Too much happened this week! Enjoy...

The cartoons mostly come from:

www.townhall.com/funnies.

If you receive this and you hate it and you don’t want to ever read it no matter what...that is fine; email me back and you will be deleted from my list (which is almost at the maximum anyway).

Previous issues are listed and can be accessed here:

http://kukis.org/page20.html (their contents are described and each issue is linked to) or here:

http://kukis.org/blog/ (this is the online directory they are in)

I attempt to post a new issue each Sunday by 5 or 6 pm central standard time (I sometimes fail at this attempt).

I try to include factual material only, along with my opinions (it should be clear which is which). I make an attempt to include as much of this week’s news as I possibly can. The first set of columns are intentionally designed for a quick read.

I do not accept any advertising nor do I charge for this publication. I write this principally to blow off steam in a nation where its people seemed have collectively lost their minds.

And if you are a believer in Jesus Christ, always remember: We do not struggle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Eph. 6:12).

This Week’s Events

Iranians capture a drone; President Obama declines any move to destroy it, as this may be seen as an aggressive war action.

blogoseat.jpg

Former Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich was sentenced to 14 years in prison after a second trial.

Boeing in Washington State came to an agreement with their workers; and the NLRB suddenly dropped their suit against Boeing, which will allow them to build a second plant in South Carolina.

Moderate Republican Sen. Susan Collins blasted the Defense Department for classifying the Fort Hood massacre as workplace violence. She referenced a letter from the defense department that so classified this act of Islamic terrorism as workplace violence.

Democratic Congressman Rick Larsen has fired three staff members who chronicled their on-the-job drinking exploits on Twitter. My guess is, he fired them for their abject stupidity.

Virginian atheists erect a skeleton in a Santa suit, hanging on a cross in front of the Loudoun County Courthouse. Vandals dismantled it fairly quickly.

Wisconsin militant atheist group comes down to a Texas town to demand that a Nativity scene be removed. Here is the shocker—nobody here shot them.

President Obama’s dream car, the Chevy Volt, has burst into flames on several occasions, and it appears as though there has been a suppression of such battery fires for the past 6 months. Do you really want the government in the auto business?

President Obama's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) outlined an "environmental justice strategy" that would review how a variety of DHS activities, from interaction with local governments to granting regulatory permits, affect poor and minority populations. DHS defines environmental justice as "the commitment of the Federal Government . . . to avoid placing disproportionately high and adverse effects on the human health and environment of minority populations and low-income populations." Efforts to implement environmental justice will influence "our own operations, financial assistance to state and local governments, and [DHS'] regulatory permitting activities," DHS explained in the draft strategy.

Obama’s Kansas speech this week, where he used the words fair or fairness 15 times, was rated 3 Pinocchio’s by the Washington Post, normally a very liberal paper (3 Pinocchio’s translates to Significant factual error and/or obvious contradictions).

It has come out that petitions to put candidate Obama on the ballot in Indiana in 2008 were forged.

Liberal author Bob Woodward confessed last week that Al Gore told him the American public knows just "one percent" of what went on during Bill Clinton's presidency.

Republicans on a private Republican National Committee conference call with allies warned Tuesday that party surrogates should refrain from personal attacks against President Barack Obama, because such a strategy is too hazardous for the GOP.

It has come out that Governor Mitt Romney spent nearly $100,000 in state funds to replace computers in his office at the end of his term as governor of Massachusetts in 2007 as part of an effort to keep his records secret.

Principal Rob Benzie at Ansford Academy in England reportedly turned off the heat amid nearly freezing temperatures to show how the school could reduce its carbon footprint. He received quite a number of complaints, including a staff member who called this idea "beyond stupid."

Occupy Portland members were invited to an afternoon teach-in by a sixth-grade teacher at Astor School were asked to leave the building by administrators just 20 minutes into their presentation.

The Occupy movement is now moving toward occupying vacant homes and occupying student loans. I certainly understand how the former can be done, but not the latter. In any case, one conservative fool on FoxNews actually said that their occupying a home would be good for the home, suggesting that they would fix it up to make it nice. They’ll make it nice like all the other places that they have occupied.

egypt.jpg

Charlotte, NC is working on passing an ordinance that would make occupying downtown spaces with tents a "public nuisance," in addition to banning "noxious substances," padlocks, and other camping equipment. They need this up and running before the Democratic National Convention descends on Charlotte. So, many Democrats have given props to the occupy movement, but there is not reason for them to come to the DNC.

Houston Democrats hold their holiday party at Planned Parenthood, claiming it was a "convenient meeting location."

Tens of thousands of protestors are in the streets of Russian protesting the most recent election results, claiming that they were fixed.

North Korea warns South Korea not to have Christmas lights near the border. North Korea calls the plan to put Christmas lights on a steel tower "a mean attempt for psychological warfare." South Korea has a huge Christian population.

United Nations climate envoys have proposed the creation of a global "climate court" that would be responsible for enforcing a sprawling set of rules requiring developed countries to cut emissions while compensating poorer countries in order to pay off a "historical climate debt." Now, is it just me, or does this sound like the means of transferring wealth from the rich to the poor?

Alleged Terrorist, Faruq Khalil Muhammad `Isa, has been indicted in New York for the murder of five American soldiers. This was apparently on the battlefield? We are now arresting our battlefield enemies and trying them in court?

37 House legislators from both sides of the aisle signed a letter to President Obama requesting that he intercede on behalf of persecuted Iraq Christians and other religious minorities in his upcoming meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards have been put on a war footing as explosions rock various nuclear sites.

An unnamed sheikh, who was featured in an article on el-Senousa news, said that if women wish to eat cucumbers or bananas, then a third party, preferably a male related to them, should cut the items into small pieces and serve. I know; you want to think that this is just a joke.

In a bizarre tale, a Saudi man divorced his wife without letting her know, yet continued to have sex with her. The woman had no inkling they were no longer man and wife. Now this woman has demanded that her ex-husband receive the strictest punishment—being stoned to death—under sharia law, for committing adultery with her.

Saudi authorities recently seized a large quantity of imported shirts and other clothes adorned with the cross.

Say What?

Liberals:

First lady Michelle Obama to her husband: "You had BBQ? You didn't tell me you had BBQ."

obamawreck.jpg

President Obama on 60 Minutes tonite: “I'm not in the job of prognosticating on the economy. I'm in the job of putting in place the tools that allow the economy to thrive and Americans to succeed. Sometimes when I'm talking to my team, I - describe us . . . as . . . I'm the captain and they're the crew on a ship, going through really bad storms. And no matter how well we're steering the ship, if the boat's rocking back and forth and people are getting sick and . . . they're being buffeted by the winds and the rain and . . . at a certain point - if you're asking, "Are you enjoying the ride right now?" Folks are going to say, "No." And are they going to say, "Do you think the captain's good - doing a good job?" People are going say, "You know what? A good captain would have had us in some smooth waters and sunny skies, at this point." And I don't control the weather.”

Jake Elwood (played by John Belushi): “I ran out of gas. I had a flat tire. I didn’t have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn’t come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town...there was an earthquake, a terrible flood, IT WASN’T MY FAULT!”

President Obama: “Too many children can no longer expect to join the middle class, the president said, no matter if they work hard and play by the rules.” It is difficult to determine if these are his exact words. They are attributed to him, but without quotes. However, what this means is, what he has done so far for Americans has not worked.

President Barack Obama: “But I have a different vision.”

President Obama [file this under, it’s still Bush’s fault]: "The reason they still support me is because they understand what an incredible mess had been made as I was coming into office and we've been spending the last three years cleaning it up. The good news is that the economy is starting to strengthen. We've seen some positive signs. The unemployment rate has ticked down."

President Obama: "Layoffs too often became permanent, not part of the business cycle. And these changes didn't just affect blue collar workers. If you were a bank teller or a phone operator or a travel agent, you saw many in your profession replaced by ATMs and the internet,"

President Obama on Supply-side economics: "It's a simple theory - one that speaks to our rugged individualism and healthy skepticism of too much government. It fits well on a bumper sticker. Here's the problem: It doesn't work. It's never worked." Apparently the president was still living in Kenya during the 1980's and 90's and 2000's?

President Obama: "I would not ask anybody to do something that I'm not willing to do myself. I

obamaocc.jpg

know that some of you might have been looking forward to some sun and sand. But the bottom line is that we are going to stay here as long as it takes to make sure that the American people's taxes do not go up on January 1st."

President Obama, making another don’t call this a fund-raiser speech: "Congress can't end the year by taking money out of the pockets of working Americans. Now is not the time for playing politics. Now is the time to do what's right for the American people."

obamafundraising.jpg

Department of Justice Attorney General Eric Holder: "We don't hire people on the basis of political or ideological affiliations.”

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi: "It's not about what the American people are thinking; they support a payroll tax cut, whether they're Democrats or Republicans or Independents," she added. "It's about the extremism of the Republicans in the House of Representatives that remains the obstacle to this tax cut."

Nancy Pelosi: "I think the [Occupy movement] protesters have made a very strong statement: The status quo is unacceptable. I agree with that."

Pelosi: “As families gather around their kitchen table deciding what they can afford, uh, uh, Christmas toys for their child—uh, holiday toys for their children, or Christmas presents for their family.”

Pelosi on Obama's Kansas speech: "it was a tour de force about who we are as a country in a non-partisan way."

Pelosi: "I think that we must - we must - pass the unemployment insurance. I do not think it should be paid for because it is, again, it is something that people, that is paid into and now we should, for many reasons, not pay for it."

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi: "One of these days we'll have a conversation about Newt Gingrich. I know a lot about him. I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff." what she did not say much about is, she is not allowed to reveal any stuff which was not already made public; nor did she talk about the end result of this ethics probe.

fastfurious.jpg

Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid on why a vote on a jobs bill was put off: "We're not going to do that at midnight tonight. We're going to have the votes when you folks can write about it during a decent news cycle."

Former House Minority Leader Steny Hoyer: “[passing unemployment insurance will allow the jobless] to continue participating in growing the economy and creating jobs...I believe that the Republicans don't want to leave here without passing UI. That would be coal in the stockings of the American people. Not just [for] those who don't have a job, but all of those who would be hurt by the additional burden that people who run out of unemployment would be in terms of food stamps, welfare payments, TANF [Temporary Assistance for Needy Families], and failure to help boost the economy."

fafholder.jpg

DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz: "Newt Gingrich was a Tea Party politician even before there was a Tea Party - he supported gutting funding for education and Medicare to fund a tax cut for millionaires and shut down the government over it and those are the same policies he supports today."

Texan Representative Sheila Jackson Lee: “We saw what happened when Iran took hostages in 1979. A president lost his re-election. The prestige of the United States was challenged. I am not going to be taken hostage again to extend the Bush tax cuts when every economist says that it's absolutely absurd forever and points to the fact that no jobs are necessarily created by extending the Bush tax cuts, at least on the top one percent of Americans, and when the opt one percent population polled have said that they have no problem with losing that ludicrous benefit forever and ever.”

Georgia Democratic Rep. Hank Johnson on Operation Fast and Furious: "I think this is another manufactured controversy by the second amendment, NRA Republican tea party movement." Operation Fast&Furious took 2000 guns over the border into Mexico, which guns have killed 1 American and more than 150 Mexican citizens.

Attorney General Eric Holder: "I have no intention of resigning. I'm the attorney general who put an end to the tactics of Fast and Furious."

Eric Holder on whether or not he had lied in his letter to Congress: "Well, if you want to have this legal conversation, it all has to do with your state of mind and whether or not you had the requisite intent to come up with something that would be considered perjury or a lie."

Planned parenthood blog post: "Gingrich may have a reputation for "big ideas," but his record on women's health can best be characterized as backward and wrong. With his rapid rise in the polls, he's catching our attention too-as a Featured Chump."

Occupy Washington dude: "If this is the revolution, this is our Valley Forge."

mikemoore.jpg

Liberal commentator Alexis McGill Johnson: “Occupy is just getting started.”

Domestic terrorist Bill Ayers: “And Occupy has already won, that is, the movement has changed the frame, redefined the discussion, and introduced a range of new ideas into the public square, for example: We are the 99%! Like every other movement in history, it was "impossible" the day before it burst onto the scene, and yet it seemed suddenly "inevitable" the day after.”

Occupy SF participant’s ad on Craig’s list: "I want a roommate to help set up a new camp and watch my back in case the NAzis with the GERMAN dog come back to kick me out. I also have a video camera we can share in case they harrass us.”

An Iowa State University lecturer Thomas Walker in a letter to the editor: "Why do Republicans care so much about the military? Because the military-industrial complex is dear to their simplistic laissez-faire fantasies: a bottom-line patriotism that excludes the people at the bottom."

MSNBC's Michael Eric Dyson responding to Newt Gingrich call for poor children to be trained in unskilled labor so they learn a work ethic: "Well, first of all, those hustlers are working extremely hard. They may be unemployed, but they're working to be sure."

Lily the Muppet, at the National Press Club: "Sometimes we can't always afford to buy all the food that we need. I mean, but we've been finding lots of ways that we can get help. . . Yeah, for example, at school I get a free breakfast and a lunch . . . part of the meal plan."

The EPA defines environmental justice as "the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people, regardless of race or income, in the environmental decision-making process."

Michael Moore: “I think is great about this is that by having ten million leaders and ten million spokespeople in every PTA, in every church, in every neighborhood, that's how this movement's grown so fast. It's only twelve weeks old. It already has the support of the majority of Americans who say they agree with the principles of the Occupy Wall Street movement.”

Snoop Dogg: "They legalized alcohol, they legalized tobacco. What is it going to hurt to legalize this medicinal medical marijuana that's used for purposes of (things like) cataracts?"

The Secular Coalition for America: "We want to have a wave of godless voters flood the halls of every congressional building to show all of America that secular and nontheistic Americans are here, that we expect our elected officials to represent our issues, and that we care about our country just as much as any American...[these efforts are necessary because] secular Americans often hide their nontheistic viewpoints and ideologies because they fear persecution."

The Compliant Obama Press Corps:

Former White House correspondent, now NY Times columnist Frank Bruni:"The candidates who surged before [Gingrich] are to varying degrees yahoos. They proved it anew last week. Michele Bachmann seemed to be under the impression that we had an embassy in Iran, and Rick Perry was definitely under the delusion that the voting age in this country is 21 instead of 18."

Frank Bruni, a month ago, on Herman Cain: "Let us pause here to make a necessarily severe assessment: to say that Herman Cain has an imperfect grasp of policy would be unfair not only to George W. Bush in 1999 but also to Britney Spears in 1999. Herman Cain seems like someone who, quite frankly, has never opened a newspaper."

Time Magazine’s Ezra Klein: “...you could argue that the United States's debt burden is the product of an insufficiently large welfare state - at least with regard to health care.”

ABC's Christiane Amanpour question for Republican candidate Jon Huntsman: “People are trying to figure out how you're going to really break out -- because you are at the bottom of the pack -- despite the fact that some independents, for instance, in New Hampshire call you the sanest one running. Our George Will has said that you deserve a "searching second look" from conservatives. Ross Douthat of the New York Times calls you the most electable conservative remaining in the race. And yet, as I say, what you're offering does not seem to be resonating. It appears that the Newt Gingrich [holds up her fists], sort of bombast and brash in your face against Obama, is what's resonating.”

Amanpour “All right, let me ask you about where this campaign is going. I read to you a few comments from people before, including one who called you the sanest one still running. But it appears that you are reversing some of your own eminently sensible positions. For instance, on climate change you in August, tweeted that, "to be clear, I believe in evolution and I trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy." You've been tweeting about the sort of rightward swing, you've been jabbing at the base. And yet, in the last week, you sort of rolled that bit back on climate change. You sort of said that there isn't enough science. I mean, what are you doing?”

Jake Tapper, who is usually a credible newsman despite his left-wing bias: "...But will Republican voters pick a nominee who can beat him? It's the latest sign [that] Mitt Romney is Elmer Fudd to Newt Gingrich's Bugs Bunny and it's wabbit season."

MSNBC host Chuck Todd: "Is this the single best week in the Obama re-election effort?"

MSNBC’s Lawrence O'Donnell: “Now Newt is that survivor of the who-else-you-got thing and it's - they simply are prepared and they're a predominantly Christian group these voters. Their Christian religion guides them to forgiveness. Christianity was invented for forgiveness. Religions weren't great at forgiveness before Christianity, and we came to the point that we realized, `Hey, everyone's going to go to Hell if they can't be forgiven at some point here, and so Christianity came along and said you can be forgiven. So everything Newt is being forgiven for by these voters is a violation of one of the Ten Commandments. They simply cannot bring themselves to forgive an individual mandate in health care. That is not in the Ten Commandments. There is no provision in Christian forgiveness for enacting an individual mandate for health care in Massachusetts, and so Mitt Romney is condemned by these voters to his 25 percent.”

bet.jpg

MSNBC weekend host Chris Hayes: "I think every day that we take less oil out of the planet Earth is a win."

MSNBC's Chris Matthews: "How did the party of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt and General Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan descend into a diabolic clown show? When did P.T. Barnum grab hold of the Tea Party and New York money and mix it into this witch's brew of a TV Debate headed by Donald Trump? How did this clown show of Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich find itself with the `Sorcerer's Apprentice' as its grand ringmaster? How did the King of the Birthers become the midwife of right-wing presidential politics? And what sin did someone commit to unleash this torrent from hell on a once-serious political party?”

MSNBC job application: "Must have thorough knowledge of political and progressive news."

ABC stumbles upon the defining issue of 2012.

ABC’s Jake Tapper: “One thing I wanted to settle is that $10,000 bet that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney tried to wager with Rick Perry. Rick Perry said, "I read your first book, and it said in there that your mandate in Massachusetts should be the model for the country." Romney disputed that and offered to bet him $10,000. We do think actually that Governor Perry was not quoting exactly what Romney had said. What he actually had written that was removed from later editions of the book is we can accomplish the same thing for everyone in the country. But the big issue, I think, is the fact that Mitt Romney was trying to wager a $10,000 bet in a debate in Iowa. The median income in this country means that $10,000 is roughly three months income. And even though he was just joking around, I think that that probably did not help him. And even if he'd won the letter of the bet, by making the bet, as Matthew Dowd pointed out earlier, he probably lost the (INAUDIBLE).”

George Stephanopoulos: “David Muir, what is the Romney camp saying about that?”

David Muir: “Well, it's funny that you ask that, George. I've already sent out emails to many of our contacts with the Romney campaign. ... (INAUDIBLE) ... But it's interesting we're talking about the $10,000 bet. A columnist for the Des Moines Register has already penned a column saying not too many caucus goers here in Iowa would ever place a $10,000 bet, even if it was a sure thing. So when we ask Americans a couple of days from now, they likely won't even remember, what issue this was about, but they will remember the $10,000 figure.”

Amy Walter, ABC news political director: “This was supposed to be a debate where Newt Gingrich was the one under the line of fire, but, instead, it really was Mitt Romney who made most of the headlines, and not all of them were very good. Obviously, the $10,000 bet being the top one here.”

Liberals from the past:

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews: "No matter who you are. You can be Mitt Romney [Newt - ed] with three marriages and a disastrous speakership, kicked out of the speakership, being reprimanded by the House of Representatives and fined and all that stuff, it doesn't matter if you sing the right tune, with the right tone these days. Is that what's going on? In other words, they're just as guilty of what we have been accused of in the past on the progressive side, of being - of swooning over good rhetoric."

scottwalker.jpg

Liberal civility:

Chris Matthews on Newt Gingrich: "Why does a guy with a diabolic grin - and I'm being completely objective here - a guy who doesn't look like a presidential candidate, looks too nasty for one, why is the nasty guy doing the best of all the candidates right now? The one who is so obviously nasty?. . . They want somebody who looks nasty like Jack Palance from Shane . . . some nasty guy that the dogs walk away when they see him. You know what I'm talking about?"

Crazy Muslims:

Islamic Preacher Mustafa al-Adawi: "A woman can only wear high heels for her husband but she is not to do so outside her house."

Sheikh Mahmoud Amer issues a fatwa prohibiting Muslims from voting for Coptic candidates or their Muslim counterparts who do not pray on regular basis: "It is forbidden by Islam to vote for them and whoever does that will be committing a grave sin."

A Preacher on a Gaza Friday sermon on Hamas Al-Aqsa TV: “Our banner is "There is no god but Allah," our slogan is "Allah Akbar," our mantle is "Death to the Jews and to America."

The Prophet said: "Judgment Day will not come until you fight the Jews - you to the east of the river, and they to its west. Then the stones and the trees will say: Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him." Egyptian Child Preacher Assem Al-Askari: “we must thwart the civil strife which the jews and Americans are constantly plotting and elect a just ruler.” “

Top Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat said the Gingrich remark was "the most racist statement I've ever seen...[this is] how really despicable things can get"

Liberals making sense:

Congressman Joe Manchin, about a bill that would extend the Social Security tax cut for another year: "Why would we do this? Why would we double down on a policy that didn't work?"

Joe Manchin, of Congress’s approval rating: "We are at 9 percent approval rating and we are rapidly losing the support of even our family members."

obamarepub.jpg

Newsman Bob Shieffer: “You have to go all the way back to Jimmy Carter to find a president whose approval rating was this low at this point in his presidency, but this goes beyond that....what really jumps out in this poll is that 75% of the people now believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction and, kinda worse, as far as I’m concerned, 66% say they have no clear idea right now what the president wants to accomplish if he is reelected.”

Michael Moore: "Wall Street has their man and his name is Barack Obama."

Moderates/Affiliation Unknown:

So-called conservative New York Times columnist David Brooks: "I agree with Mark the Republican Party has gone very far right, but if they singing the hymnal of FOX News, why do you sing to the hymnal of MSNBC? Why don't you do something more centrist?"

Crosstalk:

This is a video in a video; the comments come from successive shows at different times:

Bill O'Reilly [n his show]: “Our pal Jon Stewart is following the various Christmas controversies very closely. Now, there is no question that Mr. Stewart is going to hell.”

Jon Stewart [on his show]: “I know. But here's what you and your minions don't understand, O'Reilly. Your hell doesn't scare me. I make my living watching FOX News eight hours a day. I'm already in hell! Boom! Boom! Your move, O'Reilly.”

O'Reilly: “My move, Stewart? All right, here's my move. How can you watch eight hours of FOX News every day and still be a pinhead?”

Anchor: “[On a] scale of one to ten,...what's your frustration level [with Republicans].”

Obama: “It's off the scale. When you think about the challenges we face as a country, most of these challenges are solvable pretty quickly.”

A man from the audience: "I have never heard one Muslim condemn Islamic jihad or terrorism. I see Islamic jihad as one of the greatest threats to America and the western world. Are you going to continue to give Islam and Islamic jihad in this country a pass like everybody before you continues to do? The only people that call Islam a religion of peace are the Muslims, and they are the most violent religion in the world."

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney: "...they take a very different view of Islam than the Muslims I know...They are peace-loving and America-loving individuals. I believe that very sincerely. I believe people of the Islamic faith do not have to subscribe to the idea of radical, violent jihadism."

The Daily Caller: “Hi, I wanted to get your thoughts on Operation Fast & Furious and whether you thought that was a legitimate reason for, maybe, Eric Holder to step down?”

New York Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez: “Um, I—“

Daily Caller: “You’re not familiar with it?”

Velazquez: “No, no.”

fafkill.gif

Daily Caller: “Okay.”

CNN’s Candy Crowley: “Let me try to button this up just by saying a couple things. First, I know the President has in fact imposed some tougher sanctions and has in fact said nothing is off the table when it comes to Iran and its nuclear capabilities, but I have to.”

Rick Santorum: “Candy, hold on. Hold on. Stop, Candy. That's just not true. Ask Robert Menendez and ask all the folks in the United States Senate who want to impose the real sanction that will make a difference on Iran and the President has opposed it. Now that's just a fact. He also has recognized the state of Syria, called Assad a reformer, has continued to have an embassy there when in fact this is a real thug that is a real threat to the state of Israel and to the stability of the region. And again here's the interesting link. It is a client state of Iran. The greatest area he's appeased is Iran which is the greatest threat, and here he is recognizing Assad, setting up an ambassadorship with a client state of Iran who is a great funder of Hezbollah, a threat to Israel and the region. You go to Egypt. Again, he supported the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafists as it turns out into overthrowing an ally in Egypt. There is a consistent pattern of contingencies that have come up under this administration where he has opposed the freedom fighters and has gone with the radical Islamists. That is a problem for the security of Israel and our country.”

Representative Daniel Lungren (R-CA): Secretary Stockton, are we at war with violent Islamist extremism?

Mr. Stockton, Assistant Defense Secretary for Homeland Defense: No, sir. We are at war with al-Qaida, its affiliates -

Lungren: OK, I understand that. My question is, is violent Islamist extremism at war with us?

Stockton: No, sir. We are being attacked by al-Qaida and its allies.

Lungren: Is al-Qaida - can it be described as being an exponent of violent Islamist extremism?

Stockton: They - al-Qaida are murderers with an ideological agenda -

Lungren: No, I - that's not my question. That wasn't my question. My question was, is al-Qaida acting out violent Islamist extremism?

Stockton: Al-Qaida is a violent organization dedicated to overthrowing the values that we intend to advance -

Lungren: So is it yes or no?

Stockton: Can I hear the question again? I'll make it as clear as I can. We are not at war with Islam. And it is not -

Lungren: I didn't ask that - I did not ask that, sir. I asked whether we're at war with violent Islamist extremism. That's my question.

Stockton: No, we're at war with al-Qaida and its affiliates.

Lungren: Well, al-Qaida - how does al-Qaida define itself? Are they dedicated to violent Islamist extremism?

Stockton: Al-Qaida would love to convince Muslims around the world that the United States is at war with Islam.

Lungren: I didn't say that.

Stockton: That's a prime propaganda tool.

Lungren: Sir -

Stockton: And I'm not going to aid and abet that effort to advance their propaganda goal.

Lungren: No, no, my question is, is there a difference between Islam and violent Islamist extremism?

Mr. stockton: Sir, with great respect, I don't believe it's helpful to frame our adversary as Islamic with any set of qualifiers that we might add, because we are not at war with Islam.

Rep. Lungren: I understand that. I never said we were at war with Islam. One of the questions we're trying to deal with is the radicalization of Islam, is the radicalization of Islamic youth. And if we can't distinguish between violent Islamist extremism and Islam, then all this stuff about behavioral indicators doesn't mean anything.

County Commissioner Joe Hall of Athens, TX, when a atheist group from Wisconsin comes to town demanding that he take down the nativity scene: "We'll remove it when hell freezes over. It's not going to happen."

Retired Army colonel Rep. Allen West, about being attacked by the liberal press: "You know, we have a saying in the military: You don't receive flak unless you're over the target."

Congressman Allen West from his FB page: “Obviously President Barack Hussein Obama believes in a "guarantee of happiness" and that he, along with his liberal disciples, are the arbiters of fairness. America is about equal opportunity, not the liberal progressive mantra of equal achievement. Nice try Mr. President but teleprompters and poll tested messages do not equal visionary leadership. Sorry. I know, that ain't fair!”

Newt Gingrich: "Remember, there was no Palestine as a state. It was part of the Ottoman Empire. And I think that we've had an invented Palestinian people, who are in fact Arabs, who are historically part of the Arab community.” Let me add to this that, the original Palestinians, called Philistines, were mostly or all Greek (we don’t know exactly; but there is no straight line that can be drawn between the original Philistines and the Palestinians today.

It's as if it didn't exist. It's as if we jumped from '08 to today. This speech was intended to say that "Everything that's happened in the last three years has nothing to do with my administration or its policies - economic stagnation, debt, high unemployment. It is a result of the malice of the

rich," and he talked about that at length. This is a classic example of how little it takes to stir the erogenous zones of liberals. You give them a speech with social justice, a little bit of class war, you wrap it up in the patina of intellectualism in what is essentially a speech that exonerates anything he's done and obviously not done and says all of our problems today are the result of the plutocrats. That's why he's more a Hugo Chavez than he is a Teddy Roosevelt in this speech.”

Conservatives from the Past:

Crossroads ad from earlier this year; a female voice: “Sometimes it's hard to sleep. I'm worried I guess about our jobs, our home, how everything costs more, even mom's health care. How will we ever retire? Lately I worry a lot about my kids. What's their future going to be like? I supported President Obama because he spoke so beautifully, but since then things have gone from bad to much worse. He said spending hundreds of billions on a stimulus would create more jobs, but now all we've got is a lot more debt and more people out of work. Instead of fixing health care, my mom's Medicare will be cut, and our health insurance premiums went up. Our country's got this huge debt, and Obama says raise taxes and keep spending more? Doesn't Washington know we can't afford more taxes and debt? If they don't figure it out, it's going to be even tougher for our kids. There's got to be a way to take away President Obama's blank check.”

Conservatives not making any sense:

Glenn Beck: "If you have a big government progressive, or a big government progressive in Obama. ask yourself this, Tea Party: is it about Obama's race? Because that's what it appears to be to me. If you're against him but you're for this guy, it must be about race. I mean, what else is it? It's the policies that matter."

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul: "Just think of what happened after 9/11. Immediately before there was any assessment there was glee in the administration because now we can invade Iraq."

Bernie Goldberg: “The media played fair with Herman Cain; it was a legitimate story.” Yes, they treated this nothing like they treated the John Edwards or Bill Clinton scandals.

Big Picture

This is a new heading, and I hope to look, on occasion, to institutions and how they have been affected by the struggle between liberals and conservatives:

Education: Money has been poured into education like never before. In some states, teachers are very well paid, with great medial and retirement; administrators even more so. That is what liberals have been telling us for years—pay our teachers better and we will get better teachers. Not only has prayer been taken out of the classroom, but Christmas pageants, reference to Jesus Christ in many songs, and even individual valedictorians and football players are warned not to say anything about God or Jesus Christ when addressing their peers. This is also a liberal tenet.

Sex education, birth control, and even access to abortion clinics apart from parental notification, in some places, is available. All liberal tenets.

Exposure of children to alternate sexual lifestyles; Betty has 2 daddies, etc. is found in some lower elementary grades. Also, the teaching that there are 3 types of equally valid intercourse is being taught in many schools as well, as low as in elementary school. All liberal tenets.

Most schools are experiencing a lot of top-down pressure. That is, both the state and federal government are beginning to impose more restrictions, requirements and regulations upon the public schools. All liberal tenets.

Are schools better or worse? Do you like the 21st century public school more than you like the schools of the 1950's and early 1960's?

The only bright spot in all of this is, there are more and more alterative schools (private schools, home schooling, etc.), and these are all having a positive impact on education. New Orleans and Louisiana in general has been one of the areas where alternatives to public education are being explored.

A Little Comedy Relief

Jodi Miller: “As a part of his reelection campaign, President Obama is asking for one more term to ‘finish the job.’ Year, there are still 250 million Americans who aren’t on food stamps yet.”

Short Takes

1)  A conservative candidate needs to say, “American cannot solve its economic problems by giving millions of dollar to Obama supporter, donors and bundlers.”

2) We need to know what happened in Operation Fast and Furious . Who had the idea of Fast and Furious? Who ran the program? Who approved it? What were its goals? There has to be 3 or 4 levels of DOJ authority involved here, at the very least; and there has to be a paper trail indicating what the program was.

holder.jpg

3) Did you know that, when Attorney General Eric Holder was questioned, not one person asked him, “Who is responsible for this program, Fast and Furious? Who initiated it? Who approved it? Why have you not released any documents indicating its origin, purpose and chain of command approval?”

4) There are foreign workers needed for current job openings in the United States. We need to open up legitimate means to get highly qualified foreign workers into the United States. This will increase employment and job opportunities as well.

5) I would not be shocked if Jon Corzine turns out to be an evil crook. He is the former governor of New Jersey, closely associated with the stimulus bill, and the CEO of MF Global, which just went bankrupt. He has been called to capitol hill to answer questions, because about $1 billion of

mfmoney.jpg

investor money is missing. However, we need to look at the audit that was done prior to his taking over the company; we need to know how he was suddenly made CEO of this company and why; and we need an independent of MF Global right now. For all we know, he could have been hired as the CEO as their fall guy, as he seems to maintain. The key to all of this is the auditing which has been done and should be done at this time. He does claim that some executive told him that there were problems with the books. Who was that executive and what did Corzine do about it? As CEO, he was supposed to represent the investors of that company, since it was a publically traded company.

6) Although I doubt that Mitt Romney will become the Republican candidate, if his immigration stance becomes well-known, he will lose in a general election. Romney wants to send back each and every illegal to their country of origin and have them apply for citizenship from there. That may sound like a great plan to some in the Republican party, but it is never going to happen.

7) My favorite in the last presidential election was former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani. When Sean Hannity interviewed him, I was worried that he would come in as a Romney supporter. However, I was pleasantly surprised the Giuliani discussed Romney objectively without strongly supporting him or knocking him.

8) Here is what Obama has to convince the American people: “I know your life sucks, but it does not suck because of me. It sucks because of the Republican policies of the past and the 1% today, who do not pay their fair share in taxes. If I can take more of their money, then you will be able to advance in life and truly expect to get into the middle class.”

Over 8 years, Reagan increased spending by $0.4 trillion per year.

Obama, so far, has increased the debt by $1.4 trillion per year

The average U.S. household lost $21,261 of net worth over the summer months, according to the latest quarterly report by the Fed. Of course none of this should come as news to President Barack Obama, who during an exchange with ABC's George Stephanopoulos in October said that Americans are not better off than they were before he moved into the White House.

Nearly 40% of Republican voters in Iowa say they get most of their news from the network and its many conservative hosts.

Nearly half of the Fox News watchers said they would vote for Mr. Gingrich if the state's Republican presidential caucus were held today. 12% of the regular Fox watchers said that Mr. Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, is their choice to be the Republican standard-bearer.

CBS Poll:

41% say Obama's job performance is good enough to deserve second term,

54% think he doesn't

Weasel Zippers:

In a non-scientific poll, New Gingrich now has 62% of all the vote.

A Little Bias

During the ABC Republican candidate debate last night, Mitt Romney offered to make a $10,000 bet with Rick Perry. At a time when we just hit a $15 trillion debt mark, with no end in sight, the ABC team obsessed about this $10,000 figure, pointing out that most people could not make a bet of this size. They completely ignored the two dozen times that I, around age 10, bet several people a million dollars about this or that.

Tax cuts = the temporary/permanent removal of FICA taxes paid to fund Social Security from lower and middle income Americans. Removal of huge SS funding stream.

Questions for Obama

Can you explain exactly what is fair, in your opinion? How much should a middle class person pay toward his Social Security retirement and how much should he pay in federal taxes? What is the fair amount for a poor person to pay in FICA taxes and in federal taxes? What is the ideal percentage for a rich person to pay in FICA taxes and for federal taxes? Will these amounts fund Social Security enough?

Political Chess

Obama can never simply say what he believes in, with regards to the economic system. He got close when he said that “supply-side economics” (trickle-down economics); but he can never lay out exactly what he envisions for this country. Conservatives can. Conservatives can define the tax rate, the freedoms, the ability to go as far as your abilities will take you; but the President cannot say, “Look, the government knows better. If we take about half of your taxes and carefully direct the economy, everything will be great. If we take money from the very wealthy and spread it around, that is the key to the success of America.” He has to suppress any desire to communicate this, even though it is what he believes. So, he does everything possible to seize control of car companies, of all the banks, of the mortgage industry, of the student loan industry, and of the medical sector, all the while talking about free enterprise and the founding principles of our country.

Republicans pulled somewhat of an upset this week in the political chess realm. President Obama was going to shelve the Keystone XL pipeline until after 2013, ordering that the most studied pipeline ever be studied some more. So, Republicans added this to legislation to exempt those in the middle class from paying into social

security for another year. The Keystone Pipeline is going to add jobs to our economy; the tax break will not. However, that sets up the president and other Democrats being required to vote for something that actually improves the economy. Oh, one more thing. The republicans have inserted a clause which requires states to crack down on the use of welfare funds in liquor stores, casinos and strip clubs.

Economic Collapse; and no one is arrested

60 Minutes, as usual, had a very nearly excellent program last week on the economic collapse, and they were all upset because no one has been arrested; no particular person appears to be under investigation. They have a good reason to be upset, but they seemed, at least in this report, to be clueless as to why.

What happened at the end of 2008 changed history and the direction of the United States. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson goes to President George Bush and tells him, “The United States is about to collapse. We need TARP.”

Then 10 huge banking conglomerates are called in and they are told that they are going to take a huge, temporary loan, and no one is to talk much about it. If a bank is in good shape, they take the money; if a bank is ready to collapse, they take the money. The explanation, which seemed reasonable, was, we do not want the public to know which banks are solvent and which ones are not.

Then our economy very nearly collapsed. The Dow Jones dropped 778 points on at the end of September, 2008, right after Congress refused to pass the TARP legislation. This was the greatest net loss in Stock Market history, when $1.2 trillion of wealth was lost in one day.

TARP was immediately passed; money was left on the table for the next administration, and the momentum for Republican candidates McCain and Palin stopped and they began to lose ground. The Democrats capitalized on this, blaming the Republicans, and Obama and the Democrats took over the Presidency, with strong majorities in the Senate and the House.

If you will recall the Obama campaigned, you heard President Bush and his economic policies being blamed, over and over again, for the market crash. TARP was not strongly questioned, but it was clearly Bush’s fault, at least, according to Obama and the media.

Democrats successfully blamed the banks and Wall Street, and said it was all their fault for the market crash.

So, here it is, 3 years later, after 2 years of super-majorities by Democrats in Congress, and, for some reason, these evil bankers and evil Wall Street types are not being pursued. In fact, it turns out that Wall Street is giving far more money to Democrats than to Republicans. Furthermore, it was Wall Street that got bailed out. Those evil bankers and financial types that the media told us were at fault.

So, what gives?

That is what 60 Minutes asks. Who is going to be investigated? Who is going to be arrested? Department of Justice seemed to have no answers for them. Furthermore, 60 Minutes seemed to have no real idea. There were no questions about the key connection here: the relationship between the government, Wall Street and the large banks. That is the unholy alliance. I’m not talking about Democrats versus Republicans here; I am talking about government.

What has been happening as of late? It turns out that many members of Congress were making money on the stock market, no matter that we are in a down market or an up market. Senators, in particular, were getting great returns on their investments—even greater than smart fund managers.

Although I have not studied this, I can just about guarantee you that the investments that various members of Congress made with respect to housing and the housing market was inspired. Just as if they could see the future.

Information is coming out in drips and drabs. No investigating committee wants to turn over too many stones. After all, what Wall Street banker, who has given $1000's or has bundled tens of thousands of dollars for the current president wants to take the fall for this. Do you think they will stay quiet? Do you think one of them is going to be arrested and then he says, “Yep, I did it all. It was all my idea.” No, if he is pushed against the wall, he is going to starting naming government names and government legislation and, more importantly, government regulation, which told them, “Start lending money for housing to anyone and we will buy these loans from you.”

Only recently, it has come out that credit agencies would do rapid re-scores on people with bad credit. They walk in to get a loan after finding a house; they explain with a short letter why this, that, and the other thing is on their credit record, and suddenly, within 1 hour, their credit score goes from 500 to 700. Suddenly, they are qualified to buy that house; they can now get the loan for it. They have the background and credit score necessary to qualify. And so, millions of people purchased homes that they could not afford; and somehow, in all of this, the government went from owning and controlling 50% of American mortgages to owning and controlling and guaranteeing 90% of the mortgages in the United States.

In other words, the government was intimately involved in this mortgage mess, as I have pointed out in many articles in the past; and not just involved, but criminally involved.

What we are talking about is hundreds and possibly thousands of people, both inside and outside of government, who pulled this off. They may have had some honorable intentions at the beginning, but then they began to make so much money and the economy went like gangbusters; and then there was that crash. And still, some Senators and Congressmen seemed to have this uncanny ability to know how to time their own investments as to make money during one of the greatest crashes to occur in our lifetime.

Let me make it clear—if there are more than 10 Wall Street types and mortgage company CEO’s that are arrested, then, there is going to be revelations of ties to our government, government officials, and government regulators to a point that our heads will spin. And then there will be thousands of arrests, most of them coming from inside the government.

So don’t expect any arrests; not in the near future.

Why Obama needs to make Reaganomics disappear

By James Pethokoukis

Barack Obama's Osawatomie Speech was certainly one of the worst given by a U.S. president in modern American history. This bit was particularly egregious:

Now, just as there was in Teddy Roosevelt's time, there is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let's respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune. "The market will take care of everything," they tell us. If we just cut more regulations and cut more taxes - especially for the wealthy - our economy will grow stronger. Sure, they say, there will be winners and losers. But if the winners do really well, then jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle down to everybody else. And, they argue, even if prosperity doesn't trickle down, well, that's the price of liberty.

Now, it's a simple theory. And we have to admit, it's one that speaks to our rugged individualism and our healthy skepticism of too much government. That's in America's DNA. And that theory fits well on a bumper sticker. (Laughter.) But here's the problem: It doesn't work. It has never worked. (Applause.) It didn't work when it was tried in the decade before the Great Depression. It's not what led to the incredible postwar booms of the `50s and `60s. And it didn't work when we tried it during the last decade. (Applause.) I mean, understand, it's not as if we haven't tried this theory.

The gross simplifications and distortions aside, is Obama right? Has cutting taxes and regulation really "never worked"? From 1966-1982, the U.S. economy grew at an average annual rate of 2.7 percent - a figure which smooths over four recessions (including two horrific ones) - as inflation and unemployment and taxes and regulation skyrocketed. In nominal terms, the stock market was flat over the period. In real terms, it collapsed. But hey, at least incomes were more equal in a "misery loves company" sort of way. Obama's brand of Keynesian economics was considered a dead issue, and Malaise America feared what coming decades would bring.

But starting in the late 1970s, the U.S. economy began to deregulate, while taxes were cut sharply and indexed for inflation. The U.S. economy grew at an average pace of 3.3 percent from 1983-2007, inflation - the scourge of the 1970s - was slayed, and the stock market rose by 1,400 percent. Median middle-class incomes rose by roughly 50 percent. Reaganomics worked. But Obama acts as if that generation of steady growth - driven by tax cuts and deregulation - never happened since it doesn't fit into his disingenuous narrative.

The Orwellian American Left

by David Limbaugh

As I heard Barack Obama and his propaganda minister, Jay Carney, endorsing tax cuts as a vehicle for economic growth, I was reminded, again, of George Orwell's "1984" and the striking similarities between his Oceania and the American left's vision for America.

Oceania's Big Brother regime had "four Ministries between which the entire apparatus of government was divided," the Ministry of Truth, the Ministry of Peace, the Ministry of Love and the Ministry of Plenty. Each department was dedicated to the opposite principle suggested by its title. "Truth" disseminated lies. "Peace" promoted war. "Love" enforced uniformity of thought. And "Plenty" manipulated the economy to impoverish the people while enriching the ruling class. God was expelled and absolute truth abolished, while "doublespeak" was promoted.

Oceania's Thought Police was the Ministry of Love's enforcement arm, while the Ministry of Truth undertook the task of rewriting history in service to the Party slogan, "Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past."

Today the left has a Ministry of Truth, because it knows that twice as many Americans identify themselves as conservatives than as liberals and so has to disguise its policies to deceive the majority. Its Ministry of Peace would be better-named the Ministry of Bipartisanship, which, in the name of reaching across the aisle with a friendly hand, slices it off with a partisan dagger. Its Ministry of Love is more aptly named the Ministry of Tolerance, which dictates one way of thinking and demonizes dissenters. The Ministry of Plenty is alive and well in the Obama administration's cadre of economic advisers.

The liberal establishment's Ministry of Truth extends throughout our culture, having taken over our educational institutions, the arts and the sciences. How slavishly our academics hew to the Party slogan. They have planted themselves in positions of cultural influence to "control the present," in order to rewrite the past (to conform to their dogma), for purposes of "controlling the future."

Our professors of history, economics, political science, sociology, psychology, philosophy, journalism, law, the hard sciences and other fields deride Western civilization and characterize our founders as Christian-mocking deists devoted to enlightenment principles of the philosophers. They speciously tie our unique freedoms to our "secular" founding to argue that we must banish God from the public square, lest we lose our liberties. In the name of academic inquiry, these academic and cultural "Thought Police" indoctrinate and intimidate students who dare deviate from their thought mandates.

Their textbooks tell us that Franklin D. Roosevelt not only was not a domestic liberal but also saved capitalism through socialism. (Talk about "doublespeak.") They say his New Deal spent us out of the Great Depression, while current historians not housed in the Ministry of Truth tell us it exacerbated our economic woes. Based on the ministry's revisionism, Keynesian economists were empowered to reflect those myths in their textbooks for a half-century. Armed with their revised lessons from history, Obama's Ministry of Plenty advocated passage of the "stimulus" bill, which was doublespeak for "rampant redistribution to its allies, sucking the oxygen out of the private sector and suppressing the economy."

The left's Ministry of Truth, with the full-throated support of the "unbiased" mainstream media, has given us such Orwellian originals as "pro-choice" while suing an 80-year-old prayer-warrior for standing outside Planned Parenthood's abortion factory to share important information with pregnant mothers to help them make a fully informed choice. The ministry seeks to shut down conservative talk radio, with the "Fairness Doctrine." It forbids private ballots for employees to vote anonymously on union membership for the purpose of intimidating them to join -- in the name of the "Employee Free Choice Act." It boasts of "budget cuts" when it slightly reduces the rate of increases in spending. It calls the budget-busting Obamacare legislation the "Affordable Care Act." It calls a bill that would further expand unemployment a "jobs bill." It fabricates and manipulates a consensus on "climate change" and ostracizes dissenters as science-averse. (In Oceania, science had "almost ceased to exist.") It conspires with its Ministry of Tolerance to describe political dissent from its effort to legalize homosexual marriage as "hate" and to brand political conservatism as "racism." While the rapacious Obama administration recklessly squanders our national wealth in its lust for power, its ministries of Plenty and Bipartisanship vilify the wealthy -- who are paying a disproportionate share of taxes -- for not paying their fair share. The Ministry of Plenty, while presiding over the destruction of the private sector, castigates job creators for hoarding all the wealth.

2012 won't be so much about two competing visions as it will be a contest of truth. Without the left's Orwellian ministers and their deputies in the press and academia, it would be a historic blowout and rejection of their vision. I'm betting it will be anyway.

He redefined the very meaning of leadership by leading from behind. Rising unemployment is now jobs "saved or created." Warfare is an "overseas contingency operation" and the ability to attack and retreat at the same time. He has redefined political oratory with the aggressive use of "I, me and my." Terrorism is now, "manmade disasters," while diplomacy is apologizing and bowing to world leaders for the sins of those, who came before, not as great as he. A trillion dollars has become an affordable sum. Bipartisanship is giving the opposition the opportunity to do as they are told, and dignified debate is the demonization of anyone who disagrees. Fair play is victory by any means. Truth is whatever he says it is.

The Tax Man Cometh

By Bill O'Reilly

As you may know I'm a one-percenter. I've been lucky in my career. I've worked my way up to affluent status. More than 30 years ago I started in Scranton, Pennsylvania at 150 bucks a week plus I made $20 extra writing gag lines for "Uncle Ted's Ghoul School". All of that I chronicled in my book "A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity".

Now this week my crack accountant who shall remain nameless so he's not indicted handed me my tax bill. Let me put it this way if my father were still alive today, he would get a heart attack just looking at this. But that's fine. I love my country. I want it to be strong and the government needs money to accomplish that. The problem I have is that much of my tax money and yours too is absolutely wasted.

The outgoing doctor in charge of Medicare, Donald Berwick, told the press last week he believes up to 30 percent of Medicare payments are wasted, either stolen or unnecessary... 30 percent. That's about $168 billion dollars down the drain every year. And you can carry that figure over to just about every federal program.

Look at all the money wasted in the Solyndra debacle and we can't even measure the chaos in the welfare system.

What American politicians have done is set up complicated programs that are largely unsupervised. There's nobody watching the trillions of dollars spent and the wise guys know it.

Now the feds in New York State want even more of my money. But are they willing to watch how they spend it? No. They are not. It's much easier just to tell working class people and the poor that rich guys like O'Reilly are going to pay the bill so you don't have to worry about it.

Well, with more than $15 trillion dollars of debt, every American should be worried. Again, I don't mind paying an enormous sum to Caesar. That is my responsibility as an honest citizen. But I am outraged, outraged that our political system refuses to watch where that money goes.

And that's "The Memo."

New Plea for $3 donation to Obama

Drew -

My name is Wendi, and about a month ago, I had dinner with President Obama.

It was one of the most significant experiences of my life.

It all happened because I responded to a "Dinner with Barack" email in my inbox. I was planning on making a donation anyway, so I thought I might as well do it now.

When I got the call, I couldn't believe it - and when I flew out to D.C. for the dinner, I really couldn't believe it. I'm just one of more than a million grassroots supporters of this campaign. But a few hours later there I was.

I never imagined that I would sit down for a conversation, let alone a meal, with the President of the United States.

If you've thought about entering but haven't taken the chance yet, I urge you to do so now. You never know what might happen.

And I hear the First Lady is going to be there for this one, too. . . very cool.

Donate $3 or whatever you can today to be automatically entered to win dinner with Barack and Michelle.

I've supported Barack Obama for a long time, and in 2008, I phone banked and canvassed for him near my hometown of Corydon, Indiana.

To be able to talk to him in person, to connect with him across the dinner table, was very special.

I told him about my son and his college loans, my work as an artist, and asked him about public education - I could tell that he was genuinely listening to each of us, even though I'm sure he had a lot going on that day, and his own family back at the White House.

When I got back home, I told my husband and friends that the President was exactly the man we all thought he was: modest, genuine, engaged, and very caring.

It's a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life. I'm so glad I decided to enter.

Join me by giving $3 or more, and start thinking about who you'd invite to dinner:

Good luck,

President Obama’s Weekly Message

Today, America faces a make-or-break moment for the middle class.

After the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes, some still want to return to the same policies that got us into this mess. They're the same policies that have stacked the deck against working Americans for too long. They're part of a philosophy that says we're better off when everyone is left to fend for themselves and play by their own rules.

But I have a different vision. I believe that we are greater together than we are on our own. I believe that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone engages in fair play.

To ensure fair play, last year, we passed the toughest financial reform in generations.

See, for too long, the rules weren't the same on Wall Street as they were on Main Street. Risky bets were made with other people's money. Some folks made a lot of money taking advantage of consumers. It was wrong. And this irresponsible behavior on the part of some contributed to the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

So this financial reform refocuses the financial sector on what's really important: getting capital to entrepreneurs who want to grow their businesses, and financing to millions of families who want to buy a house or send their kids to college.

A key part of that was putting in place the first-ever consumer watchdog - someone whose job it is to protect American families from being taken advantage of by mortgage lenders, payday lenders, and debt collectors.

Tens of millions of Americans use these services. Protecting them from unscrupulous practices is an important job. And that's why I nominated Richard Cordray to serve as the head of this consumer watchdog agency.

As the former Attorney General of Ohio, Richard helped recover billions of dollars on behalf of retirees and stood up to dishonest lending practices. He has the support of most Attorneys General across the country, both Democrats and Republicans. Members of Congress from both parties say he's more than qualified for the job. And yet on Thursday, Republicans blocked his nomination. They refused to even allow it to come up for a vote.

That doesn't make any sense. Do Republicans in Congress think our financial crisis was caused by too much oversight of mortgage lenders or debt collectors? Of course not. And every day America has to wait for a new consumer protection watchdog is another day that dishonest businesses can target and take advantage of students, seniors, and service members.

So I refuse to take "no" for an answer. Financial institutions have plenty of high-powered lawyers and lobbyists looking out for them. It's time consumers had someone on their side.

And while they're at it, Republicans in Congress should stop the games and extend the payroll tax cut for working Americans. Because if they don't, nearly 160 million Americans will see their taxes go up at the end of this month.

Congress can't end the year by taking money out of the pockets of working Americans. Now is not the time for playing politics. Now is the time to do what's right for the American people.

No one should go home for the holidays until we get this done. So tell your Members of Congress, don't be a Grinch. Tell them to do the right thing for you and for our economy. Thank you.

Michael Moore’s Manifesto

the Winter of our Occupation

[Apparently tired of all the lame stuff coming out of the Occupy Movement, Michael Moore decides to give the “99%” a helping hand and a nudge in the right direction.]

And now it is winter. Wall Street rejoices, hoping that the change of seasons will mean a change in our spirit, our commitment to stop them.

They couldn't be more wrong. Have they not heard of Washington and the troops at Valley Forge? The Great Flint Sit-Down Strike in the winter of 1936-37? The Michigan Wolverines crushing Ohio State in the 1950 Blizzard Bowl? When it comes to winter, it is the time historically when the people persevere and the forces of evil make their retreat!

We are not even 12 weeks old, yet Occupy Wall Street has grown so fast, so big, none of us can keep up with the hundreds of towns who have joined the movement, or the thousands of actions -- some of them just simple ones in neighborhoods, schools and organizations -- that have happened. The national conversation has been irreversibly changed. Now everyone is talking about how the 1% are getting away with all the money while the 99% struggle to make ends meet. People are no longer paralyzed by despair or apathy. Most know that now is the time to reclaim our country from the bankers, the lobbyists -- and their gofers: the members of the United States Congress and the 50 state legislatures.

And they're crazy if they think that a little climate chaos (otherwise known as winter in the 21st century) that they've helped to bring about is going to stop us.

I would like to propose to my Occupying sisters and brothers that there are many ways to keep Occupy Wall Street going through the winter months. There is perhaps no better time to move the movement indoors for a few months -- and watch it grow even bigger! (For those who have the stamina to maintain the outdoor occupations, by all means, keep it up -- and the rest of us will do our best to help you and keep you warm!)

The winter gives us an amazing opportunity to expand our actions against the captains of capitalism who have occupied our homes with their fraudulent mortgage system which has tossed millions of families out onto the curb; a cruel health care system that has told 50 million Americans "if you can't afford a doctor, go F yourself"; a student loan system that sends 22-year-olds into an immediate "debtors' prison" of working lousy jobs for which they didn't go to school but now have to take because they're in hock for tens of thousands of dollars for the next two decades; and a jobs market that keeps 25 million Americans un- or under-employed -- and much of the rest of the workers forced to accept wage cuts, health care reductions and zero job security.

But we in the Occupy Movement reject this version of the "American Dream." Instead, I suggest we shift our focus for this winter to the following actions:

OCCUPY THE WINTER

A proposal to the General Assembly of Occupy Wall Street from Michael Moore

1. Occupy Our Homes. Sorry, banks, a roof over one's head is a human right, and you will no longer occupy our homes through foreclosure and eviction because well, you see, they are our homes, not yours. You may hold the mortgage; you don't hold the right to throw us or our neighbors out into the cold. With almost one in three home mortgages currently in foreclosure, nearing foreclosure or "underwater," the Occupy Movement must form local "Occupy Strike Forces" to create human shields when the banks come to throw people out of their homes. If the foreclosure has already happened, then we must help families move back into their foreclosed homes -- literally (see this clip from my last film to watch how a home re-occupation is accomplished). Beginning today, Take Back the Land, plus many other citizens' organizations nationwide, are kicking off Occupy Our Homes. Numerous actions throughout the day today have already resulted in many families physically taking back their homes. This will continue every day until the banks are forced to stop their fraudulent practices, until homeowners are allowed to change their mortgage so that it reflects the true value of their homes, and until those who can no longer afford a mortgage are allowed to stay in their homes and pay rent. I beseech the news media to cover these actions -- they are happening everywhere. Evictions, though rarely covered (you need a Kardashian in your home as you're being evicted to qualify for news coverage) are not a new story (see this scene I filmed in 1988). Also, please remember the words of Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur of Toledo (in 'Capitalism: A Love Story'): Do not leave your homes if the bank forecloses on you! Let them take you to court and then YOU ask the judge to make them produce a copy of your mortgage. They can't. It was chopped up a hundred different ways, bundled with a hundred other mortgages, and sold off to the Chinese. If they can't produce the mortgage, they can't evict you.

2. Occupy Your College. In nearly every other democracy on the planet, students go to college for free or almost free. Why do those countries do that? Because they know that for their society to advance, they must have an educated population. Without that, productivity, innovation and an informed electorate is stunted and everyone suffers as a result. Here's how we do it in the U.S.A.: make education one of our lowest priorities, graduate students who know little about the world or their own government or the economy, and then force them into crushing debt before they even have their first job. That way has really worked well for us, hasn't it? It's made us the world leader in . in . well, ok, we're like 27th or 34th in everything now (except war). This has to end. Students should spend this winter doing what they are already doing on dozens of campuses -- holding sit-ins, occupying the student loan office, nonviolently disrupting the university regents meetings, and pitching their tents on the administration's lawn. Young people -- we, the '60s generation, promised to create a better world for you. We got halfway there -- now you have to complete the job. Do not stop until these wars are ended, the Pentagon budget is cut in half, and the rich are forced to pay their taxes. And demand that that money go to your education. We'll be there with you on all of this! And when we get this fixed and you graduate, instead of being $40,000 in debt, go see the friggin' world, or tinker around in your garage a la the two Steves, or start a band. Enjoy life, discover, explore, experiment, find your way. Anything but the assistant manager at Taco Bell.

3. Occupy Your Job. Let's spend the winter organizing workplaces into unions. OR, if you already have a union, demand that your leaders get off their ass and get aggressive like our grandparents did. For chrissakes, surely you know we would not have a middle class if it weren't for the strikes of the 1930s-1950s?! In three weeks we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the workers in my hometown of Flint, Michigan taking over and occupying the General Motors factories for 44 days in the dead of winter. Their actions ignited a labor movement that lifted tens of millions out of poverty and into the middle class. It's time to do it again. (According to the Census Bureau and the New York Times, 100 million Americans either live in or near poverty. Disgraceful. Greed has destroyed the core fabric of our communities. Enough!) Here are two good unions to get your fellow workers to sign up and join: UE and SEIU. The CWA are also good. Here's how to get a quick primer in organizing your place of employment (don't forget to be careful while you do this!). If your company is threatening to close down and move the jobs elsewhere, then it's time to occupy the workplace (again, you can get a lesson in how to successfully occupy your factory from my movie).

4. Occupy Your Bank. This is an easy one. Just leave them. Move your checking and your credit card to a nonprofit credit union. It's safe and the decisions made there aren't based on greed. And if a bank tries to evict your neighbor, Occupy the local branch with 20 other people and call the press. Post it on the internet.

5. Occupy the Insurance Man. It's time to not only stand up for the 50 million without health insurance but to also issue a single, simple demand: The elimination of for-profit, privately-controlled health insurance companies. It is nothing short of barbaric to allow businesses to make a profit off people when they get sick. We don't allow anyone to make a profit when we need the fire department or the police. Until recently we would never allow a company to make a profit by operating in a public school. The same should be true for when you need to see a doctor or stay in the hospital. So I say it's long overdue for us to go and Occupy Humana, United Health, Cigna and even the supposed "nonprofit" Blue Crosses. An action on their lawns, in their lobbies, or at the for-profit hospitals -- this is what is needed.

So -- there are my ideas for the five places we can Occupy this winter. Help the foreclosed-upon to Occupy their homes. Occupy your college campus, especially the student loan office and the regents meetings. Occupy your job by getting everyone to sign a union card -- or by refusing to let the CEO ship your job overseas. Occupy your Chase or Citi or Bank of America branch by closing your account and moving it to a credit union. And Occupy the insurance company offices, the pharmaceutical companies' headquarters and the for-profit hospitals until the White House and Congress pass the true single-payer universal health care bill they failed to pass in 2010.

My friends, the rich are running scared right now. You need no further proof of this than to read this story from last week. The Republicans' top strategist met privately with them and told them that they had better change their tune or they were going to be crushed by the Occupy Wall Street movement. They didn't have to change their greedy actions, he assured them -- just the way they talk and PR the situation. He told them never to use the word "capitalism" -- it has now been made a dirty word by the Occupy movement, he said. Only say "economic freedom" from now on, he cautioned. And don't criticize the movement -- because the majority of Americans either agree with it or are feeling the same way. Just tell the Occupiers and the distressed Americans: "I get it." Seriously.

Yes, in just 12 short weeks we have killed their most sacred word -- Capitalism -- and we have them on the run, on the defensive. They should be. Millions are coming after them and our only goal is to remove them from power and replace them with a fair system that is controlled by the 99%. The 1% have been able to get both political parties to do their bidding. Why should only 1% of the population get to have two parties -- and the rest of us have none? That, too, is going to change. In my next post, I will suggest what we can do to Occupy the Electoral Process. But first we must start with those who pull the strings of the puppets in the Congress. That's why it's called Occupy Wall Street. Always better to deal with man in charge, don't you think?

Let's Occupy the Winter! An #OWS Winter will certainly lead to a very hopeful American Spring.

Excellent article “Gennifer Flowers in 1992...said she had a 12-year affair with Bill Clinton...Flowers held a press conference carried live on CNN...She played audiotapes of phone conversations with Clinton.” Apart from this news conference, there was practically no coverage in the major network media, and Peter Jennings dismissed these charges and related polling as mostly voters Clinton wouldn’t get anyway. Two presidential candidates; but the least credible witness, got all of the coverage; and the most credible witness was swept under the carpet.

The Rush Section

A Mortgage Broker on Rapid Credit Re-Scores for Subprime Loans

RUSH: Laurie, who can't say where she is. Is that right? She's worried about lawsuits, so she can't say where she is. Laurie, welcome to the EIB Network. You're worried about the lawsuits from what you're going to say here?

CALLER: Well, it's possible, Rush, and, by the way, it's an honor to speak to you.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: I worked as both a packager and an advertising executive for a mortgage brokerage firm. I saw the rise and fall of the housing market and what infuriates me about when Obama speaks or Barney Frank or anyone else who talks about these mortgage-backed securities and everything that happened is that nobody knows the real truth about what goes on in the mortgage business and why it failed. It's not just people going to the bank, getting a loan, paying the bank back. You know, in the late '90s and early 2000s when real estate prices were sharply on the rise, you know, anywhere between '99 and '03 depending upon what part of the country you lived in, housing prices were on the rise dramatically, and there was a lot of pressure at Fannie and Freddie to get mortgages out the door.

We had a representative from FHA, HUD, Fannie and Freddie, all of which visited this mortgage broker's office. And when Fannie began this idea of packaging these things as securities and grouping them together, you'll find that the number of mortgage brokers for residential mortgages in the country skyrocketed because they were suddenly getting what we call wholesale lines of credits from banks. So mortgage company A or B goes to the bank and he gets a $15 million line of credit called a wholesale line. He fills that line up with mortgages and then they're guaranteed, they're bought off. Fannie and Freddie buy them up immediately, repackage them, or leave them whole and send them out to places like Lehman Brothers. And I worked for a company --

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait. Hold a minute. Why would somebody like Lehman Brothers buy these things?

CALLER: Well, at the time, no one knew that they were insolvent, number one.

RUSH: Why? These were mortgages, a lot of them -- I'm sure you're not talking explicitly here about subprime, but a lot of these mortgages were made to people that weren't paying back, there wasn't an income stream on these mortgages.

CALLER: Yeah, but here's the problem. People talk about subprime. I'll bet 95% of the mortgages that went out of our office were subprime even if they weren't rated that way because I'll tell you the pressure we got from somebody else. We used to get visits by our credit representatives from the three major credit bureaus. They were under a lot of pressure to develop a program to allow people to, quote, unquote, fix their credits faster so --

RUSH: Well, who's -- (crosstalk)

CALLER: -- type of loan --

RUSH: Who was the source of this pressure, Laurie?

CALLER: Well, according to the people from the credit managers bureau, they were getting that pressure from Congress and FHA and Fannie and Freddie that they weren't doing enough to help people --

RUSH: The government.

CALLER: Yeah. The credit agencies were being unfair because they weren't doing enough to allow people who had had financial problems to fix their credit. So here's what happened. It went from, yeah, maybe it took a long time to fix your credit to what we call rapid rescore process. Our office could literally, in one day, take everybody's bad credit issues, write a one-line sentence about each one, fax it over to the credit bureau that we were members of it that we paid to be members of, and, boom, within an hour, they were dropped off and the credit was rescored.

RUSH: Why? Why would this be done?

CALLER: Right. You tell me. Because people wanted people to qualify for mortgages. Especially at the beginning of this problem was what they call nonincome mortgages, people who are unemployed, 1099s or W2s --

RUSH: (laughing) What are we hearing, nonincome mortgages.

CALLER: Yeah, that was the original part of this rapid rescoring problem. If you had a business or you were a small business person and you didn't necessarily have a 1099 or W2 or your books didn't show or you didn't want it to show that you had enough to pay for this loan, all you had to do was walk in the door with a credit score greater than 700.

RUSH: Okay.

CALLER: And I can tell you that if you were anywhere up north of 580 we could rapid rescore you to 700 within an hour.

RUSH: Let me cut to the chase here. So everything that's happened since all this fell apart is all these people that you had to deal with that were forcing all this credit readjustment, all the crime labs, all the churn, all the volume, everything being said now is by people to cover their rear ends?

CALLER: Yeah. And then what happened is I ended up going to work for a firm on the East Coast that saw the beginning of the end here and tried to start buying small portions of these packages from people like Lehman Brothers because they knew they wouldn't get bailed out because they weren't Goldman Sachs.

RUSH: I gotta break, I gotta break in five seconds. Don't lose your train of thought. We'll come back to you after this obscene profit time-out, which does not consist of any mortgage company.

RUSH: This is funny. Michael Moore was reading the Washington Post the other day and he read that Obama has collected more campaign donations from Wall Street banks than all of the Republican candidates combined. So now he's beside himself. He was on CNN. (imitating Moore) "What does this mean? Wall Street's got their guy and it's Obama? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa." His world's been turned upside down. I tried to tell you people on the left, I tried to tell you, Wall Street is liberal Democrat, and its money is going to Obama. And if any of you think that Wall Street is gonna take any kind of a financial hit if Obama gets his way after that speech yesterday, you have got a big wake-up call coming.

Back now to Laurie who can't say where she is because she fears lawsuits. She was in the mortgage business. You know, I checked some e-mails during the break here, Laurie, and you know how people are reacting to your call? It's tough to pick one thing, but your description of the rapid rescoring of consumer credit has sent people through the roof.

CALLER: It should.

RUSH: Yeah. It should. People's credit scores were just restored to 700, to perfect, just to qualify 'em for mortgages.

CALLER: Yeah. And it took literally less than 15 minutes at the end of the day. I mean we could fax it over and have it faxed back and rapid rescored. Now, did that hold? If six months later they applied for credit, was that still there? No, oftentimes it wasn't. Which means that's all it was for. You couldn't rapid rescore for a home loan unless you knew a mortgage broker.

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You gotta let me in here for questions, 'cause this is blockbuster. So the rapid rescore was a temporary rescore just to get people a mortgage, but that credit rating didn't survive if they tried to use it for anything else?

CALLER: It wouldn't survive the next update from the credit bureau, from whichever of the major three. If they're doing it quarterly, monthly, the next time that update came along everything was back on, everything was like it was before. I actually knew people who had friends that owned mortgage businesses and they would go in there to have them rescore them so that they could go get a car loan.

RUSH: Okay. So I'll tell you who's really ticked off about this hearing your call -- all the people who played by the rules. They didn't buy anything they couldn't afford. What you're basically saying is that people who were unqualified were qualified on a temporary basis to go buy whatever they wanted, and then that paper, that mortgage, it was packaged with a bunch of other mortgages and sent down the trail where they tried to find value in it somewhere else along the line?

CALLER: Absolutely. And the people that played by the rules that got hurt by that were just the beginning of the bargain. I worked for a company on the East Coast that went to work and started to buy small packages of mortgages that had already started to go bad. The first package they bought was from Lehman Brothers. And because these people were very savvy investors and real estate prices were still on the rise, they would negotiate these people out of their homes. They would give them what they could. They would take the homes back. They would sell them again to qualified buyers and for a very short period of time this was successful. But if somebody wants to spend some time and Google this, at least four different states, prosecutors in at least four different states sued three of these groups doing this under RICO statutes. I got scooped up in that. That's why I'm worried. I had to testify at three of those trials because somebody at the end of the day came back and said, "Well, they negotiated me out of my house and I shoulda gotten more because real estate prices were still on the rise."

RUSH: What does that mean, they negotiated me out of my house?

CALLER: Well, these groups would buy these mortgages that were already late from companies that had bought mortgage-backed securities that had started to get the idea that these things were gonna go bad. 'Cause here's the problem. The vast majority of especially the nonincome qualified loans that were given out during this period of time and a huge majority of just regular loans were called ARMs, they were adjustable-rate mortgages, and 95% of them I would bet you were two and three-year ARMs given between '04 and '05.

RUSH: Oh, jeez.

CALLER: So at the end of '06 these two-year ARMs had started to circulate, they had become due, they had to refinance their house, and they had to now not only pay two and a half percent interest, they had to pay a reasonable interest rate plus, you know, just a regular amortization schedule. They had to be paying principal down every month. These payments in some instances were four and five times the original payment. If they were paying a thousand dollars a month, now their payment was four or five thousand. That's when this all started to go bad. It's when the companies that have bought mortgage-backed securities tried to find a way out.

RUSH: Right, exactly.

CALLER: There were investors that moved in to try and help them do that, and as these people started falling behind on their loans, these people would try to negotiate with them to take whatever the value of the house was with prices still on the rise because no one realized the amount of poison that had been injected into the system yet.

RUSH: See, I don't believe nobody knew the amount of the poison.

CALLER: No, I think somebody did, but the public didn't. The people who were falling behind in their mortgages didn't, and I have to say, too, Fannie and Freddie spread this stuff out so far and so wide that you would have had to really been in on the ground floor of this to realize how much, how many millions, billions, trillions, whatever it was in dollars of these securities were floating around in the open market, and I bet that if there's any FOIA left in this country, someone could find out that many, many, many of these packages went out, and if those loans were rapid rescores, they were in one package, and if they were actual qualified mortgages they were in another package.

RUSH: If you were on the witness stand and somebody asked you to point a finger at one place, people wanted to understand who is responsible for this, could you do it?

CALLER: I probably couldn't name any name, but I can tell you that it was Fannie and Freddie because every mortgage seminar that we went to -- remember the little Fannie, Freddie junkets they had in Chicago that people were upset about the $600,000 they spent? Those are relatively common in the mortgage business. We used to go to them once or twice a year. Fannie and Freddie were there, and they might as well have set up a carnival booth. I mean they were so excited about the fact that if you were a new mortgage business and you could get a wholesale line of credit, you could rapid rescore and qualify 500,000 people in a year, and they would back and buy everything you could send them.

RUSH: It was on this basis that all the executives there were paying themselves these bonuses, right?

fnma.gif

CALLER: Yeah, because that's exactly what was happening, a number of mortgage brokers in this country I would bet you doubled or maybe even tripled between '98 and 2004. I know that the office I originally worked for, the owner and two other brokers were the only brokers in the field. By the time rapid rescore really got going he had 20 brokers in the field and he sat in the office and did nothing but pull in wholesale lines of credit. And these wholesale lines of credit oftentimes -- well, one of the big things that was doing wholesale lines was WaMu and they're no more.

RUSH: Yeah. WaMu, and they are no more. And, and a lot of others are no more, and Lehman is no more. Laurie, I have some questions about the cases you're testifying in and I know you can't tell me, so could we get your number and stay in touch with you down the line, months or so, whenever this shakes out and query you further about it when it's safe for you?

CALLER: Sure.

RUSH: Okay, good, don't hang up, Snerdley will get your name. And, by the way, would you like an iPad?

CALLER: I have one, but thank you very much.

RUSH: Okay, all right.

CALLER: You could make me just as happy by continuing to do what you're doing.

RUSH: Well, I appreciate that more than you know. I really appreciate that. Hang on and we'll get a number and find a way to stay in touch with you but only when you -- Countrywide's no more, either, by the way. Friends of Angelo. So whenever it's safe for us to talk to you or for you to tell us more about it -- (interruption) no, Wachovia is not gone, it's Wells Fargo now. At any rate, we'll stay in touch and I appreciate your doing that. She's gotta testify in three days and I would love to ask her about the cases, but I'm not gonna put her in that position. We'll find out from her later. Thanks, Laurie, very much.

Clinton Cashed in on Corzine Scam

RUSH: "Even as Jon Corzine's MF Global was collapsing, a firm that includes former President Clinton in a senior post was raking in huge fees for public relations and financial advice. Clinton was part of a company called Teneo Holdings." He was the CEO, the chief exec, something or other, and this outfit that Clinton was the head of was getting 50 grand a month on a retainer from Corzine because Corzine said he wanted access to Clinton's political "family." That's sort of like saying you want to be in with the Gambino bunch or the Lucchese mob. He wants to be a made guy. Corzine wants to be let in, wants to do the whole blood transfer thing. So 50 grand to Clinton's group for "PR." How did that work out for him?

Financial advice? How did that work out for him? Doesn't Bill Clinton have enough money? Can I turn this line around? You liberals like this line: "Doesn't Bill Clinton have enough money?" He's always bragging about how much money he makes and how much taxes he pays and how he's eager and willing to pay even more taxes and Hillary Clinton does the same thing. "Doesn't Bill Clinton have enough money?" What in the world is he doing taking $50,000 from Jon Corzine's company -- a company which, by the way, filed for bankruptcy, went belly up and commingled client money with company money trying to cover losses, and now all of that money that belonged to individuals is gone.

Yet Bill Clinton got 50 grand a month out of this operation. Now, where is anybody upset about "the appearance of impropriety" here? All we're hearing about today is what a rotten SOB Newt Gingrich is. (New Castrati impression) "That's right, Mr. Limbaugh! Well, you can talk about Clinton all you want but as we all know, Gingrich was involved with Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac or one of the two and took millions of dollars for historian lobbying purposes."

Okay, fine. Then we can ask another salient question: What is it with politicians who want to constantly put their hand in the public cookie jar and pull out more for themselves? Why not, when you can get away with it? But this is precisely what happens when people have power for too long: They get financially incestuous; they pass money around for fake services. There's no way Bill Clinton's firm was doing PR for Corzine. If they were they need to be sued! There's no way Clinton's firm was offering financial advice.

If they were, they really need to be sued because look what happened to Corzine's company! Some of the worst PR, some of the worst financial maneuvers in the history of financial maneuvers -- and now we get news that Clinton was being paid 50 grand a month for giving good advice. "The relationship was controversial within MF Global even before the company's financial problems hit the news. As executives questioned why an outside firm, Clinton's, was needed for work that had long been done in-house."

RUSH: No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm not through with this Clinton-Corzine business. If Jon Corzine were a Republican, what do you think would be happening to him about right now? If Jon Corzine were a Republican, what would the relevance of this story be in the Drive-By Media? You've got a miniature version of Bernie Madoff here. In addition to that, the New York Post in their story on this does say that Clinton's outfit that was on the $50,000 retainer -- by the way, Clinton's outfit demanded $200,000 a month, but Corzine put his foot down and said, "No, I'm only gonna pay you 50 for your expertise." New York Post says that Clinton's outfit actually did give Corzine advice on European financial investments.

What did MF Global...? I get so distracted by the MF, I gotta be real careful. MF Global, the reason they went belly up is that Corzine invested, he shorted -- no, he went long, I think -- on European bonds. Yeah, with investors money, and no collateral to back it up, and the New York post says that Corzine did get this kind of advice on European financial investments from Clinton's group. So Corzine, in addition to commingling clients' money, out of that client money gave him 50 grand a month and Clinton's firm is advising him to do exactly what he did which led to the bankruptcy, and now everybody on Clinton's is saying (impression), "Hey, hey, hey, you know, it wasn't me! Jon was just -- he just -- he just looked for some help out there we're doing whatever we can."

It's incestuous. These people pass other people's money around for fake services -- PR, financial advice, whatever -- from their stashes, gotten through taxes or fake financial companies. "Another MF employee told the New York Post that the outfit, Clinton's bunch originally wanted $200,000 a month for its work but that was too steep a price for MF decision-makers so Clinton's outfit served as a personal PR firm and political consultant for then MF Global CEO Corzine, the former governor and senator from New Jersey. Also offered advice," as I just recently mentioned, "on European financial investments like the ones that ultimately led to their collapse. "In October..."

You know, this would be hilarious if it weren't for the fact that again a number of totally innocent investors lost anything, once again at the hands of a bunch of Democrats. "MF is now bankrupt. It's the subject of investigations by federal prosecutors and regulators," and it isn't gonna go anywhere because federal prosecutors and investigators work for the regime! It's like saying Fidel Castro is gonna investigate his brother and put him in jail. It isn't gonna happen. "Corzine himself has been subpoenaed to testify this week before the House agriculture committee, one of several Congress committees examining the company's failure, the biggest bankruptcy since the Lehman Brothers crash. Corzine and MF Global declined comment about the Clinton deal as did execs with the Clinton firm.

"Clinton spokesman Matt McKenna said, 'President Clinton does not advise clients on the firm's behalf. Clinton does make money from the firm, but he has declined to disclose the sum.'" Okay, so they're admitting that some of the 50 grand ends up in Clinton's back pocket, but doesn't Bill Clinton have enough money, Democrats? Doesn't Bill Clinton have enough money, my good friends on the left? Why does he have to keep sticking his beak in every Democrat operation? What's he running, a protection racket?

I mean, Corzine said he wanted an in with "the Clinton political family." What are we talking about here? I'm sure Bob Torricelli would love to have an in with the Clinton political "family," but it didn't work; and I'm sure at one time Andrew Cuomo would love to have had an in with the Clinton "family." "Corzine's ties to Clinton's firm are not so much the result of his relationship with Clinton as one of the firm's top executives, Tom Shea, according to sources." So that's that. "On October 25th of 2011, MF Global reported a $191.6 million quarterly loss as a result of trading on European government bonds," and that's what caused 'em to go Chapter 11.

RUSH: Snerdley, did you think maybe when Clinton was asked to join MF Global he thought it was BJ Global? What could explain this?

Our Education System has Failed to Teach Economic Freedom

RUSH: Steve in Chicago as we start on the phones. I really thank you for waiting. Welcome to the program.

CALLER: Rush, it's great to be on with you. Thanks for having me. It's a great day to talk about the literacy that this guy doesn't have in the financial and economic markets.

RUSH: You mean Obama.

CALLER: Yep. I spent 25 years practicing economics and finance and that speech yesterday shows a scary level of financial ignorance which he's spewing forth to people like the Occupy people, which is damaging and dangerous to the future of this nation.

RUSH: Well, let me ask you a question, Steve, 'cause you've said the president's knowledge of finance and so forth, capitalism, is really nonexistent, ignorant. Do you think he's ignorant and dumb, stupid, or does he really know what he's doing here and is trying to camouflage what he's doing with ignorance? What do you think?

CALLER: Rush, I believe the motives to people smarter than me but I can tell you he's the product of an America and global educational system that doesn't teach people how economics works. When the 1990s, early part -- I had an opportunity to take Soviet company personnel around the United States, and we visited grocery stores and neighborhoods and big box retailers, and without exception, those people left this country saying, "Government is the problem, not the solution."

RUSH: And it wasn't long after that that glasnost and perestroika failed and the Soviet Union imploded.

CALLER: And it imploded because socialism, slash, communism, don't work. What you have is a system that demotivates productive behavior. It institutionalizes poverty like we've seen in this country since the late 1960s. We have spent trillions of American dollars on the war on poverty, and what we have now is worse poverty than we had when it began.

RUSH: He's right. He is right. In fact, expressed as a percentage it's the same. After all of these trillions, after all these trillions of transfer payments, the percentages of people in poverty are the same. Now, we define poverty pretty high. But still, everything's relative. And the way we define it has been pretty constant over the years. You are exactly right. The war on poverty, the Great whatever, Society, none of it, none of it has worked, not one liberal program has worked.

CALLER: All we have done is forced the tax bill into fewer and fewer people. In 1980 20% of Americans paid no income tax. Today, 48% pay no income tax, and the top 10% paid 70%. You cannot push that further without fundamentally destroying the opportunities that exist --

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: -- in this nation.

RUSH: And during all of this our exalted president tells us that the top 1%, the top 10% are not paying their fair share.

CALLER: Well, the top 1% is anybody who makes more than $35,000 in the US because compared to the globe, that's the top 1%. That's the wealth transfer that's going on. And for him to have the audacity to say that this system hasn't worked, look at the nineteenth and twentieth centuries with the most explosive economic growth in the history of humanity. It was a miracle that happened, and it happened because of the Founding Fathers' belief in limited government.

RUSH: Yep. He's exactly right. There is no question. So what we've done, we've subsidized poverty. I've heard stories, we've had people call this program, just like this guy, Soviets, ex-patriots, people that used to live there, government officials, when they came here and saw the corner grocery store, their minds were blown. They'd never seen that kind of plenty. When they saw a big box store, they had no comprehension. They had no way to comprehend a Costco. It made no sense. They had no experience with that. Their experience, forget the name, but in Moscow there was this giant big store that had everything. GUM. That's right, it was the GUM department store, except it didn't have anything. There was a shortage of everything in this store all the time. Now, the leaders never shopped there. The leaders took all the good stuff before it ended up at the GUM department store. We've spent $16 trillion in the war on poverty since the sixties. The same amount of money we owe in our national debt. Our national debt equals what we have spent on the war on poverty. What does that tell you? Thank you, Steve. That's Steve, Chicago. Great, great call.

Obama: Unemployment Benefits Will Create More Jobs Than Keystone Pipeline

RUSH: From TheHill.com: "A pending legislative package to extend the payroll tax credit and unemployment insurance will create more jobs than the approval of the Keystone pipeline, Obama said yesterday. 'Here's what I know,' he said. 'However many jobs might be generated by the pipeline, they're going to be a lot fewer than the jobs created by extending the payroll tax cut and extending unemployment insurance.'" In fact, here's the president saying that. This was this morning, actually, in Washington talking about this.

OBAMA: I know that, eh -- the -- the suggestion right now is that somehow, "Well, this Keystone issue, uh, will create jobs." That's being determined by the State Department right now, and there is a process. But here's what I know. However many jobs might be generated by a Keystone pipeline, they're gonna be a lot fewer than the jobs that are created by extending the payroll tax cut and extending unemployment insurance.

RUSH: That's another lie. The Keystone creates pipeline 20,000 jobs immediately up to a half a million. Unemployment benefits create jobs? (laughing) Think of that. Unemployment benefits create jobs. What was it that Pelosi said the return was? For every dollar spent on unemployment benefits, the economy grows by a buck and a half or two dollars or whatever? I mean, it's absurd. It's literally absurd. Unemployment benefits? Where are all the jobs created? We've had the payroll tax holiday for a year. There aren't any new jobs being created.

The unemployment number is getting smaller because the universe of jobs is if we go to smaller. They're just simply shrinking it. But I mean the answer to this is, "Mr. President, do both! If you're focused like a laser on jobs, do both. What is this straw man you continue to construct? What is this either on? Why not do both! We need jobs; you say you're laser focused on jobs; you understand people want to work. Why not do both, Mr. President?" and it's like I said yesterday, the pipeline project brings campaign contributions from both sides of the issue: The environmentalist wackos and the oil interests. They are both sending money to Obama hoping he decides in their favor. If he decides now, he cuts off half of that money -- and everything he's doing is about his reelection and nothing else.

RUSH: Check this story from the AP. "Americans' wealth last summer suffered its biggest quarterly..." In fact, this is a double whammer day for Obama, because the army has announced job cuts of 8700. Do you realize what a celebration is going on in the White House today? Eighty-seven hundred Army jobs in the Pentagon cut, buyouts, attrition, what have you, 8700 jobs cut! My God, how happy can Obama be? And then this news.

"Americans' wealth last summer suffered its biggest quarterly loss in more than two years, as stocks, pension funds, and home values lost value." The 1% got hurt. Those evil SOBs are finally having it stuck to 'em. "Household net worth fell 4% in the July-September quarter, according to a Federal Reserve report released yesterday. It was the sharpest drop since the tumultuous period after the September 2008 bankruptcy of investment bank Lehman Brothers." Speaking of that, how many of you went out and rented the movie Margin Call on my recommendations. Did you like it, did you watch it? Yeah, I should tell you this movie is patterned after Lehman Brothers, but Lehman Brothers was allowed to go belly up. They didn't bail it out. We don't know that that happens to this fictional firm in the movie Margin Call but it's loosely based on Lehman Brothers.

This is the AP here, folks, which has been on Obama's side. We gotta go after that 1%. We gotta stick it to 'em. We have got to roast them. The 1%, why, the rich, they're to blame for everything. By the way, could somebody tell me what tax cuts from Jimmy Carter caused the misery index to go sky high? What Jimmy Carter tax cuts caused that depression? Somebody tell me what tax cuts in Italy, Spain, and Greece caused the problems that they're in? What tax cuts? Well, there aren't any tax cuts in the Carter years, or in Italy, Spain, or Greece, but Obama is claiming the tax cuts -- George Bush tax cuts and any other tax cut that the rich have gotten -- are the reason we're in this economic mess. You know, the tax cuts did it. Lower net worth can hurt the economy, AP says? Whoa, whoa, whoa, I thought lower net worth was what we were after. I thought we were gonna soak it to 'em! I thought we were gonna make the rich pay, and now it's an Obama Christmas because the rich have lost some of their net worth.

I thought that was good news.

RUSH: Yep, it's a Democrat Christmas, the rich got poorer. But I thought that was good, I really thought that was the objective. The wealth gap shrunk, yeah, and the way Obama wants, the rich get poorer. Democrats never want to elevate people at the bottom, they just want to shrink it from the top. But then AP says here, I'm confused, "Lower net worth can hurt the economy." (gasping) You mean the rich getting poorer can hurt the economy? Let's read further. "When people feel poorer, they spend less." Oh, so the rich are feeling poorer because they are poorer. Okay, let's keep reading. "That slows growth." Really? "Lower net worth can hurt the economy." That's the thesis. "When people feel poorer they spend less. That slows growth." Oh, I see, that's exactly what Obama's after. That's what he's after, slower growth. AP just doesn't get it. Ah, okay. Okay. "Businesses typically then cut back on hiring."

So after three years of the State-Controlled Media following the regime's lead, attacking the rich, trying to support any policy that would take money away from them, now the rich are getting poorer, and all of a sudden AP is concerned because that slows growth, businesses typically cut back on hiring and expansion, people are spending less, so this is not good, according to the AP. It is perfect for Obama and the Democrats, I mean it is Christmas.

RUSH: Interesting little story here today from TheHill.com: "A Democratic lawmaker on Friday said President Obama might cave on his threat to veto an extension of the payroll tax cut if it's tied to" the Keystone pipeline. You know who said it? Emanuel Cleaver, Democrat, Missouri, from Kansas City. I remember old Emanuel. I used to live there. Emanuel was something when I lived there. He might have been a member of Congress, might have been mayor, might have been something else, but I remember Emanuel Cleaver from those days; and he said, "I think [Obama] is serious, but at the end, it may be here's an opportunity to get a deal and get what I want and go home.

"Consider the fact that in previous debates like this, before the end of the summer, the president never said, 'I will veto [the pipeline deal],' so I don't know the strategy in the White House right now, but I've got to say that the president is serious, but I think in politics everybody understands you have to get the best deal you can." Now, what Cleaver is saying here... You want me to translate this? Cleaver is saying: "We want to get the hell outta here in time for Christmas and we're not gonna stay here, and I better not veto this pipeline thing if it means we have to stay here because we are not staying here for Christmas!"

That's all this means. What this means is this is Emanuel Cleaver telling Obama, "Look, pal, we are getting outta here. You say you can keep us here while Michelle and the girls are over in Hawaii? You say you can keep us here? Well, we're getting outta here, and the only way we're gonna get outta here is if that pipeline is part of this and I've looked and I've seen some openings for you, so I know that you might cave on this." That's what Emanuel Cleaver's saying here: Democrats want outta town; Democrats want to get home for Christmas.

Now, interestingly, "A Cleaver spokeswoman, Stephanie Young, contacted The Hill after Cleaver's appearance on MSNBC to say the congressman misspoke and that he 'does not and will not be supporting this bill.'" So what happened is, Emanuel Cleaver goes out there and basically says, "Look, Barry, we going home! We're gonna be home in time for Christmas. If that means that you include this pipeline in the tax cut, you do it; we're if we go to outta here." Somebody at the White House obviously read it, heard it, and called up Emanuel Cleaver. And whatever was said -- it might have had Andy Stern call him, maybe some union guy, maybe the goons that beat up the black guy in St. Louis, who knows -- they called up Emanuel Cleaver, and they said, "You really mean that, Manny? Really mean that?"

"Mean what?"

"Well, these threats."

"I didn't threaten anybody."

"Yes, you did. You threatened the president here."

So, anyway, now the Cleaver office has put out this message that, "Hey! Hey! The congressman, that's not what he said! He misspoke; you misunderstood. He doesn't support this bill. He doesn't support the pipeline. No, no, you got it wrong." Well, we have it right here. We got it, what he said. I just read it to you. Speaking Friday on MSNBC's Morning Joe, Cleaver said, "The president might walk back his veto threat. I think the president probably feels that throwing in the pipeline's not a good deal. I think the president's a good government president, but I think whether or not he'll delay the deal is another issue." So what happened was (I'm searching if we have that), 'cause Emanuel's fun to listen to. I'm looking at the sound bite roster.

Don't see it. Doesn't matter. Cookie, no big deal. The thing that obviously happened here is that Emanuel Cleaver was told, "Hey, your day pass to leave the plantation has just been revoked, and you keep talking like this, and you're never getting off it." He basically said: I think the president might walk back the veto threat 'cause we gonna get outta here at Christmastime. Yes. (laughing) You know what this tells me? The president does not have his people on this, and Dingy Harry can't get the votes for this and they run the Senate. Dingy Harry cannot, however he structures it, get the Democrat votes for this payroll tax cut extension. He cannot do it, even running the Senate. So Obama's party is not with him on this.

I'm telling you. I know you think that I'm cynical and I may be misreading things. When I tell you to follow the money, don't doubt me. Right now this pipeline is bringing money, campaign donations in on both sides, environmentalist wackos are donating; Big Oil is donating. If he okays the pipeline or turns it down officially, one of those streams dries up. If he okays the pipeline, then not only do the environmentalist wackos stop with the money; they get really, really mad. They run ads, and they're already feeling disrespected. This pipeline, if Obama is reelected, is going to be approved shortly after the next inauguration. If Obama is reelected. I don't care who's elected, this pipeline is gonna be approved. (interruption)

What was the question? Yeah, the unions are for the pipeline! The unions are for the pipeline. But he's already got them. He doesn't have to worry about the unions drying up. They have many things they're interested in. The pipeline just one of them. In fact, I am sure Obama has called Andy Stern and Trumka and the rest of these guys -- whose "the son-of-a-bitch"? -- Hoffa, brought them in there and said, "Look, just tell your guys put the guns down, put the axes down. It's gonna happen." (interruption) Well, he called us that. I did that on purpose. He called us sons-of-bitches. Snerdley is in there thinking, "You shoulda answered the other question." (laughing)

cutspending.jpg

No. He called us that. I said that on purpose. He called us SOBs. It's Open Line Friday. We got 40 second delay, I can still delay it. Think I ought to delay it? Well, it's too late now. We've gone past the delay, can't delay it now. Now it's out there. Okay, it just went live. I said it 40 seconds ago, 45, just sent it live so I can't take it back. I'm sure he told the union guys, "Hey, hey, hey, hey, you're gonna get the pipeline. I just can't do it now. I need money coming in from both sides. No doubt whatsoever in my mind."
