed out of the 2008 primaries to avoid a contentious fight and give the establishment candidate, Hillary Clinton, a walk to the nomination. At the outset, she was by far the favored candidate.
Does the White House not see the irony in trying to entice two insurgents (Romanoff and Pennsylvania 's Joe Sestak) out of challenging the establishment choice?
Many Beltway talkers are claiming that the president actually has the "right," as head of the party, to clear the field in primaries. Sorry, the only people with the right to choose a nominee are primary voters. We live in the United States , not some Middle Eastern dictatorship (or, apparently, Chicago ).
When I voted for Obama, I voted for him to be president, not for him to use government jobs or perks to drive out qualified challengers in Democratic primaries.
It's maddening to hear the claim that a president has a "right" to use taxpayer-funded jobs (or even an advisory-board post) to consolidate his political power. One of the most frustrating problems in American politics is the power of incumbency, which leaves our government a sewer of career politicians who are nearly impossible to depose once they get elected.
What the president has a "right" to do is to use his own time to help a candidate raise money or campaign. He has no right whatsoever to dole out to his cronies jobs that American taxpayers expect to be filled with qualified candidates.
Then there's the blather that voters don't care about this stuff or actually expect the president to behave this way.
Wrong again. In the last year, we've seen revolts against backroom deals over health reform (anger that may have been the final straw in electing Sen. Scott Brown). Here in New York , Democrats revolted when the White House tried to pressure Gov. Paterson from running to keep his job. Yes, Paterson later dropped out on his own -- but the Marist poll found 62 percent of voters and 51 percent of Democrats saying the administration should butt out.
Indeed, the recent revelations raise the question of just what offers the White House made to clear the way for Andrew Cuomo -- and for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.
Here's an idea for the Obama White House: Stop meddling. You do your job, and let the American voters do theirs. kirstenpowers@aol.com

Oil spill tests President Obama's management style
By Glenn Thrush & Carol E. Lee
Barack Obama has done more to expand government than any president since Lyndon B. Johnson, but the Gulf oil crisis is testing his ability to master the federal bureaucracy in a way no other crisis has - with decidedly mixed results.
The first president since John F. Kennedy to take office without executive branch experience, Obama has struggled for the past month to find the right balance between micro- and macro-management as the Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico has grown into an environmental cataclysm and political disaster.
People who have worked closely with Obama say he doesn't think like a bureaucrat, is far more interested in changing the way Washington works than in understanding its machinations and isn't excited by the kind of gears-of-government reforms that interested a previous generation of Democrats, particularly Al Gore.
The Gulf crisis has shed light on the strengths and weaknesses of Obama's unique management style, which relies on a combination of his own intellect, a small circle of trusted advisers and a larger group of outside experts. But it's also driven home a more generic lesson all presidents learn sooner or later: Administrations are defined, fairly or not, by their capacity to control stagnant backwater agencies, in Obama's case the Minerals Management Service, which failed to detect problems with the Deepwater Horizon well.
"This is a centralized government power guy from the word go, and this may be the best education Obama may get on the ineffectiveness of government and just how hard it is to get the bureaucracy to solve problems," said John Sununu, the former New Hampshire governor who was an iron-fisted, chief of staff to President George H. W. Bush.
"He's strong on decision-making but weak on implementation and follow through," said John Burke, a University of Vermont professor who has studied presidential management.
"This is what you get when you elect someone with legislative, not executive experience," Burke added. "Legislators don't really have to rely on people to implement their laws - their job is to get them passed. He seems to be that kind of guy, as evidenced by the whole set-up down there [in the Gulf], which is organizationally odd."
Burke says he's already seen Obama make good adjustments, but the drip-drip of bad news, much of it now out of the president's control, "makes the oil spill less like Hurricane Katrina and more like the Iranian hostage crisis" under President Jimmy Carter.
Much of Obama's energy has been exerted in the legislative arena pushing through the stimulus, health care reform and the Wall Street overhaul. If George W. Bush's West Wing was controlled by political operatives and executive branch control freaks, Obama's has been dominated by his political guru David Axelrod, former congressman Rahm Emanuel and a cast of former congressional aides who transformed Obama's hope-change agenda into a record of concrete, even historical legislative achievement.
The ongoing economic crisis vested in Obama an extraordinary freedom to act during his first year in office, allowing him to float above the mundane management tasks that have occupied many presidents. Plus, there's been a succession of international crises, two wars and a series of political setbacks for Democrats. With all that has been on Obama's plate, who has had time to debate the overhaul of the Interior Department?
Even Obama's harshest critics acknowledge that the Deepwater Horizon spill, gushing a mile below the surface, is beyond the technical capacity of the federal government to fix. But Obama himself has identified a series of early missteps and oversights made by his administration that contributed to the crisis: Federal agencies accepted BP's outrageously low initial estimates of the spill rate, although the White House says the flow rate has nothing to do with the government's response; the administration didn't move quickly enough to reform MMS, as Interior Secretary Ken Salazar proposed; and the Coast Guard was slow in deploying booms and other oil-blocking materials requested by Gulf area governments.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and other local officials have been far more critical, saying Obama's team failed to aggressively push on-scene federal agencies. The administration, they say, dragged its feet in green-lighting a plan to block some oil with sand barriers and took too long to deploy containment booms, in some cases waiting until the first wave of crude lapped into coastal wetlands.
"It's really difficult for presidents to find the right altitude to fly at," said former Clinton adviser Paul Begala, an Obama supporter. "You don't want to be Jimmy Carter, scheduling the White House tennis court - and you don't want to be Ronald Reagan, not even knowing the name of your HUD secretary. I think all in all, President Obama has found the right altitude."
Still, Begala cautioned: "On this BP issue, he's flown far too high. ... I think we need more of a hands-on, take-charge kind of attitude. . I worry that he has too much faith in experts. I hear this a lot, `we'll put the best people in the room.' They will mislead you."
White House officials are clearly tired of the Monday morning quarterbacking - especially by Begala's former partner, Louisiana native and political analyst James Carville - and say they have been planning for worst-case scenarios from Day One, regardless of BP's estimates of the spill's severity.
The administration has created a commission to study the spill, initiated a Justice Department probe into BP's actions and sent the company a $69 million cleanup bill. Obama has made three trips to the region - two in the past week alone, including a Friday tour of coastal Louisiana, where he huddled with local officials, announced a plan to quickly expedite damage claims against BP and taped his weekly radio address.
In an interview with E.J. Dionne of The Washington Post, Obama senior adviser David Axelrod cast the trouble as a public relations problem rather than a management failure. "Nobody can look at the response and say we were slow in doing what we were doing," he said, adding, "We didn't communicate it well."
The Obama White House has a history of blaming its sub-par handling of a situation on communications, including the health care debate and the implementation of the stimulus bill. Critics like Sununu say that's a dodge - and that the White House has yet to establish a coherent structure for the response.
"They need to separate this into two pieces: stopping the leak, which is BP's responsibility, and the clean-up, which is the government's job - but the Obama administration hasn't figured this out yet," Sununu said. "All you need from BP for the cleanup is a check. They shouldn't be involved otherwise."
"This is an administration that believes in management by rhetoric," he added. "They really haven't come to grips with this."
Obama tends to lean on a small inner circle of insiders to make big decisions and few of them have extensive experience in the executive branch or in running businesses. Not that such experience is a guarantee of anything - Sununu was fired by the President George H.W. Bush because of his imperious management style.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs points to the experience of Emanuel, who served in the Clinton White House before running for Congress, and senior adviser Pete Rouse, a 30-year Capitol Hill veteran, though neither has run a big organization.
"Part of the role that Rahm played in the Clinton administration was in moving decisions," Gibbs said. "Getting those actions to go from thought to real policy. Pete Rouse deals with Cabinet people. And obviously, you've got a whole section of Cabinet affairs that helps to coordinate everything that's going on."
Perhaps the most distinctive element of Obama's management style is his reliance on the oft-ridiculed "czar" system. During the spill, for instance, Obama has turned over day-to-day supervisory responsibilities to environment adviser Carol Browner, an administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency in the Clinton administration, and counterterrorism adviser John Brennan, a career CIA official who was CEO of a consulting firm after leaving the agency.
With a few exceptions - Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Education Secretary Arne Duncan - Obama hasn't developed a strong rapport with his Cabinet. Top aides to cabinet members often grouse they are out of the loop, according to several department officials who spoke on condition of anonymity. "You don't know anything until someone in the White House calls over and says, `You're doing this, you're doing that," said one former administration staffer. "It's frustrating."
Obama - a lightning quick study - prefers to dip in and out on issues, micro-focusing on things he cares deeply about or on crises. Offshore drilling fit neither of those categories until the Deepwater Horizon rig sunk on April 20.
Just 18 days earlier - on April 2 - Obama insisted drilling is safe and a massive spill unlikely, despite the industry's mixed safety record and what he now decries as an overly "cozy" relationship between MMS and Big Oil. The president made the announcement in hopes of wooing conservative backing for his energy bill - but he proceeded without challenging norms and questioning any basic assumptions.
Every modern president has had to wrestle the bureaucracy and juggle the micro with the macro. But despite his oft-repeated attacks on the "culture of Washington," Obama doesn't seem to possess the bone-deep distrust of federal bureaucrats that many of his predecessors with executive experience possessed.
In 1980, for example, during Bill Clinton's first term as Arkansas governor, Cuban detainees being housed at federal facility at Fort Chaffee rioted - and Clinton was furious with Carter for reacting too slowly to the crisis, which cost Clinton reelection. Clinton seldom trusted what Cabinet officials told him - and was suspicious even of his own appointees, often with good reason.
Gibbs, though, dismisses the notion that Obama was too trusting of the agencies handling the oil spill, saying Salazar had planned to reform oversight of offshore drilling but was preempted by the disaster.
"There's no doubt that more has to be done and more needs to be done to make sure that we don't have that type of cozy relationship," he said.
Asked if Obama has expressed frustration with the agencies, he said, "I don't think he's thought, `Oh, we just need to totally reorganize.' . I think you've just got so many moving parts."

But Obama isn't
BY Fred Barnes
When the White House sent word to Senate Republicans on May 21 that President Obama wished to come to their weekly lunch the next day to talk about bipartisanship, Republicans agreed. But they were baffled. Just the day before, a story on the front page of the Washington Post had cited the successful efforts by the Obama administration to kill bipartisan agreement on the recently passed bill to stiffen regulation of financial markets.
The president was unabashed. He told Republicans he needed their help-their bipartisanship-on seven pieces of legislation on subjects ranging from immigration to energy to a "jobs" bill. It was, Republican senators later noted, not so much an appeal as a lecture.
Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, who'd sought to negotiate a bipartisan financial reform bill, was among the first to question Obama. Corker started by recalling the "warm relations" they'd had when Obama was a senator.
"Still do," Obama replied, according to Corker.
But the cordiality vanished as Corker continued. He told Obama there was "a degree of audacity in your being here today."
"What's your question?" Obama interrupted.
"My prologue is not long," Corker replied. He asked the president to "show me the respect .??.??. of listening to all of it." Then he mentioned the Post story on how the White House tried "to keep [bipartisanship] from happening."
Obama was asking for bipartisanship from Republican senators, but he had rejected it on financial reform, health care, and the economic stimulus. "How do you reconcile that duplicity?" Corker asked Obama.
The president's response was meandering. It reminded Corker of Obama's inconclusive 17-minute answer to a question about tax increases at a town hall meeting in early April. It was, Corker said, "a nothing answer."
Obama's appearance was a failure. Republican senators weren't appeased. They couldn't understand why he would appeal for bipartisanship as if he were actually pursuing it. He was talking to people who he surely realized knew better. He appeared to be oblivious, unaware, uninformed.
But Obama's real problem is that the era of hope and change is over, and he hasn't adjusted to it. He's confronted by a debt crisis, the oil spill, and high unemployment. These are front-burner issues a president is expected to address seriously and on which he'll be held accountable. Yet Obama is still stuck on his old agenda. And he dwells on sentiments like bipartisanship that no longer resonate.
It's as if he's relying on note cards from the early days of his presidency (nearly 17 months ago). Meanwhile, the world has moved on. When the world changed for FDR, he switched from "Dr. New Deal" to "Dr. Win the War." Obama hasn't switched. He's still "Dr. Enact My Agenda."
At his press conference on May 27, Obama exploited the oil spill to tout his energy and global warming legislation. Cap and trade would "jumpstart a permanent transition to a clean energy economy," he said. Fine, but how about dealing with the economy we have now?
Last week at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, he touted small steps he's taken to aid the economy. But that was peripheral to the larger point of his speech, captured by USA Today with its headline, "Obama Urges Expansion of Agenda."
Even the media, curtailing their worshipful phase, have figured out that Obama is underperforming. But their explanation, that the president lacks passion, is beside the point. What's required from Obama is strong leadership and effective crisis management. He's offered neither.
As the spill continued to gush oil into the Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal sought approval from Washington to construct 24 sand berms to protect coastal marshlands. The state's congressional delegation backed the idea and Republican representative Steve Scalise, whose district is near the coast, called the White House to speak to Obama about the request. He heard back from a junior aide.
Obama could have approved the berms instantly with a phone call. Instead, he allowed Jindal's urgent appeal to get mired down in the bureaucracy. At his press conference, he said:
“When I met with [Jindal] when I was down there two weeks ago, I said I will make sure our team immediately reviews this idea, that the Army Corps of Engineers is looking at the feasibility of it, and if they tell me that this is the best approach to dealing with this problem, then we're going to move quickly to execute it. If they have a disagreement with Gov. Jindal's experts as to whether this would be effective or not, whether it was going to be cost-effective, given the other things that need to be done, then we'll sit down and try to figure that out.”
That's the explanation of a president not given to decisive leadership. It took two weeks for a single berm to be approved. Later five more were.
Obama isn't giving up his old rhetoric, straw men, or inaccurate anecdotes either. He went out of his way to attack Republicans in his Carnegie Mellon speech, invoking the straw man of those who believe "that government has little or no role to play in helping this nation meet our collective challenges." Makes you wonder why he'd want to do bipartisan deals with them.
And no matter how many times Obama's tales are knocked down, he never lets go. "When I went to meet with [House Republicans] about the need for a Recovery Act, in the midst of crisis, they announced they were against it before I even arrived at the meeting," he said at Carnegie Mellon last week. He didn't mention that the Democratic stimulus bill-in effect, his bill-had been introduced the day before. Republican input: none.
Who'd have thought Obama would be so inflexible? A new reality sets in and the president declines to recognize it. "He's doing what he wants to do instead of dealing with the country as it is today," says Corker. Obama proceeds on this course at his peril.

We will be paying the price of our outlandish debt for generations
By Michael Tanner
$13,050,826,460,886.97
That's what the National Debt topped this week, a record.
Go ahead, let it soak in: Thirteen trillion, fifty billion, eight hundred twenty-six million, four hundred sixty thousand, eight hundred eighty-six dollars . . . and ninety-seven cents.
Seen on the "debt clock" in Times Square, that number seems little more than an abstraction, something almost impossible to process. But think about it this way: If you earned one dollar every second, it would take you 416,000 years to earn enough money to pay it off. Or consider: Alex Rodriguez earned $33 million last year, making him the highest paid player in baseball. It would take nearly 400,000 Rodriguezes to earn that much money.
But that's what our children and grandchildren now owe.
Actually, that's just part of the debt we have dumped on future generations. That's because most of what the government owes isn't on the official books.
Social Security, for instance, faces unfunded liabilities of more than $15.8 trillion. And while that sounds like a lot of money, it is dwarfed by Medicare's looming budget shortfall of between $50 trillion and $100 trillion, depending on which accounting measure is used.
So the real national debt may be as much as nine times bigger than the official estimate.
No wonder the bond-rating firm Moody's recently warned that the US government was at risk of losing its AAA credit rating.
This is not a partisan issue. When George W. Bush became president, the entire federal budget was $1.2 trillion. By the time he left office, it was $2.9 trillion, the biggest increase since World War II. A budget surplus in 2000 had become a $400 billion deficit at the end of Bush's term.
Contrary to Republican mythology, it was not just because of increased defense spending and the "war on terror." President Bush increased domestic discretionary spending faster than any president since Lyndon Johnson. His signature accomplishment was a new Medicare prescription drug entitlement that added more than $13 trillion to the program's future liabilities.
But President Obama makes Bush look like a skinflint. He's proposed a budget this year that would top $3.8 trillion.
His signature initiative so far is a new health care entitlement, which will add hundreds of billions to the federal deficit over the next 10 years, and trillions more beyond that.
As a result of this bipartisan profligacy, federal spending topped 24.7% of gross domestic product last year, the highest peacetime percentage in US history. The optimistic projections of the most recent Obama budget see that declining ever so slightly to 23.7% by 2020 (for comparison, the historical average has been roughly 21% of GDP). But that respite, such as it is, will be only temporary. As the full force of entitlement programs kicks in, the federal government will consume more than 40% of GDP by the middle of the century, and rise to an unfathomable 80% of GDP beyond that.
Congress doesn't seem to care, treating debt as an abstraction, monopoly money, someone else's problem. Let them deal with what happens when the US becomes Greece. Except that day may be sooner than they think.
There is no way to tax our way out of this mess. Just keeping up with currently projected spending would require raising both the corporate tax rate and top income tax rate from their current 35% to 88%, the current 25% tax rate for middle-income workers to 63%, and the 10% tax bracket for low-income workers to 25%.
And that's just at the federal level. State and local taxes would be added on top of that.
Does anyone really believe that our economy can survive that kind of taxation?
If Democrats and Republicans continue to spend like drunken sailors, it won't really matter who pays the bar bill.
Whether government borrows the money or raises it in taxes, every dollar that government spends is a dollar siphoned off from American workers, making us less productive, less prosperous and less free.
Sooner or later, someone is going to have to have the courage to say "No."
Surprisingly, that line may be drawn here - in New York and New Jersey. In Jersey, which faces a nearly $1 billion budget shortfall, Gov. Chris Christie has refused to raise taxes, and has made real cuts in state spending. Meanwhile, Andrew Cuomo, the leading candidate to become New York's next governor, has rejected a proposal by Lt. Gov. Richard Ravitch to borrow $6 billion to close the state's budget gap. Perhaps at least some politicians are learning to live within their means.
Now, if only a tiny bit of that courage would bubble up to Congress.

Beck on the SEIU Demonstration
BECK: OK. This is SEIU and they're doing a protest. The media barely covered this. This is at a guy's house, OK?
Now, let me tell you the story. Greg Baer is a dad. He's a banker. He's a dad. He enjoyed last Sunday afternoon watching his youngest son play in a Little League Baseball game.
I have to tell you, I was Sunday afternoon playing fris-bat with my son Raph. We play fris-bat because I'm better at throwing a bat than I am a baseball. And at one point, my 5-year-old son did the same thing he did with the baseball and picked up a Frisbee and said, "Dad, you're not really good at this either." I'm not.
I didn't play sports as a kid but I love playing with my son and I can't wait to do what Greg did on Sunday, watch my son play baseball. Unfortunately for Greg, his day was about to turn for the worst. He was driving home after the game, no doubt talking about the highs and the lows of the game with his son.
And he was shocked to find out what was waiting for him when he got home, an angry mob of protesters. The protesters surrounding his house, screaming, yelling, bloody murder. Greg was horrified -- not only because his younger son was sitting in the car with him. Can you imagine as a parent -- can you turn the audio down, please?
As a parent, he was sitting there and his youngest son was in the car and they pulled up to this, at his house. Now, can you imagine what your kid is thinking? Can you imagine the fear? Can you imagine what you feel as a parent? Not just because this son is sitting next to you seeing this, but because you realize now that your 14-year-old son is in the home all by himself.
These protesters were bussed in, 14 buses filled with 500 people. They poured out of the buses like locusts on this man's property, right up to the house.
Greg's son Jack, he's alone in the house. He was so frightened, the mob was yelling, becoming angrier. He didn't know what to do. He went in the bathroom and locked himself in the bathroom and then he called his dad's cell phone.
Dad, still in the car, is now faced with a decision. What would you do? You've got one young son. You have this surrounding your house. You have another son inside.
What do you do? Are you going to leave this one in the car? Are you going to take this one with you here? Are you going to leave him in? You're going to call police? What do you do?
He called police. Police feared intervention would only incite the crowd even more.
Well, now, dad had to make a decision. He didn't have very much time to think. Mobs can turn at any moment. Police are afraid of this mob. So, he drove around the corner and parked his car, about a block or so away and left his -- I would imagine -- very frightened 12-year-old son inside still sitting in a baseball uniform. And then he goes to get his older son out of the house.
Now, here he is, they're surrounding his house. He's got to take out his key and go in the house. Mob, 500 people. He makes his way through the house. "Excuse me, excuse me, need to get in the house." He said, "I have a child in there who is alone and frightened. Let me pass." They just continued to yell and chant.
Can you see yourself in this situation? I hope to God you never do. He eventually got his son out of the house, got back into the car, he now had his two boys and they got the hell out of there.
Now, this guy must be a monster, right? Right? Had to be a monster. I mean, what would you do to get 500 mobsters surrounding your house like that? Well, as much as no one deserves this kind of treatment, you leave the families out of it. Here's the excuse: they were from the union. They're from SEIU and he works at a bank.
They claim to be angry because Baer is the deputy general counsel for corporate law at Bank of America. Yes. He's one of those evil bank executives. Greedy Bush crony, no doubt.
Oh, no. No, actually, he's a life-long Democrat who worked for the Clinton Treasury Department. Now, he's an evil banker. Get him, and the kids!
Why not just protest at the office? Do you have to bring it to somebody's front door? Yes, actually. Actually, if you're with SEIU, that's the way things are done now.
Watch.
(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)
ANDY STERN, SEIU PRESIDENT: We took names. We watched how they voted. We know where they live.
(END AUDIO CLIP)
BECK: Hmm. Intimidation. They can't get you one way, they'll get you another.
I'm sure some people at SEIU know exactly what I want to say now, but I won't. After the mob finally packed it in and left, they moved on to another CEO's house and then another one.
You see, SEIU was out on their intimidation tour and they were completely unapologetic, accusing a reporter who questioned the tactic of getting too emotional on the story. Oh, well, you wouldn't want to get an emotional with a 12 and 14-year-old that's frightened out of their mind. No, no, no.
It's a good thing that there weren't many reporters there to ask. In fact, I only -- I only found two. One was for "The Huffington Post" and wrote a glorious review of this. And the other one who was brave enough to say something, was at it "Forbes" reporter? "Fortune" reporter. That's it. "Fortune" magazine. That's it.
Nope, nobody around there to ask any questions. Nobody asks a question if it's morally reprehensible to do this or ethically even thinkable. No one to ask the question if anyone was in the house.
No one to ask the question about how the family feels today. How are you guys sleeping? How are the kids? How was your son's baseball game? It's forever lost now, isn't it? Your kid's never going to remember that game. The family is never going to remember the game.
They'll remember that game. But they'll only remember it this way. Oh, yes, that was the day -- ooh, that was the day everybody surrounded our house.
No one is asking any questions. Why would you surround the house of a life-long Democrat, a Clinton official? Did he do something? Or is just that he works for the bank?
No reporter is out questioning SEIU owing a ton of money to Bank of America. Is this -- is this intimidation tactic to try to get them to forgive your loans because you're collapsing on the inside, you need everybody to bail you out? Is that -- I mean, is that possible? Is this the same tactic that SEIU and ACORN used on the banks that forced them to make the risky loans that got us into the situation? Does it have anything to do with unionizing the tellers at the bank which you're all trying to do?
Oh, there's a million questions, but no reporters, no reporters. Nope, they're working on a movie script. "Wag the dog." They're not working on news or news stories anymore.
See, to get a news story, you have to ask real questions, you have to actually care. You have to care about the truth. You have to be brave enough to say it. You have to just show up. That's a good start.

The high point of his presidency came the day he took office. Since then, a majority of Americans has opposed virtually all his major policies and he has prevailed on several only because of large Democratic congressional advantages.
What started out as a whiff of rookie incompetence has become a suffocating odor. It's hard to find a single area where Obama's policies are a convincing success.

The government is about to strike the first blow against Ford:
Like other Rush listeners, I was surprised not to hear his voice on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday; and I did not recall him giving us any advance warning; nor did the host say what was going on. It appears that Rush married Kathryn Rogers, a blonde babe. It is Rush’s 4th marriage. Geusts at the wedding included Karl Rove, Sean Hannity, James Carville, Mary Matalin, Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, and Tom Watson. My invitation apparently got lost in the mail, another argument for a private company to hand our mail.
Jindal Blasts Obama's "Process"
RUSH: I just saw Bobby Jindal on TV. You've got to hear this. Late yesterday afternoon in New Orleans, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal held a press conference, and he is ticked off.
JINDAL: We didn't need another meeting. We didn't ask for another meeting. On Friday with the president, we were very clear: It's not the process that interests us; it's the outcomes. So many may ask, "Are you happy with the meeting? Are you happy with the process?" I could care less about the meeting; I could care less about the process. There were a lot of professors there. And I told them when I had a chance to speak at the end, I said, "To me this is not a multiple choice test. This is not an essay test. This is a pass-fail. This is a yes-no test. This is pretty simple: If we get approval to move forward on at least our first six segments, then this will have been a successful day. If we do not get approval to move forward, this will have been a waste of another day; we could have spent this day fighting the oil and doing other things to help safeguard our coast." So for us this wasn't about process.
RUSH: So Obama comes in and hosts meetings -- with professors! With professors! And Jindal has to go to the media and say, "We didn't need another meeting! We don't need no damn stinking meetings. We don't care about process," but that's all Obama is: A process guy. The "process" is supposed to show action: The best and the brightest, the professor, sitting around thinking about things to do. Meanwhile, Jindal wants to go out and build his sand berms. If you call 'em "sand traps," Obama will think there's a golf course going up and he may approve 'em.
RUSH: There were a lot of professors there. Yeah, there were a lot of professors there. Let me ask you a question here, folks. Say you are facing a bunch of thugs in a dark alley. Who do you want next to you, a bunch of professors? Bobby Jindal is in a dark alley. He's got a genuine emergency, and I'm sorry, professors are not what's called for in this emergency. You know, folks, it's a sad day. It's a sad thing. You know, given the nonstop, the nonstop stream of bad news, something good has to happen to this country. Things have gotten so testy, gotten so bad, so depressing with the press -- you know, I fully expect that idiot Gibbs, the White House press spokesman, to start announcing some random good news at the beginning of his briefings just to lighten things up, "The president's happy to report no train derailments today, every airliner landed on time, and no accidents, no books returned late at the El Segundo, California, public library." There's gotta be some good news they can report. (interruption) Misery index? There's no index capable of calculating the misery, Snerdley.
Jindal finds his voice in criticizing the cleanup:

Under the heading harlots, there are bunches of photos of starlets showing cleavage or wearing bikinis. This site appears to be deeply tongue-in-cheek.
The story on Helen Thomas:
Legendary White House reporter and founding member of the Muppets Helen Thomas made a heroic stand against the Zionists late last month, telling Jews to "get the hell out of Palestine" and to go home to "Poland and Germany."
Before the Jews sink their devilish claws into Helen, we want to show our solidarity by calling on all Jews to leave Zionist Occupied Hollywood by the end of June, or we shall begin "Operation Gevalt," which will disrupt all shipments of Nova lox to the west coast.
